I think the whole point of their relationship is they dont consider themselves as friends. Just stuck together growing up because their parent's were friends.
yes! i think a lot of ppl dont realise that the literal translation of the drama title is "mom's friend's son" so they're childhood friends but not by choice AHAH
The reason they said "my mom's friend's son" and "my mom's friend's daughter" is because the literal translation of the title 'Love Next Door' in Korean is 'Mom's Friend's Son.' However, in English, they changed it to 'Love Next Door' since the main point of the series is about the friendship and love that develop in the same neighborhood. Another reason (might be) is because they haven't seen each other for so long and things have changed with their lives, so instead of calling each other as "friends" they prefer to tell people as "my mom's friend's son/daughter"
Just a note, the word for apple in Hangul is Sagwa, the word for apology in Hangul is Sagwa. So he essentially said "As a Sagwa, I give you this Sagwa."
maybe you can add Alchemy of Souls to your watchlist for the future? the main actors are this main girl and Baekgyung from Extraordinary you, and the genre is fantasy, different from other Korean history dramas.
yaaaay!!! i'll be enjoying the show even more with your reaction. jung haein is an amazing actor and you should check out more of his work. plus ,yay for the hair! you look younger
Impressed how you can just jump into a series without reading the synopsis first. I'd be super lost since characters are popping out without introduction.
Well, the biggest problem is I still wont know who any character is even if I read the synopsis. I'm terrible with names. I am pretty good understanding character archetypes though Korean dramas obviously introduce new archetypes that I'm not entirely used to. I have started to keep a tab with the cast up on a monitor so I can at least talk about the correct character. Sometimes that's not even needed though.
You pronounce "석 류" - Seok Ryu as Seong Nyu ( or Seok New if you prefer). When the ㄱ letter is followed by the ㄹ letter the ㄱ - k is pronounced like ㅇ ng and the ㄹ letter is pronounced ㄴ It's just to make the "link"... I don't think you do that a lot or if it even exist in English but it's very frequent in French ( not the same type of transformation obviously but that letters are pronounced a different way when talking at a normal speaking speed. For instance "Je sais pas" - I don't know - is usually pronounced "Ch'ais pas" ( "shepa") by native speakers. The Korean language does the same with a couple of letters, it's not a strict rule per say, it's more when you speak fast, these letters just become naturally pronounced that way. ) EDIT: Choi is not pronounced "Choï" it's the western transcription of 최 or 죄. ㅗ +ㅣ ( o + i ) = ㅜ + ㅔ (u + ae) = wae Choi is pronounced = Chwae
@@nowa.isabell In korean, in hangul yes. But this is not hangul, so it should have been just written how it should be pronounced in latin/english. In hangul it was written like that because it was pronounced like that, like the op explained
Typical kdrama moms are flexing...just using the first few minutes of episode 1 to brag about there kids achievements 😂, thanks for the beautiful review on 'Love Next Door' 😍👏
I imagine that eventually it will win a poll on Patreon and I will watch it at that time. The current show I'm watching for Patreon is Its Okay to Not Be Okay.
Have you seen the kdrama called KINGDOM? its a zombie show. like "All of Us Are Dead" but more mature and set in a royal time many years ago. It's cool and refreshing to see how medival people would deal with a zombie outbreak without guns and technology.
That's one of the ones I watched before I started reacting to kdramas. I also watched All of Us Are Dead, Squid Game, The Signal, My Name, Move to Heaven, and for movies, I've seen Train to Busan, Old Boy and Parasyte.
Eventually I am sure I will. Currently I let Patreon choose what I watch next (outside of this currently airing show). They recently chose Its Okay to Not Be Okay and I will likely ask for a new recommendation from Patreon in a week or two.

I've enjoyed Jung So-min in so many dramas over the years. The cutest thing she did was a Philidelphia Cream Cheese commercial a couple years ago.

then why the english subtitle is Seok instead of Seong? it's kinda annoying tbh
