For the purposes of reality training (outside a training center, no rules, no refs, and points are irrelevant) Blauer's "understandable to all" approach has immediate value for any citizen or professional. He is very relevant if anyone is looking for more than a false sense of preparedness.
I wish we worked on keeping range, keeping posture, and defenses against setups/entrances of moves in wrestling, bjj, sambo, boxing, and Muay Thai. He’s really on to something.
amazing... all the slow motion "fight" moves/movement in the video appeared very smooth and professional and will obviously totally work in real life in a street fight against people with boxing/competitive MMA experience!!!! Another great salesman
Best defense is a good offense. Doesn't work legally, but excellent practically. Awareness and avoidance are key. If those fail, attack first. Defending always leaves you, at least, one move behind.
That would imply that you would never get in a headlock , which when it happens puts you at a disadvantage, because you are not conditioned to that scenario. Most wannabe tough guys crumble under a real threat scenario and are as clueless as a novice, the crucial aspect of winning a fight ( when you cant avoid it) lies in the first few seconds of REAL combat.
He looks good for his upper 50s , fighting skills are alright but those Knife fighting sceans are misleading . Doesn't happen that way ! Don't be fooled

Know the feeling. Know Tony four years. His thinking was helped me launch my way of thinking.
Thanks for featuring Tony! Love this lecture!
Coach Blauer is doing everyone a great service with his approach. "It is not what we believe that works. It is what we see that works."
Well, that's survival in a nutshell. Rank and years of experience does not replace mindset and intent.
Great explanation.
I remember meeting Tony at the Karate College. He got me out of the TMA rut. Thanks Tony!!!
6:03 on is probably his greatest contribution.
"You can learn to defend yourself in a day"
Tony Blauer
The "first aid for self-defense" comment is spot on. Outstanding analogy!

This sounds awesome. And every martial artist of whatever discipline should learn this......
Tony Blauer is a smart man.

Appreciate this, very honest approach.
Go to a Valente Brothers school, you would be amazed with the system, the philosophy, efficiency and the effectiveness.
"...the first aid for self-defense," haha, I like that
great video thanks
Very excited for this new production! I mean...vhs is cool and all but...Haha
true!!! and perfectly explained
nicely explained.
Training from the negative has its place, but it is overused. Best way to get out of a headlock is to not get put in a headlock.

I read your book to knife fights is fucking awesome
lots of good ideas, still needs refinement. Many examples of wasted motion and improper tool /target decisions exemplified here
AgentX Refinment , who are you , the man has been developing his system for over 40 years.
AgentX Really I was going to say the same thing, who are you, Tony has busted his but for over thirty years, and you say it needs refinement!
Isn’t he the founder of Festivus?
I'd love to see him participate in "the airing of grievances".
He looks good for his upper 50s , fighting skills are alright but those Knife fighting sceans are misleading . Doesn't happen that way ! Don't be fooled
