Back in the early sixties I went with some friends of mine from Washington high School down to the Buffalo paddock at night to check out the Buffalo. We of course have been drinking a little bit of red wine.... Goaded on by my friends to prove my bravery I climbed over the fence into the paddock...I was probably 50 or 60 ft into the paddock when a thundering sound from the distance may be aware that I might be in big trouble. I remember climbing up a limbless tree while the Buffalo circled around me for quite some time finally losing interest and lumbered off. Soon after the coast was clear I hit the ground running and did the fastest 50-yard dash I had ever done and back up and over that fence to the soud of uncontrolled laughter by my friends... In those days it was just a single chain link fence, nowadays I think there are two fences and even a protective cable keeping the Buffalo from getting close... Probably to protect stupid teenagers like me from doing stupid things..

I called McLaren Lodge once to ask what time they feed the buffalo. After 5 minutes on hold, I was told "There are no public feedings."

I feel like they’re so much more active ever since the babies moved in. Running around, rolling in dirt, scratching their heads on trees!

I love the bison. Thank you. Someone told me that they were referred to as "the girls"

I lived in SFO 1970-89. Had no idea these critters were there, until a warm summer day circa 1985. I was hiking along and stopped by a fence to tie my shoe. I heard a rather loud sniff and looked up to see one of these magnificent creatures, not ten feet away, on the other side of the fence, checking me out. I was thrilled beyond measure.
Yes and I have also had bison burgers several times.

My grandparemts lived just off of Lincoln Way when the "button nose" [that"s how my younger brother said 'buffaloes'] broke out of the park. Huge and shaggy.
