I can finally say that I'm using this tutorial! ^^ I've been dying to make a Link cosplay, and it turns out I'm going to be making 3 different colours for Four Swords! ^^
I'm cosplaying as Link in the Zora tunic to a local anime convention, and making the costume is going to be my first sewing sewing project, so I'm really glad that you made this video! It's really helping me out. I've watched it like five times trying to prepare myself...
Oh and for future projects: you can iron on some heavy fuseable interfacing on the places where you will punch holes for the eyelets, its makes the fabric a lot stronger!
The first video I ever watched from you was the Link Cosplay video in Lifeburry. I remember instantly falling in love with your vlogs and music videos. I was so obsessed that I made my first UA-cam channel just so I could subscribe to you. Pretty much all the channels I watch I found through you and I am forever grateful! BTW Nice Charmander Zelda Costume ;)
I decided to pull together a quick Link cosplay, and funnily enough also the fire tunic, for Anime Boston this year. Some of it is stuff I had, the rest is stuff that was on clearance that would work oddly well. This tutorial is great and I wish I had seen it sooner! If I decide to do a new one I will be following this video!
I would use leather for the bracers as they designed to protect the inside of an archer's forearm against injury by the string of a bow or the fletching of an arrow. You could dye the leather to match the costume color!
Looks really good. A suggestion for eyelets. Maybe iron reinforcement tape on the edge of fabric make fold a little bigger maybe 1 inch or 3/4 inch. That will make it a little stronger.
Thank you SO MUCH for making this video. Your vlog video when you went to Anime LA with Joey made me want to be Link for Halloween, but I could NOT find a good video on how to make his costume! They all looked really bad like they didn't really care how it turned out, but this one was AMAZING!!!!
more to the point though, that is a fantastic final product...and my brother would probably love it, but i have to say i'm partial to the classic green.
little tip: when you are machine sewing it's easier to have the bulk of the fabric on the left so it's not in the way while sewing! And i wish i was in LA so i could draft you an awesome fitting pattern!
This is so fricken cool Meghan! I didn't know how to sew before or anything like this, but now I believe I have some sort of foundation to work from and add to, so thank you! :D
If you put your pins horizontally into the fabric instead of vertically, you can just sew right over the pins instead of pausing every few stitches to take them out.
Instead of using eyelets, you could use gromets! they have a top and bottom piece that you hammer together so they trap the fabric between them and there's no chance of them falling off. Best part: no glue involved!
Meghan, couldn't you use a measuring tape for the bracers? You measure your wrist and where the bracer ends then just make a line connecting the two points.
Meghan this is AMAZING!!!! I have been wanting to do cosplay for quite sometime, though school has not allowed me the time to do so. I'll probably use this tutorial and try making one sometime :D Any other protips you can give a newbie? ^w^
Thanks for the help Mehgan!! ^ ~^ This year i planned on cosplaying as Link, but there are no stores that sell cosplay, and i decided on making it. And then I found your video!! *Dun-nunun-DUUUUUN!!!* :D
You said you originally used a t-shirt as an outline. What size was it? In the other video, it was a 2-XL for the sleeves, but is it the same for the tunic? And what type of fabric should be used for the tunic? I don't want to make it too thin.
My friend and I are going to be Link and Zelda for Halloween and I'm making the costumes. It only took me a few hours to make this and I've never made a costume like this from scratch before! :) You should do it.
What would you recommend if you were a guy to change the tights and knee high boots PS what was on your back at the end I know it was a arrow holder but where did you get it
That was a great cosplay to make. I'm just wondering since you like anime, manga and video games, can you show us the stuff you already have in your collection?

I hope you arnt hand sewing that. I did and it took forever lol

Update: Just finished my tunic! It looks really awesome. I'm so excited to wear it at the next con I attend!
The best thing about her tutorials or even her hauls.. it's unique and different from the normal ones

I plan on cosplaying as Link and this was the perfect inspiration! I can't get over how awesome the trim looks. Lol.

This is the best explained video I've ever seen for any clothing, and it's a Goron Fire Tunic so that makes it perfect
Meghan you have so much dedication. I could never do this.
Link had tunics in several colors. There was green, red, and blue as well as the different types of armor he could wear.
Thank you SO MUCH for making this video. Your vlog video when you went to Anime LA with Joey made me want to be Link for Halloween, but I could NOT find a good video on how to make his costume! They all looked really bad like they didn't really care how it turned out, but this one was AMAZING!!!!
Looks so cute! I love the colours, and style!
more to the point though, that is a fantastic final product...and my brother would probably love it, but i have to say i'm partial to the classic green.

@ElioTom, of course the ORIGINAL Link is green. But the red one is Fire Link/Red Link. Either name is fine. But Link also has different forms.
If you put your pins horizontally into the fabric instead of vertically, you can just sew right over the pins instead of pausing every few stitches to take them out.

Do you think I could try this as a total beginner in sewing and cosplaying? Or would you consider it as too difficult?
This is so cool! lol. i used to love watching my brother play zelda all the time.
Instead of using eyelets, you could use gromets! they have a top and bottom piece that you hammer together so they trap the fabric between them and there's no chance of them falling off. Best part: no glue involved!
