    Call it whatever you wish, I am just tired of pain. Life is a struggle that I'd rather not go through.
    What we lack is the courage to have meaningful discussions. Its really not as complex as people make it out to be. We are a social species, we *need* one another. There is a reason we feel pain when alone. If we are alone, its more difficult to survive, which is why we need to learn to be more open. Our very survival demands this.

      I totally agree with you. If i told you that we all could have an open conversation with one another about life, families and friends, anything.... most people would tell me im delusional and insane. Meaningful discussions and conversations have some how been restricted to only family and people closest to us. Imagine if that were not the case. If only we could all be vulnerable enough to have meaningful conversations. Oh how much we woull learn and live.

      Trev Stavros: Agree 100%. Us “old” people are considered more expendable. It’s a common human tendency to think the suicide of a person with roughly 20 years of life left is far less “tragic” than a young person with 60 years of life ahead of them.

    My family don’t care about me, my husband left me 4 years ago, his family was my family. I haven’t heard one word from them in 4 years. So they’re gone too. Recently discovered I have loss and abandonment issues. Depression and pain. Want the pain to end. Tried counselling. Can afford it or find the help. It’s just not available. Been an awful 18 months so far. Keeps getting worse. I don’t want to live anymore.

    Suicide isn't always triggered by mental illness. I have had health problems for 25 years that stop me from enjoying my life.It has taken an incredible toll on me and there is no end in sight.I used to be an athlete and an overachiever I am exhausted from my health issues and on top of that I have no one to talk to.I am married however my wife does not want to hear anything I have to say,so I feel all alone and empty,very hollow inside.On top of that I have been cheated on numerous times and lied to repeatedly for the last 13 years while dealing with all these health problems at the same time.it's overload and nothing let's up!I have been devastated by all of this I am numb beyond belief. I have kids and my youngest is 11.I keep thinking I don't want to ruin her life,but my desire to die is too strong.I love my wife so much,but if I don't figure something out with my life I will die.I am such a good man.

    • @HalifaxPsychologists
      @HalifaxPsychologists  4 роки тому +9

      I wouldn't disagree with you on suicide not always being triggered by mental illness. I think it misunderstands the phenomenon of suicide - it's highly contextualized and individual, as you know. For whatever it's worth, I hope that you are able to find a way to overcome some of what you're dealing with and carry whatever you can't. Take care.

    WOW I like how this was explained. I don't think people understand that emotional pain rocks you to your very core. I think to with professionals they don't see you or hear you are a diagnosis and that is why you feel the you do. No so much about trauma you have suffered and what you actually go through but the fact you are not thinking right. Listening to answer not to understand the person sitting in front of them. Suicide is a hard thing to fight you are suffering it is agonizing and when your body goes haywire you just want the pain to stop and knowing you can't face the emotional pain from your past it is too overwhelming all of it. It's not a good place to be.

  • @EyeDoubtIt
    @EyeDoubtIt 6 років тому +33

    Learning the psychology of suicide is unproductive. Philosophy should be the focus - that this reality we live in is not subjective but objectively negative and death is a guarantee and will most likely be violent. To simply acknowledge this fact has nothing to do with depression or the state of someone's mind whatsoever, but rather the realization that choosing not to sit around and wait for a violent or even lasting chronic death is un-favored and the option to have a graceful and dignified death should be at the choice of each individual. We were all thrown into this existence and most people are dealt a short stick of which they had no choice in the matter. The psychology of why someone kills themselves is irrelevant. Suicide will always exist and there will never be a "cure", so it's only rational and reasonable to give ALL humans the option for a non-violent method to exit life gracefully. .....If anything - we should study the psychology of why humans believe suicide is a bad thing in the first place. I could argue the same applies towards life and optimism bias.

    I have a narcissistic family. Controlling and abusive. I am sensitive to it and have been their target. My older sister misinterprets everything. She misrepresents her motives and is a leader to my emotionally and intellectually weaker siblings. I have suicidal thoughts often. I live with hurt. I adored my siblings and enjoyed them. I am unemployed and my depression is obvious while interviewing and I can't focus. I have seen a therapist but it hasn't helped. I used to be so happy. I am getting older too. I wish I could find good help.
