  • Since there is currently no professional recording of LSU's Malaguena on UA-cam, I decided to upload it myself. If there is one song I would want to march to anywhere, it's this one, and I have searched everywhere online for the sheet music, but can't find it. If anyone has the score, or just the tenor part for the drumline, I'd love to get it. Thanks!!

Wow! I played this with LSU back in 2006, likely this version, since we only played it every 4 years. Literally may favorite show we did all four years I was on the trumpet line. Thanks for the memory!

No problem, dude!! It's one of my favorites as well, though I can't say my for sure whether or not I've ever seen the actual show. The tune is mesmerizing and inspiring, though.

When the LSU band first (I think) played this song in about1988 or so, we played at Auburn, and then stopped to play the show at the end of a high school marching band competition. It was great fun. The trombone players were positioned near the sideline at the beginning of the drill, and when we got to the FFF section at about 0:47, several of us happened to see some high school kid's grandmother's face, and she clearly exclaimed "OH MY GOD!" so from then on, "FFF" became "OMG".

I was in the La Tech band and we played this at the Alabama game that year away in 1992. My favorite.

That's a hot band, for sure and for certain. I first performed this piece at a recital on piano accordion in 1968, and it's still one of my musical triumphs. Four years as a public school band director, and I never had a band that could perform like this. So while I'm always going to be the hugest fan of the Million Dollar Band, I've never heard them perform Malaguena like this. (It's okay, because the music is what I look to here.) Love to all who love Crimson Tide and Bengal Tiger football... we'll see you soon in T-town! Bring it, you Tigers!

You will probably never hear the Million Dollar Band play something like this. They don't have the chops. #justsayin

Theriot617. The original version was written in the fifties and first played by Stan kentons jazz band and before that it was played by some Mexican on guitar and piano

@dh27545 Thanks, man. There's other cadences/song I'll upload later, like Georgia Tech's old cadence, Louisiana Tech's Goldrush cadence, and much more. As my description says, I'm looking for the sheet music for the tenor part to this. I marched tenors all four years in high school, and would LOVE to learn this. If you know anyone who has it, or maybe the score, PLEASE let me know :-D
