At the risk of sounding like Forrest Gump, my Mama always did say, “We wouldn't worry so much about what folks think of us, if we knew how seldom they do.” 😘
I tell you just the phrase "clothes are supposed to fit our body, not the other way around" itself is totally worth watching this video. Not mentioning the wholesomeness of your duo. Thank you, guys💞
I watched the Project 333 vid. After that, I poured ALL my clothes on to my bed and had over 500....500!! I now have a modified closet with the concept of 425. This means 25 pieces x 4 seasons = 100 items. I have 1 under the bed tote for each season. If it doesn't fit in the tote, I evaluate if I really need it. I'm 1 month in and so far, no extra clothes!!
The first time I encountered a capsule wardrobe was 27 years ago. The maternity-capsule-wardrobe-in-a-Box was being sold at a department store. It included a white short-sleeve tee, black leggings, black sleeveless pullover a-line, swingy, just above the knee dress, and one more piece, maybe another tee. I loved the simplicity of and multi-functionality of it.
Great video and great message! In a recent podcast, Kendra Adachi (“The Lazy Genius”) was talking about getting new pants. She said, “I realized I was grumpy because I was wearing the wrong size pants.” Not my pants were too small, not I don’t fit into my pants, just simply - I’m wearing the wrong size pants and need to buy some that are the right size. I loved that and it has stuck with me. Sharing in case it helps someone else think a little differently about their clothes that are the “wrong size.” Very cute maternity clothes, Diana!
I'd also like to add a reminder that the size (especially number sizes) not only vary from brand to brand, sometimes they also vary from one cut/style to another within the same brand. Ignore the number/size, and find what actually FITS you. Then cut the tags out if the "numbers/size are taunting you" or making you feel bad.
I bought Dawn's book & dragged out Lesson 1: Kitchen Declutter for about 2 months because I knew the next lesson was 'Clothes'. I have waaay too much & yet know I will need to take mini-steps or I will not be successful. Last weekend, I decluttered 67 items out of my drawers & stickered the rest with a date to declutter if I haven't worn. Next up...my closet full of work clothes! April decluttering is going to be tough...but this video inspiration was great timing! :)
Having less clothes means hopefully that you really like them, which leads to taking great care of them which leads to being thankful for what you have which leads to a happy life. 😀 When I learned to fold clothes the way Marie Kondo folds them, she would say to thank the clothes. Well, as a believer I thank God for providing and allowing me to have all these nice clothes. It made putting away clothes into a time of worship.
Great message! I'm from your mom's generation, so with my first pregnancy my mom put panels in the front of my favorite jeans. She is the best seamstress & put panels in a few of my scrubs. I only needed them for the last trimester, but helped "stretch" my wardrobe~ I started my capsule wardrobe at age 50, with only clothes that would travel well & now that I'm 60ish they must fit, travel well & go with my basic bottom colors of denim, black or khaki~ THANK YOU LADIES!
I have been able to declutter my closet based on this concept of keeping ONLY what fits me NOW and I feel good in! Such a gift! I have so many choices now with fewer clothing! Thank you, Dawn, for continuing to encourage us. I needed to hear this more than once before it sunk in! ♥️
I love the idea of having just what you need for the season - if I'm THIS size right now, I need to get clothes in THIS size for this season, and I wouldn't care about buying bigger clothes when I'm pregnant, because it's for a season. This allows me to get rid of what doesn't fit and get what I REALLY want for right now.
“I gotta wear clothes. That’s a rule.” 🤣 Y’all crack me up! I’m getting ready to figure out my minimized wardrobe for this season. At the start of the year, I turned all my hangers backwards so that I could do a purge of winter things and only store what I actually wore. Well, when my 7year old was helping with laundry recently, I discovered that she “helped” by making all the hangers hang properly lol! I’ve got my work cut out for me now haha.
I used to just get by with whatever I had during my first few pregnancies and I was miserable! I finally gave myself permission to buy new things that feel comfortable. Feeling comfortable in pregnancy is KEY to happiness!! So I guess-same result for me but I came from the other end. Don’t be afraid to spend something so you feel good about how you look!!
After watching some of your other videos, I cleaned out my closet and donated everything that was too small. Put everything one size smaller in the spare closet, and got rid of anything that felt weird, I never wore, or has something wrong with it that I had to fix. Everything in my closet now I love, and I actually feel like I might get rid of some more stuff. I feel like it is such a joy that it takes so little time to wash my clothes on the weekend and every morning I get up and think what do I feel like wearing today not what can I wear because it's clean. I have felt cute lately!!!! win!!! TY!!!!
My mom is an identical twin. She fell off a bike when she was 6 and broke her front tooth, and the dentist repaired it with a silver cap. She hated for people to say, "smile so I know which one you are." I can understand your angst a little because of her stories.
Can’t WAIT to get all the way down to a minimal ‘wardrobe’!! I have a LOOONG way to go but I am absolutely giddy while on the journey. I never thought I’d feel so GOOD to get rid of another box. Shirts, jeans, dresses, shoes and purses. Housewares, home decor, craft supplies…Things I haven’t used or worn for YEARS. I thought I’d feel pain to release them into the wild. But it’s quite the opposite! I am liberating my mind of this stuff and can’t for the life of me figure out why I needed your permission. But that’s how I was able to flip that switch. Can’t thank you enough. Space opens up, a bright light seems to just ‘appear’ and that ‘weight of things’ is simply gone! You have made my life better, Dawn. I genuinely mean that.
I love seeing people on the journey! The freedom from owning less is so much more satisfying then anyone could tell you, it has to be experienced. If I put on a top I didn't love I put it into my donations bag right away. It was a simple way that slowly paired down the noise in my closet.
@@rachellehoogendoorn Great advice! Isn’t it funny? You want to wear it. You put it on. (For the 50th time.) Then snarl, put it back on the hanger and right back in for another chance. And you never, ever actually wear it. Why do we do this?? 😂 I like the ‘if not today…never’ option. That will run through my mind next time I do it, I can assure you. So thank you!
@@JoVo1111 I rarely go shopping now, I don't even go to the mall. But I get groceries at Walmart, and I'll see something that's like $5 and buy it, then try to make it work, and realize I never liked it, I was just excited it was cheap. Haha. Good luck!!
@@rachellehoogendoorn That's what I do too! If I don't want to wear it today, I won't want to wear it tomorrow either. My mom loves it because she hates shopping and I've given her an entire wardrobe lol.
Thank you so much for talking about maternity! My 3rd baby is 8 months old now and absolutely NOTHING fits! Maternity clothes are too loose and my regular clothes are too tight and I really needed to hear someone say that it's okay to let things go and to do ourselves a kindness and keep only what fits now. I will get the rest of the weight off eventually but right now while I nurse a baby is not the time but I still deserve to feel happy and comfortable in what I wear. Even if right now that's leggings and a nursing top 🤣 Editing to add that I was watching this while cleaning out and organizing my own closet and just pulled out 5 items to donate!
Downsizing my closet/clothing has been the BEST part of my minimalism journey!!!!! We recently moved and have a smaller closet than before. Nothing too crazy but for sure smaller. I was totally cool with it! Instead of worrying when we got the house I thought - Oh cool, challenge accepted! It was so easy to adjust my wardrobe to it. Dawn thanks to you I am able to do that now where as before I would have been SO stressed. But, not anymore!!!!
I struggled with clothing for a few years after having my twins because my abdominal muscles got damaged and even though I weigh less than I did pre pregnancy I still look about 5 months pregnant. I hated everything in my closet because pre babies I loved empire waist dresses and tops but post babies they all just looked like I was wearing maternity clothes because they emphasized my mishaped belly. About a year ago I swapped out my entire wardrobe, except for the maternity leggings I need to support my belly. I have found a hand full of looser dress styles that I feel comfortable in and they camouflage my belly. I totally gave up on trying to find pants and tops that work, it's dresses all the time except for a couple long tunic tops I wear around the house. I feel so much better going out now because I'm not stressing about what well meaning person is going to ask my when I'm due.
I used to wear tight tops, it wasn't until after babies that I noticed how tight everything was, and my belly wasn't neutral as it was before. Good job noticing and finding pieces that make you confident.
I was that "well meaning" person....twice! I hate to admit! But never again!! I learned my lesson! So sorry it happened to you! I've had 4 kids of my own....I should have known better than to make that mistake, especially twice!
@@texasmimi5566 Having done that once, I think I can say the only thing worse that being the person asked,is being the person asking. Thankfully, the sweet lady I asked was wise and gracious, and had a bunch of kids. I didn't have any yet,and had no clue.
I’m 33 weeks pregnant and I’m all about comfy and feeling good in my clothes. Dresses are my absolute favorite right now, they can be dressed up or casual. Just slip it on, add a few accessories if wanted and done. You don’t have to worry if your belly is showing or anything.
I’ve been pregnant, nursing, or in between for 12 years. Thank you Diana for giving your input on maternity clothes. The older and more minimal I get the less I tend to keep as well. I do keep all of my jeans and my favorites from each season. I find that keeping jeans to go up and down in sizes (only a couple each) saves me a lot of money but I enjoy getting new tops through my seasons now.
You have definitely influenced my stewardship attitudes over the past few years! I'm about to welcome our second child on Monday, and everything you said about a maternity wardrobe is the route I took this past pregnancy. True story- none of my clothes from the first round of pregnancy fit. This time I thrifted a few pieces, but bought one high-quality, simple wool dress (non maternity) that I have worn and mixed and match up and down at least 3x's a week. This dress has served me so well, I hope that it will continue to be a nice piece for fall, winter and spring in the future!
I went to a clothing swap the other night, I picked up a floral wrap top… I wore it yesterday and I felt so much better… I’ve been wearing lots of black and grays for the last year
I love having all of my clothes hanging in my closet area, and shoe rack that fits 9 pr of shoes. Only items in drawers are Jammie’s, sweatpants, undergarments and socks. So easy peasy! Thank you Dawn, you opened my eyes and gave me the confidence to drastically simplify my wardrobe.
I agree...I'm not at the weight I want to be, but i finally decided I needed clothes that fit, rather than feeling miserable every day. But I replaced with styles I know I like, in bigger sizes, using ThreadUp, so I saved a lot of money and got stuff I loved.
I cleaned houses for a few years as a job with my daughter and what we saw in every house was as the kids moved out the women took over another closet. So 4 bedrooms meant that the women had four closets full of clothes. It drove me nuts. They couldn’t use all in a year but never got rid of anything.
So true, Denise! My mother not only took over all the closets, but also every dresser and chest of drawers in all the bedrooms, including my dad’s after he passed!
I am trying to do the 333 and I popped all the things I didn't really like in a big drawer and then, after a week, I was so happy they were out of sight that I chucked them into three bags and zoomed them off to the Op Shop before I had a chance to think about it and I was so glad I got rid of them that I didn't even go in to the Op Shop to look for more things - which I sometimes do. I just ran for my life and now I'm so happy!!! I haven't actually counted what's left in my wardrobe yet; I'm just resting on that high for a bit. 😆👍
My closet is the last thing that I haven’t yet decluttered for fear of getting rid of something that I “might” fit into or use again. I feel like the closet will be the most difficult area to tackle……this gave me the encouragement I need to get started. 👌🏻
I feel the same way, Maeve! Everything in my closet fits me & because I have so much, it's all in great shape...so that's what makes it tough for me. I want the benefit of a simplified wardrobe...but it's not going to be easy! Good luck simplifying your closet! Dawn is cheering us on! 😉
Same. I’ve decluttered some clothes but it was stuff that I had worn out til it was unwearable. So that’s what I’m gonna do for the most part is not by anything I don’t need clothing wise and then wear things til they can’t be worn and gradually detach myself from clothes.
Such a good discussion and I loved seeing inside your closets. I totally agree that when the closet isn't overstuffed and things can be easily put away and have a designated home ....it's much easier to put away. I would like to offer a different perspective on maternity clothes. Everyone says not to invest in maternity clothes since it's such a short season, etc....I think one should also know themselves and their body and lifestyle. I have had 7 kids in 10 years and I followed the usual advice for the first couple of pregnancies of just buying cheap and lots of second hand items. But I discovered that I would be in this season for a while and I also want to feel amazing during pregnancy so I started buying nicer pieces knowing that my weight during and after pregnancy is pretty consistent.....after 7 kids I still weigh about the same as I did before having kids. And I tried to invest in items that could work after pregnancy as well. So I have an expensive maternity blazer from Nordstrom that I still wear now that doesn't appear maternity. But even if I can only wear a pair of Madewell maternity jeans during pregnancy and not later it still was worth it to me....to value that time, to emotionally feel good during this special time when you might not feel as physically good. All that to say, it's not a one size fits all and I wanted to comment in case it might be of interest to a new mom to be 😄
The beauty of just trying Project 333 is that even if you don’t get down to the 33 items, you’re probably still going to simplify your wardrobe from its starting point. I’ve recently lost 50 lbs, so buying new (smaller) clothes has been fun. I’ve realized I need to make a full stop or I will keep giving myself an allowance to do it because of my personal success.
Currently 31 weeks pregnant. I got two pairs of Kindred Bravely leggings and have lived in them ALL winter and into this spring. I got a pair of maternity/nursing pajamas from KB as well. Most of my shirts are either previous shirts/sweaters that still fit and shirts that I’ve gotten from my local Buy Nothing group. Now I’m investing in a couple of nice KB maternity bike shorts and athletic style shorts and a few maternity/nursing dresses. The bike shorts go well under the dresses to help hold things in😂 Investing in KB has been a bit more expensive than something from Walmart/Target, but I really wanted good feeling clothes that last since it’s our first baby!
I'm a fashion lover and Diana those plaid slacks are so classic and cute in any season. I love the blue blouse, too! That dress is perfect for summer! I love flowing dresses on others. "Got to wear clothes." 🤣 Yes, yes we do. 🤣
and sincerely.. I took a bit of weight and feel to change style season of life too.. and I felt quite discomfort and even sad to be honest with clothing lately.. opening my closet and feeling quite confused, even having very few items.. and felt.. very comforted watching your video.. that size style change.. thank you for your kind comforting approach, that allow us to feel out of guilt to let go, evolve.. as it is in fact totally normal actually :) thank you, from the bottom of my heart to both of you :) (sorry for my mistakes in English... french speaker.. :)
I went through that, too. I got older, my body changed, and I gained weight. I didn't know how to dress this body. It was totally different. It took me 15 years to get used to the new me, and I'm just finding a style that works for me. I used to be slender with an hourglass shape, and now I'm thicker with an apple shape. It felt surreal. I even dream about myself how I used to look, never how I look now. I have finally come to terms with real life in my closet, however. 😁
@@edennis8578 thank you for sharing your feeling. God.. I felt ashamed as I am confident in life and grateful for what life already offered offers and will offer.. let's embrace with confidence that lovely unknown is.. as might be that new and marketing picture that confuse us.. but it is natural evolution and sign to be alive :) and so, I feel sincere joy and embracing your new you too :) in deep it is still us :) just the shape evolves :) sorry sincerely, I hoped not to be impolite in my speech in anyway ! as i deeply felt this yesterday and receiving your words made an echo to that feeling, so I felt a deep gratitude as your message conforts the feeling of.. it is time to accept and do with what it is and behind to trust back life ! :) thank you dear madam for your gentleness and taking time for sharing your experience :) that conforts my baby steps :)
I had a minimalist wardrobe when I was pregnant and I couldn't wait to get more clothes! I can't imagine doing it all the time. I need variety. I do love the tips about not keeping anything we don't like, or to not keep any guilty clothes and I've been applying it for a year now.
YES! So happy to see this video and that you’re talking about being pregnant and what to do with the clothes that don’t fit. I’m pregnant with #3 and it’s been a struggle every pregnancy.
I just changed out my wardrobe for the coming season (YAY! Finally wearing sandals occasionally!) and realized I had way too many "what if" pieces hanging around. Paring down and packing away only the favorites felt SO GOOD. Thanks for sharing your closet with us, Diana! When I was pregnant, I shopped second hand for nice maternity pieces, since I was working in an office environment and had to try to look professional.
I really took that episode to heart with project 333 and I swear I have been a happier person. I’m pregnant (34 weeks now) and it has worked perfectly. Everything in my closet fits for my pregnancy and I cannot wait to go back through my clothes once I am fully healed after delivery. It takes away all of the negative talk about size, etc.
I try to de clutter all other aspect of my home, but I do think that variety is the spice of life when it come to my clothing which I have taken real joy in the collection. So on this one gals, just thanks for the ride. But I so love it when you both get together.
Within the last year, I've dropped an incredible amount of weight (from size 24 to 4 or 3XL to XS) . So with every significant size drop, I've shopped second hand clothes. With every shopping trip, the one in one out rule applied, but I actually found that it was so easy to to get rid of the entirety of the too big size. In March, I hit my goal weight, and now I'm ready to cull more too big clothes. The 33 idea sounds good, but living in California, it's really best to layer than to have a "winter wardrobe" so like yesterday, I was literally wearing 4 shirts, today is only 2. So I'm not sure how to keep the wardrobe that low, when wearing that many layers, and the layers have to be so diversified. Thanks for listening!
Yes, layering is key! Whether it's big weather changes all in the same day or going from air conditioning to summer heat, layers get the job done! I haven't tried 333 yet but I'm not sure how it would possibly work when I wear up to 4 layers a day sometimes!
Diana, My Dad always said, If I put it on together, it goes together. 😘He was slightly color blind, so he needed help matching. I like the black pants and blue shirt together. I smiled when Dawn looked at the pants like, mmm, and there was a top of almost the exact pattern right behind her. I think you did a great job picking out cute things! So excited for #3!❤️🙏🏻 for you both, from SC, Jane☺️
@@ritaschweim4684 Diana's closet. The plaid top is the only piece I recognized. She has worn it in several of her videos. It must be one of her favorites, and since it is a unique pattern I recognized it immediately.
Yes, I have more than 33 pieces of clothing but have come so far this past year with minimizing my wardrobe. Thank you for all your helpful videos! Belly bands and sweatpants are money savers when pregnant.
I can tell the two of you apart in childhood pictures because your smiles are slightly but definitely different. As a teacher, I had a couple of pairs of twins I could NOT tell apart if they weren’t together and it was nerve-wracking because I so wanted them to know I appreciated them as individuals.
Great video! I've found that f I feel good in what I wear it motivates me to eat healthy and exercise. I add a few pieces to my wardrobe in the spring and fall. Or before a vacation. I'm finding it easy to be more minimalist if I actually wear what I buy
I would say that my only dilemma now is that I have no more room for storing away the extra clothes 😂😅 I've actually downsized my wardrobe considerably, but between seasonal items, sentimental items I'm still not sure about, AND various polyester tops I'm seeing if I can do without, my container they live in right now is full... ...Saying that out loud makes me feel so ridiculous because there are countless people who would feel SO blessed to have some of these outfits I'm selfishly holding onto 😕 I'm starting a new job this week (after being unemployed for several months post-contract) so I vow right this moment to aim for wearing everything in my closet and to ruthlessly discard anything I don't absolutely love wearing! (or anything I keep avoiding, for that matter) Thank you ladies for kicking my brain into gear on this again! It's time for Round THREE to *really* cut things down to a minimum this time! 😘
Loved seeing your clothes for pregnancy, Diana! I was in your position last year with my third and I totally agree with you. Not much from my first two pregnancies fit the same or at all, I pretty much wore the same few things most of the time and I just was trying to make it through! Lol! I also bought a similar dress from target last year and got tons of use out of it and lots of compliments on it. I even wore it post partum for a bit. So happy for you and exciting to see you pregnant with #3! Congratulations!
"I have to wear clothes, it's a rule" is a mood I'm feeling Diana!!! I'm a mom of 4 and you're correct, what you fit into on a baby 1 likely WILL NOT fit on baby 3 and 4. It's not just you!
When I shop for clothes the item must be a Wow, I love it or it doesn’t go home with me. When I was depressed I hated everything in my closet but when I wore things I loved my mood improved dramatically. No more buying hnn it’s ok & I love everything in my closet.
Love you two! HI Diana, I learned from @useless (as in Use Less) that to make a outfit a little more cool and current, contrast styles meaning, rather than putting a top wirayon top with the plaid pants you would put a more casual top... say a long sleeved white tee shirt with the sleeves pushed up and nicer white sneakers maybe, and maybe dainty jewelry to balance the nicer vs. casual. I had to watch a few of her outfit ideas to get it but I've found it helpful for looking and feeling cuter and more casual chic...btw this pregnancy has you glowing ! 💕
The maternity clothes are adorable, and the blue top will look great with your check pants! I need tall clothing (not what companies call "talls" because the inseams are NOT long enough)! So I bought tall knit pants in larger sizes and wore elastic waist knit pants during my pregnancy. It was all I could find that was long enough. It actually worked great because I wore them after giving birth until my body adjusted and my regular clothes fit again. Love your IKEA closet set up...going to have to look into that!!
I dont do the project 33 but in my minimalist journey I found the daily connoisseur. I actually do her ten item wardrobe. It has been a game changer. I feel so much better with my clothes.
I also do a version of the 10 item wardrobe. I color code by the season, and keep those items in the front end of my closet, so I can see what my options are.
I have the opposite of a common problem, my weight has never fluctuated, so everything I’ve ever owned still fits, makes it tough to weed things out, especially when I’m uninterested in trends. I can do the 333 challenge though, and pare down to my favorites, great idea, thank you!!
in fact, I noticed that less I have, more I care about them, and all is interesting, thank you for all the inspiring content, from both of you :) lovely sisters ;)
One very important piece of information I have learned from your channel is, only clothes in your closet that fit and you love. However, I love clothes and have an extensive wardrobe, not as many as in the past. And yes, I wear them all. So, thanks for sharing!
I've loved using Kid to Kid (our child resale chain - they also buy and sell maternity clothes) because I could buy what I needed for the last 3-4 months and then sell it back. Overall I didn't lose much money, it was almost like a rental and I didn't store things and had everything that was seasonally.
Great advice! I’m on a weight loss journey and as I dropped a size I’ve bought some “second hand” clothes online. People are selling brand new stuff very cheap (probably because they left it too long to return it to the shop). I get the feeling of having new clothes without spending a ton while I’m planning to lose more weight. As for my old clothes, I just keep a small suitcase of my absolute favourite things that don’t fit again yet.
I was pregnant mostly in the warm months and it was so nice to just have a couple dresses, a pair of leggings & tank tops! I got 99% from my sister and I purchased ONE cheap tank top. It was perfect!
Remember that 33 piece interview. Inspired me to start pulling my wardrobe together- bought two tops, and still no dress pants, if I have to return to the office tomorrow I'll be wearing the same pair of pants day after day after day. Sigh.
Yes! That orange dress! I've been purging clothes but the seasons of pregnancy, postpartum and in between when you're back to your normal weight is hard! I have bin full of clothes that I have to dig through every season to see what fits for the current season! Doing that for four babies is exhausting 😆 Congratulations Diana!
How timely is this? I am in my closet now and just took a break. Checked my UA-cam notifications and there you were. You are an answer to my prayers in many ways.🙏🤗
I love that you two have different styles. Dawn is so funny trying to be polite because it is just not her style. Blue and black do go together and that top will look fine with those pants.
I simplified my wardrobe after watching one of your videos. I love it so much. I can wear everything in my closet. It all fits. I love it. I feel great when I am getting dressed in the morning. Thank you.
Very true! I lost 60 lbs and I thrifted an entire new wardrobe. I love thrifted vintage pieces and it was fun to find new "old" gems! I did keep 4 pieces from my tub of smaller clothing. Everything else got donated.
Dawn when you held up that blue shirt to you I personally thought wow that color really would look great on you. I've noticed this in the past year all the colors I said no to actually look flattering on me and the colors I had always went for look dull. Isn't that interesting? I would have never thought. Thanks for the video ladies. I'm inspired to go through my dresser and closet....again. lol
I got all new maternity clothes for my fifth pregnancy. Everything coordinated with cobalt blue. I also had a dress I really loved and a real maternity bathing suit. Luckily I subbed at the different campuses of our school so I could wear the same things over and over.
I got rid of about 75% of my wardrobe after watching your videos. I still have too much and am getting ready to get rid of more. I've made a list of what I really need. I'm excited about getting rid of the extra.
This was awesome!! I am due in June and I agree, my maternity clothes from my first pregnancy- most of them don't fit this time around. My body is just a different shape now that I'm on my third. I donated almost all my maternity clothes- and got some leggings to fill in the gaps. I am totally with you, I am just trying to make it until I have this baby I don't want to spend a ton of money on clothes for only a couple months.
Isn't it crazy how much our bodies change from pregnancy to pregnancy? I had the same experience a few months ago. Congratulations on your littlest addition 💝
Excellent timing for this video. This is the end of the winter season for me, so this is the perfect time to look at what I have been wearing and donate what I have not been wearing. Thanks again for another great video!!
Awe Dawn!! Bless your heart!! That interview with Courtney was awesome!!! I want to try soon!! Your closet looks great Diana!!! Great tips!! So freeing!! Seeing everything as an option is so cool!! Thats the stage im at. I need to fill in a few gaps!! Because I am so short, 4' 6" ,Its hard to find things that fit!! I usually have to buy items that fit mostly!! Like my pants are always long, sleeves are usually long, etc. Not saying it for sympathy, just stating the facts!! Im working on finding a few dressier tops!!! Its a work in progress...lol!!!! :) We think you look lovely no matter what you wear Diana!!! You also Dawn!!
I am excited to take a hard look at my clothes again, and packing it away makes so much sense, because I have been moved for a while and have not unpacked all my clothes and I haven't really missed them, so I feel like I can really let go of alot! Wish me luck!
I can already tell you apart as littles, but maybe it’s because I’ve watched you a lot as adults! I always try to distinguish one twin from another and don’t think it’s that hard when you get to know them in person
Oh my word - I am 12 days away from delivering my second and last baby, so this video totally spoke to me. I have had a hard time decluttering some of my clothes because NOTHING fits now, obviously. I'm just in a weird season of my life. For maternity clothes (for my first and second baby), I bought a few bottoms and tshirts and tank tops that I could wear my regular cardigans. Also, I bought a few dresses that I thought would be maternity friendly and I could wear next year when I'm nursing.
One of my former coworkers was pregnant 30 years ago and I recall she purchased larger sizes plain tops and wore stretch pants or larger size pants. Those were the days in which maternity clothes had logos that were ridiculous " baby on board" or duck motif. She looked classy and was comfortable
The project 333 challenge video with Courtney was great timing for me. I had bought some hangers the week before and was surprised that they were not enough for evrything I owned. I thought I had my wardrobe paired down pretty well to only the things that fit but it was still more than I realized. I tried the challenge starting March 1 and so far it has been working great.
I got 3 maternity dresses at a yard sale for a DOLLAR EACH . I have mostly been wearing what I had in my closet previously but had to pack a lot away. I had a 45 piece year round wardrobe. Now it's about 25 pieces? Didn't count. I love a simple wardrobe. Last week I only wore 8 items all week haha laundry was amazing
Congratulations on your pregnancy Diana! Very helpful video because I've struggled with having piles of clothes and so many "seasons" in my life I'm postpartum 7 months from my 4th baby and I'm breastfeeding so I need clothes that fit and I can breastfeed in. It's a struggle but I'm getting there. I'm going for the mostly all black inventory like dawn for my own list of reasons. I'm really enjoying all the clothing videos. I need big help with paper clutter too. That's how I found dawn. Thank yall
Was able to get rid of around 85% of everything last year (including over 250 pieces of jewelry!) Am working on getting rid of more this spring and am so glad it now takes 5 minutes or less to clean each room except the kitchen... Which takes about 10 minutes... It's a large kitchen 🌸
Your channel is a real Godsend. I've used your videos to help me declutter and I feel SO much better. Almost all of my clothes are placeholders, which is sad. But I have my concept wardrobe planned, which is exciting!
Note only does my size change, my style has changed. My function has changed. I came home, went back to work and came home again… two babies in between there too. What I want to wear has changed for sure.
I like the top and pants together, and the dress is beautiful. I had a dress that style (different colors) for my 2 summer babies and it served me well. I even wore it to a wedding the day after my due date.
At the risk of sounding like Forrest Gump, my Mama always did say, “We wouldn't worry so much about what folks think of us, if we knew how seldom they do.” 😘
🤯 woah

👍👍👍👍👍
Yes indeed!
Oh my word, I love this.
This is a great concept, 425 😊
I recommend Daria Andronescu youtube channel about capsule wardrobe
The first time I encountered a capsule wardrobe was 27 years ago. The maternity-capsule-wardrobe-in-a-Box was being sold at a department store. It included a white short-sleeve tee, black leggings, black sleeveless pullover a-line, swingy, just above the knee dress, and one more piece, maybe another tee. I loved the simplicity of and multi-functionality of it.
I had that too! My son will be 29 in June. That waa the BEST thing. Not having to worry about clothes when I was SO sick for months on end.
It was THE BEST THING!!!!
😢❤😮😢😮
Great video and great message!
In a recent podcast, Kendra Adachi (“The Lazy Genius”) was talking about getting new pants. She said, “I realized I was grumpy because I was wearing the wrong size pants.” Not my pants were too small, not I don’t fit into my pants, just simply - I’m wearing the wrong size pants and need to buy some that are the right size. I loved that and it has stuck with me. Sharing in case it helps someone else think a little differently about their clothes that are the “wrong size.”
Very cute maternity clothes, Diana!
Dawn has a book? Where can I get it?

Having less clothes means hopefully that you really like them, which leads to taking great care of them which leads to being thankful for what you have which leads to a happy life. 😀 When I learned to fold clothes the way Marie Kondo folds them, she would say to thank the clothes. Well, as a believer I thank God for providing and allowing me to have all these nice clothes. It made putting away clothes into a time of worship.
Great idea
I love this! Turning everyday household chores into a time of worship through gratitude. Thank you for sharing this idea.
@@pippas5808 Yes. But I didn’t realize it till I reduced my stuff. It really made me be more thankful for the things I have. 😀
thank you for your comforting testimony :)
So true, Alecia! Can't wait until I reach your stage of success with decluttering clothing!
Same here! I needed to hear it multiple times too :)
Great idea! I am currently working on doing this.
@@janicejettsitter2097 me too :) good decluttering to you too :)
I like the ‘if not today…never’ option.
@@susie5101 that's awesome! It works great.
Even if right now that's leggings and a nursing top 🤣
Editing to add that I was watching this while cleaning out and organizing my own closet and just pulled out 5 items to donate!
You go mama! ❤️ My baby is 4 months old and nothing fits here either. You are beautiful no matter what size you are.
Exact same :)
@@carrieperrigo2319 Thumbs up for your realizing your error, changing it, and apologizing. You are a kind person and other women thank you.
Congratulations Diana💜 Great video as always Dawn. "Our clothes should fit our body not the other way around" this is so true
Dawns giggle at 8:45 made me roar with laughter. Those pants are good for spring , black and white are in!
Wow! You guys did such a good job with this video! Women everywhere need to hear this message. 💖
I heard it and am very glad I did. Good video as always.
Totally agree with you
and sincerely..

Great work!!! I’m on a journey also
Yes, layering is key!
I noticed the plaid top, too!
I have gone through my wardrobe several times recently but this video has inspired me to do it again and pare down even more!
I love the videos y’all do together. You compliment each other so well.
Great advise Dawn. So fun when the two of you are together! ENJOY your pregnancy Diana! 🥰😊🤗
Need this! How do you guys keep putting out such awesome content on your channels? Love!
I love seeing you 2 together. Seems like being with friends!
Great video! I've found that f I feel good in what I wear it motivates me to eat healthy and exercise. I add a few pieces to my wardrobe in the spring and fall. Or before a vacation. I'm finding it easy to be more minimalist if I actually wear what I buy
I so enjoy when you two do videos together. I love the sister vibe ❤️.
Diana- ABSOLUTELY the blue top and the tiny plaid pants ! Adorable! Wear them and feel fabulous!!
I would say that my only dilemma now is that I have no more room for storing away the extra clothes 😂😅
I've actually downsized my wardrobe considerably, but between seasonal items, sentimental items I'm still not sure about, AND various polyester tops I'm seeing if I can do without, my container they live in right now is full...
...Saying that out loud makes me feel so ridiculous because there are countless people who would feel SO blessed to have some of these outfits I'm selfishly holding onto 😕
I'm starting a new job this week (after being unemployed for several months post-contract) so I vow right this moment to aim for wearing everything in my closet and to ruthlessly discard anything I don't absolutely love wearing! (or anything I keep avoiding, for that matter)
Thank you ladies for kicking my brain into gear on this again! It's time for Round THREE to *really* cut things down to a minimum this time!
😘
You girls both brighten my day so much!
@@beckyunderwood4220 that is a great idea!!
Happy Birthday to another bunch of April babies... me, my 3 brothers, my daughter, my niece, my cousin, etc all are April babies
I have the opposite of a common problem, my weight has never fluctuated, so everything I’ve ever owned still fits, makes it tough to weed things out, especially when I’m uninterested in trends. I can do the 333 challenge though, and pare down to my favorites, great idea, thank you!!
I'm still wearing a maternity dress I bought ~8 years ago (never had any babies) and it still looks great. 😁
in fact, I noticed that less I have, more I care about them, and all is interesting, thank you for all the inspiring content, from both of you :) lovely sisters ;)
Sigh.
I am in the middle of going through a Walmart online order now. I kept 1 item out of 8 and love the fact I can do returns to the store.
Yes! That orange dress!
I've been purging clothes but the seasons of pregnancy, postpartum and in between when you're back to your normal weight is hard! I have bin full of clothes that I have to dig through every season to see what fits for the current season! Doing that for four babies is exhausting 😆
Congratulations Diana!
My maternity clothes were like wearing a tent! Be glad they're so cute now!
I did too and found a pair of wool pants I had loved … but in my new size. Made me so happy.
I am drinking my tea and watching your latest video, life is so good! Thank you, girls! Much love from Ireland x
Dawn when you held up that blue shirt to you I personally thought wow that color really would look great on you. I've noticed this in the past year all the colors I said no to actually look flattering on me and the colors I had always went for look dull. Isn't that interesting? I would have never thought. Thanks for the video ladies. I'm inspired to go through my dresser and closet....again. lol
Congratulations to Diana! The two of you together are so sweet. Good tips on the closet stuff. I'm dreaming of a closet re-do, but first the garage 🙂
Congratulations Diana and Princeton! 🙌💕 Love this video ladies! God bless!
Thank yall
Was able to get rid of around 85% of everything last year (including over 250 pieces of jewelry!)
Am working on getting rid of more this spring and am so glad it now takes 5 minutes or less to clean each room except the kitchen... Which takes about 10 minutes... It's a large kitchen 🌸
Those pants would look super cute for spring and summer with bright white gauzy blouse.
Your channel is a real Godsend. I've used your videos to help me declutter and I feel SO much better.
Almost all of my clothes are placeholders, which is sad. But I have my concept wardrobe planned, which is exciting!
The closet i share with my husband was 50/50 when we moved here🤦♀️. I purge every yr, it is now 70/30. This summer it will be 75/ 25💪. Thx 4 sharing💯
You two are the cutest! Love the simple points and being able to make less decisions starting out a day is so helpful.
