- This is my entry for the Vola Solo Contest. The amazing backing track is by Pierre Danel from Kadinja. I felt this backing track called for more melodic playing with greater attention to phrasing so that's what I went for. I hope you enjoy it!
Meanwhile the shred continues on Instagram: / amars_music
Gear:
Schecter Banshee Mach 7 with Lundgren M7 pickups
Fractal Audio AXE FX II
Purple Plectrums Apollo PEEK

#TheVola2021SoloCompetition
This competition was crazy. The backing track is so beautiful by itself that it’s hard to add anything to it. Big shoutout to whoever did the composition.
As solo’s go, I understand how the 1st place guy got it. He hit all the technicality stops while still hitting the melodic punch lines. He followed the formula 🤷🏽♂️ props.
But the reason I always come back to THIS solo is because it “feels” right.
you didn’t over cook it like everyone else did and the way most people expect it to be done during a competition.
you added the perfect amount of everything and applied the flavors at just the right time.
It’s like watching a baking show and the visual trophy goes to the person who built an Eiffel Tower out of cupcakes,
But the contestant that EVERYONE will go home remembering is that one simple perfect little cookie that took your breath away.
That’s this.
I applaud the other guys…but I close my eyes and squeeze them shut when I listen to this.
(I just felt like writing)
It was very pleasant reading your thoughts! I'm really glad you like this solo. The first place did an excellent job. It's always interesting to see all the different ideas players come up with over the same track 👌
Saw u wile randomly scrolling through UA-cam shorts and now I'm addicted to ur playing

Thank you! I'm glad you like it man! 🤘🤘
How you call this solo type, can't stop listening! I just want hear more solos/songs like this!
I'm glad you like it! I would say it's a modal solo part of the Prog genre. 🙂👍
Do the next Vola competition Amar!
Ah I will check it out! 🙌
Wow! we all know that you are a fast and precise guitarist but this time you played wonderful melodies instead. Best of luck man!
Thanks man! I appreciate that. I felt that this track called for something different. It was nice doing something else for a change ✊
@@AmarAlhoch Great choice there! The melody fit the backing track so well
That's always the primary goal! Thank you! 🙌
Great entry man, very soulful!
And also, did you make the backing track? It's great:D
Any chance of getting a hold on it?:D
Edit: oh just read the description nvm xd
Thank you! I appreciate it! 🙌 Hehe yeah the track is on their website. 😃
Need a mix-mastered version of it ❤️🥺
Amazing!!!!
The beginning is very Joe Satrianish.
I see the way you pick is very relaxed
How are you controling not moving your index joints?
When i pick like you, my index curls itself inside :(
I'm just getting into this way of picking after i realized my previous picking was bad
Thank you! I appreciate that! 🙌
You actually said it yourself, it's about staying relaxed. I focus a lot on controlling tension. I've worked on my picking technique a lot over the years and I continue to do so. There must be some sort of tension going on that is causing your finger to curl. Are you on Instagram by any chance? My Instagram is in the caption. Over there, I have a story highlight titled "picking hand". I have multiple tips there that might be useful to you. Feel free to check them out. 🙌
@@AmarAlhoch thanks man!
I really need to work on my relaxation more!
And i actually came here from your Instagram haha, and i saw all your highlighted stories about technique!
@@staystrongjoseph Oh haha! Well hopefully I'll be able to find some additional tips for picking. 😃
@@AmarAlhoch hellyeah 🤘🤘
Could you please tell us about the harmony and chord progression? Sounds absolutely amazing
??
Thank you! I actually have no idea what the harmony is. It was difficult to figure out
What's your action heights at?
Currently around 2/32, a little higher on the bass side. However, it was higher when I recorded this particular video.
@@AmarAlhoch wow 2/32 that's some sick action. I'm planning on getting this guitar just from hearing your videos. Even that low, sounds so full and clean
I'll say it has the best neck I have ever played. I'm sure you'll love it!
@@AmarAlhoch do you prefer the mach 7 or your other guitars? I'm in the market rn
It's hard to say. I love all my guitars. The Mach 7 has my favorite neck but overall I find the build quality to be lower than my other guitars even though this is my most expensive guitar. Kinda strange. The neck isn't as stable meaning I find myself adjusting the truss rod every few months (could be my guitar only though). But it's such a joy to play and I love the tones. Also very comfortable to hold the thin body.
When most guitarists shred it seems like mindless noodling. When you shred it is still lyrical and integral to the overall musical composition.
It's my preferred way to play. I'm glad you see it that way. Thank you! 🙏
