Surprisingly enough this is the only method that works for me. I've practiced not reversing my chains for a good while now, so it doesn't phase me so far working unflipped reverse order stitches... still don't know how the triple negative works but it somehow all comes together beautifully 👍❤ well done and Thankyou for sharing your time and talent
I looked up a lot of resources for a good split ring explanation, but understood it only after watching your video. Thank you so much for this entire series of patient teaching :)
Thank you for this video. I've heard of this method before but I think this is the first video I've seen on it. You did an awesome job explaining how to do it. It's really clear and I love that you have included this method in your video lessons.
Thank god I found your video. It's been a rough journey. I watched a bunch of others and even instructional dvds that came with my tatting books and just could not get it. You did a wonderful job explaining. I understood and did it first try after listening and watching your instructions 😂😭 my brain hurts. I need a nap now.
This is the technique to be found in any book published by Anne Orr. Since you mention 'loom' where is the weaving being done? Wouldn't 'core thread' do just as well?
I did have a question you've got a pattern and the pattering that is for sides size thread 30 can you change that you knew something a little bit bigger thread in if I use a bigger threat it do you I have to make some other adjustments because the threat is a little bigger than what it says on the pattern would you let me know I have a pattering really cute but number 30 thread is just way too small
Yes you can use any size thread you would like to. That said you may have to adjust the pattern in double stitch count or where the joining picots need to go. If going up one size larger or down one size smaller you may not have to adjust the pattern. Hope that helps you. Happy Tatting
after following your instruction in this video, i have a problem when time to pull the thread (purple) to close the ring, but it won't budge....where did i go wrong? please help me. thank you
more than likely you have a double stitch that didn't flip on the dark purple side or one that did flip on the light purple side. When a ring doesn't close it is usually the culprit that causes it. I hope that helps you. :)
If what your doing works for you and if you can send me info on what you do I can add that as another way and give the credit to you. You can contact me thru tamiestatting@gmail.com if you would like to share your method with the tatting community. Happy Tatting
I do it this way, and then find no problems with flipping : ua-cam.com/video/lPXkMb2BV2g/v-deo.html. I also remove thumb from ring of thread looped around hand, so no pain. Just loop sitting over fingers of hand with fingers pointing up.

Awesome explanation! Kudos on showing your "mistakes"

I always use this method and I don't have problems flipping when I shouldn't but then I've done quite a few SR's... So practice makes it easier
:-)
Wonderful video. Is it not always better to use two colours for making split rings? In using single colour, will it be easy to locate any mistakes?
When learning yes do use 2 colors after you are more confident in your tatting then you can do it in one color. Happy Tatting

Gorgia mam I got how to make split ring
After watching all three of the methods of doing a split ring, I discovered that I do a sr totally different than any of them.
