My goal was to play a little with the Sony A1 and to see how it performs.

did you like the results from Samyang AF 50 1.4 II ? what lenses do you think look the best on a1
I bought it right away after it came out. I have a review in my channel but it is in my native language.
About the A1 - its sensor makes all the lenses better. I think that they tweaked the microlenses in front of the pixels and it is capable of extracting more detail from softer lenses than the older models like my 7RM3. My old Minolta 58 1.2 was sharper on the A1 and the fine detail was cleaner.
The Samyang 50 1.4 II - works like a native lens on the A1 and is way faster than on my 7RM3. Not GM fast but very fast. And 420g for a 50 1.4 with that price and image quality - I love it.
@@SimeonKolev thanks Simeon for that insight. I've been looking for the right video camera for me for 2 years and I keep coming back to how great the sony a1 looks. its pricey, but if it ticks all my boxes its worth it.
of coarse coming from gh5 ibis, its a bit of a downgrade stable wise. internal nd would have been nice lol .. but thats pretty much all my boxes ticked . I dont have much left over for lenses, so I have to buy the ones that will be most useful but keep that quality . I will definitely look at the samyang . im looking at getting Sony 24-70mm and maybe a 24mm 1.8 .. or a 24mm and 85mm .. or 17-28mm and 24-70mm .. just cant decide yet .. I really want some shots in 1.8 ... any views ?
@@hirosixproductions it is a very long discussion and a very subjective one. For me the newer models from Samyang work well and are a great value for the money. But not all of them.
About the IBIS - there is a gyro stab that works awesome but is taxing on your PC. And if you use OSS lenses it is better for the smoothness especially for video. I would go for the OSS lens instead of 1 stop brighter aperture when we speak about zooms.
Primes are a different story. You have to try them, it is very subjective. For example when I tested the 50 1.4II against the 50 GM I was more pleased by the Samyang. The GM is too sharp, the bokeh is too smooth, there is almost no CA and it breaths like crazy for video. It was much heavier and more expensive... But even on the same price I will go Samyang again.
