Without looking closer at the handbrake mechanism myself, it may be possible to stack some washers or something to limit the minimum engagement and adjust the software dead zone so you still get the proper feel at the end of the throw

As someone who has money shifted twice, a shifter was necessary for me. I really needed to practice slowing my shifting down. Seriously thank you for the reviews, I expected a lot of Simagic, and even still their gear was above my expectation.

Thanks for the info. The sharpness and lightness of the handbrake looks better than my Heusinkveld v2 although i haven't set any curves with mine. I bought the Q1 shifter a year ago primarily on your review. It is a beast. Really good and quiet when you want it to be. I am against H+Sq combined shifters purely on principle. I bolted my Frex shifter straight onto 8040 side rail, alone onto my right side and by heck, the difference that makes to driving vehicles, especially with clutch is something else. Heavy clunky shifters are the way to go for upgrade. Simagic supply a spare ball with their Q1, likely the same here. Your work, fun exploits are appreciated. Keep 'er between the hedges.

I see the 7/8th gear lockout more so it can be configured with reverse on either side, depending on usecase. It's much more common to have reverse on different sides than having a 7th manual gear.

Great video and love the descriptive breakdown! On another note... what filter are you using ? I am assuming you're using AC with CM or is that Automobilista 2 ?

I have a big problem with my simagic shifter! My ds-8x is not connecting to the PC! I have everything connected to a hub, and the usb connection ain't even lighting up (the hubhas an individual light for each connection)
i tried plugging directly to the pc and in different hub ports, no difference! Its like it isnt there!!! Tried different cables from the alpha mini and even tried in on another computer! the problem persists! It is getting power tho! If I peek inside I can see the green light you talk in the video! tried contactacting the reseller, but as it arrived yesterday, Saturday, I haven't received any response! I think it's driver/software related! So i'd rather fix it than have sent to warranty and the new one coming in exactly the same!
Therefore, I ask for your help! How do I open it up? What bolts did you take out in order to open the top plate! Any help you can give is very much welcome!!!

If the SimPro manager doesn’t see it, will be better to send it back man! Even if you open it, you don’t know what the problem is !

@@chepilevskiActually managed to find the problem! The connector on the shifter is faulty! it does work, however the cable has to be pushed up for it make connection and be recognized by the PC!!!
I'm still sending it back for warranty for obvious reasons!

I use the Sim H Pattern / Sequentieller Shifter - Black Edition and the Sim Handbrake - Schwarze Edition from MME Motorsport. I have used the Shifter & FlyOff Fanatec hardware for years. Compared to Fanatec, the MME simracing hardware is another world. MME Motorsport develops and manufactures real motorsport gearboxes including electronics and you can see that in their simracing hardware. Maybe you can organise a comparison test of the MME hardware, your impressions would be very interesting. Best regards from Tyrol/Austria

Its actually so terrible that mx5 cup switched to sequential, h pattern makes sim racing so much more fun.
Totally agree with you man, that is probably one of the best virtual cars ever produced in Simracing and is still fun but with the H-shifter was absolute blast 😃
What knobs on the top are you using to extend the handbrake and shifter?
Hi legend, the mechanics in that shifter are similar to automotive salt tables, both in the gearboxes and in the salting mechanisms themselves, I know because I've been a mechanic for a long time, thanks for the review

The TB1 handbrake seems worth buying to me.
I wouldn't mind the long movement on the handbrake personally.
I think i would rather go with a dedicated sequential shifter and keep my TH8A for the few H shifter cars.
It definitely worth the money in my opinion too! Being loadcell with elastomers and and really beautiful aluminum work definitely worth every penny .
Can you please post a video on some tips for RX racing? I’m sure this would be helpful and maybe will get more iracers to race the series

Hey Steliyan. Could you please do a video on Simucube 2 safety? I saw a thread on reddit 2 months back where someone broke their hand with a SC2 pro and it would be cool if you could do a video explaining why it happened and how to stay 100% safe. Feels scary to buy a product that can suddenly maim you if you have a wrong setting somewhere. It had something to do with calibration in iRacing and starting a race with your wheel turned a few degrees and it trying to autocorrect made it go bananas
Simucube can be dangerous indeed and it try to break my hands few times indeed 🙈

Awesome review I've been waiting for this one. I noticed in the Simpro software there is an option to have a sequential shifter map to the paddles of the wheel so they do the same thing. Do you know if this is possible with the DS-8X in SQ mode? I play a lot of WRC Generations and have to use a 3rd party software to accomplish this with my Aiologs shifter and Simagic Wheel.
I saw that as an option in the software for the shifter but I haven’t tested it buddy

great review. you saved me some money, i wanted this as an upgrade to the fanatec shifter. because - like you mentioned - the movement in the lever drives me nuts...
I feel like Fanatec somehow managed to pull great job with there shifter for that price and will be very hard to be beaten 🙈 this shifter is absolutely awesome gear but is almost double the price even being bit better !

If you care more about sequential shifting the Q1 is the one ! If you wanted both world and gonna use H pattern then the DS !

About the shifters, this one is for sure better but the Fanatec is also absolutely awesome and for the price difference I’m not sure is this will worth for you as that is bit subjective topic ! However, I love both shifters a lot and they both have served me well!
in Sequential mode, how does it compare to the Q1? I've been eyeballing this shifter since release, but I would really prefer spending the extra money if necessary if it can't give me a realistic experience in both H and S mode. Like you said, H pattern is a dying breed, however it's still a blast to drive when you get the chance.
They have different feelings in SQ mod buddy as the SD-8S have deeper movement because of the H shifting mechanism!
I like the sound click of simagic sq1 but its the same for DS8 ?

Ah no, the DS is way quieter then the SQ as here the noise comes from the plastic ball and in the SQ1 is metallic sound
Just wondering if the plastic ball would fit in the sequential and quiet it down a little? 🤔
No Ryan , the SQ have that same plastic part but the noise comes from the gear wheel inside which make the klick sound!
Seriously looking at one of these to replace my Fanatec SQ shifter due to the chronic, unfixable random gear selection bug, which can pop up any time, like the middle of a race.
This one looks to be better quality in terms of materials and I haven’t had any issues but I never had issues with Fanatec as well 🤔
Nevertheless this is awesome shifter

I've got a question, which base do you prefer? The simagic Alpha mini or the moza R9? I've been looking for video's of the comparison but can't find any. By the way amazing work as always!
I will rate them In use as very similar and the R9 is way better priced but Simagic have better wheels options !
From driving experience they are very very close and the choice in my opinion must be more about wheel choices and budget!

I like how it looks when you change the gears, but as long as u can miss shift ie what u call bad clutch syncronisation. No real car i have driven had worked like that what we get when we miss shift with a h-pattern stick in sims. The stick should not be allowed to travel to the gear position if the clutch is not engaged, somehow the brands that makes manual h-pattern sticks should have thought of this and prevent the gear stick to be moved to next gear when clutch in not engaged properly, some kind of timing and mechanism should prevent from doing that. Still waiting for a proper h-shifter.

It is not dump question at all buddy! There was I time wen I raced in world championship and the adrenaline in every start pushed me to lean my entire body on the wheel and I was loosing my precision!
I decided to fix my body in the seat and not be able to move except my hand ! It is mostly physiologically thing I needed to relax in the first 3-5 minutes of the race !

Hi, Do you use a clutch when you use a sequential shifter??
Usually I try to blip and use it as a dog box but with some cars must be used with clutch to synchronize!

I could be wrong but it really looks like the throw on that shifter is to long. It reminds me of a shifter in a truck more than any type of race/sports car.
I won’t say is long but I’m curious if the handle is shorter how would feel as this one is probably 4cm longer then the Fanatec V1.5
@@chepilevski that is true. It could be an optical illusion because the length of the shifter but that also means it might be possible to replace it with a shorter shifter that would give you a shorter throw.

I wonder when you start to actually rank products, rather than just label them as good or very good. I don't need to be a rocket scientist to know that Simagic is most likely better than Moza and Fanatec.
I totally understand what you men and I’m planning to make full video off all products I’ve tested and rate them but that will be very complex video as too many things must be taken in count ! I need to test few more products and then will start rating them and compare them side by side!
It is easy for me to say which is better as a product but not everyone will want to spend overpriced items just because they are better.
