Jose, I appreciate all your helpful videos. I love my Canon Pro 100! I want to make a batch of rejuvenation fluid in case I need it. Where may I purchase the propylene glycol?
Jose, Does the stubby needle actually penetrate the sponge? If so, what's the approximate depth? Also, you're videos are about the most helpful I've ever watched regarding print matters. I'm always going to your playlist first. Thanks for taking the time to do them!
If you mean the PRO100 refill homemade adapter, It does not protrude beyond the surface of the gadget. So it does not penetrate. It is about 1/8" long.
Hi, have flushed, cleaned and dried 3 cli-42 carts down to 14g, then filled with the rejuvenating fluid. Two of them the liquid would not permeate much. I am thinking maybe they should be bone dry before adding the rejuvenating fluid? Thank you.
You can suck out or blow out as much water as you can so if you can get it down to about 14.5 then you can load it with the fluid and let it sit over night, and then such that out and let it dry as show earlier. It will NOT go down to 13.6 but about $14 as the residual glycerin will not evaporate! Then you can refill. Prime the exit port with a bout 10 drops of ink, attach a clip and add ink from above. Even if there are a couple little areas that do not appear soaked with ink it will be fine. You want the bottom portion of the sponge to be saturated.
@@aboulfad glycerin does not EVER evaporate. It is perfect for refilling now. The residual glycerin will dissolve into ink without any detrimental effects.
Is there any reason to rinse the rejuvenating solution with distilled water to remove any of the alcohol or will it evaporate fully in the drying process? If alcohol "kills" ink, we wouldn't want any in the cart when we add new ink.
NO, if your do you will also remove the emulsifier ( Glycerol ) The alcohol and water will totally evaporate, leaving a trace of glycerol! But you do not need to do any of this UNLESS your carts have been dried for month on end, were used until fully empty or they were suffering from ink flow issues causing ink delivery failure in printing. That only occurs after at leas a dozen refill! And always remember that WE WERE NEVER MEANT to refill these carts!
I apologize for asking this question almost 2 years after you posted the video, but where do you get ammonia from - is it pure ammonia, mixed with other chemicals or is there a particular "brand"? In Malaysia, Windex is practically non-existent, and searching for ammonia by itself is fruitless... Many thanks in advance.
The plain rejuvenating solution does not use ammonia. You could ad that are 5% full strength ammonia to the solution to allow it to be used as a cart flush.
After normal flushing the cli 42 cart can i fill the cart with rejuvenating fluid without let it dry first ? Can i dry only after i fill the cart with rejuvenating fluid and the weight for around 13.56gram then fill the cart with ink?
Jose Rodriguez its my first time flushing that yellow cli42 cart and when i tried to fill i saw lots of air pockets in the sponge i don’t know why. Thats why i need to use that rejuvenating fluid to remove those air pockets on the sponge side.
I hope you Do you have another cart installed while you are doing this? If you let it fully dry it should allow ink to flow freely. I put my still wet carts in a toaster over set to 100f for 30 minutes periods and the weigh them. You will reach a point where they will not lose any more weight. About 13.6 grams.
Jose Rodriguez can i put the wet cart in the toaster over with 100f for 30min ? I tried to do as u did with paper towel drying maybe i didn’t dry it enough. Can i put it in camera dry box? After putting rejuvenating fluid inside the cart how long do i need to leave it before starting the drying process?
You say add 5% ammonia to the solution if you want to produce a cleaning solution. What is the actual number of ml or oz to use for the cleaning solution. How much distilled water, how much alcohol and how much ammonia?
Only if you have refilled your carts numerous times and you experience sub par ink absorption of ink delivery or f!ow problems. Otherwise you don't need to use it. Flush your yellow cart with Windex with ammonia twice then water then dry to a weight of under 14 grams. The rest can be filled without flushing unless they at truly dried up!

Glycerin from the drug store works just as well and its what I use. Othewise you can get either reagent from Amazon.

Thanks Jose, what brand glycerol, what per cent is available and where to get it?. I am not familiar with this chemical. thanks.
Some drug stores will have Glycerin which is the same thing. Amazon carries it as well. Glycerin or Glycerol is one strength.
Do we need to clean the cartridges every refill?
Hi Jose, Do i have to rinse the cartridge with water as the last step? Or just dry the cartridge after the Rejuvenating Fluid?
Drain the fluid and allow to dry.
Jose Rodriguez 👌
Hi Joe,
About how much would the cart weigh when it is ready to fill with ink after using this rejuvenating fluid?
You can suck out or blow out as much water as you can so if you can get it down to about 14.5 then you can load it with the fluid and let it sit over night, and then such that out and let it dry as show earlier. Thanks, Joe. That's great information.
@@cheo1949 my rejuvenated cli-42 cart weighs at 13.63g, does that mean the glycerin evaporated or I didn't mix the solution well enough? thanks.

what is the difference in weight after the glycerol is added to empty dried cart?

Hi Jose,
What is the name of the syringe tip you are using in this video? Any links? Thanks!
Look up Epson Priming Tips from any 3rd party ink provider.
Where do you get those little stubby needles from, Jose?
Precisioncolors.
What's the name of the quick glue drying spray? Thanks in advance
BSI Insta Set Accelerator. You get it at most good RC hobby shops.
It is for CA type glues only!

Yes. But you do not need to rejuvenate unless you've refilled that cart so many times that ink flow is no longer optimal.

5ml ammonia to 95ml of the basic solution.
Thanks Joe.
How might one determine if rejuvenation is needed without wasting ink?
Only if you have refilled your carts numerous times and you experience sub par ink absorption of ink delivery or f!ow problems. Otherwise you don't need to use it.
