- All male passengers coming to India from Dubai can wear up to 20 grams of gold that should not cost more than Rs 50,000 as a duty-free allowance. How much gold can female wear while returning from Dubai to India? Female passengers can wear up to 40 grams of gold that should not cost more than Rs 1,00,000.

But you did not clarified that rules explained by you is for Saudia and other arbian countries or for all other countries like Japan , America, Russia, Canada and so on also have stipulated same rules.

Hi Mamata, I stay in USA, if I am going through Dubai, and want to buy gold, so my currency will be in dollars, so will they allow upto Dollar 50 thousand gold ornaments because in INR 50 thousand is small amount for gold jewelry.

All gold that tourists buy is eligible for import duty.
Please miss information be corrected foreign currency Rs.10,000 ! Under US 10.000 dollor allow to carry for international travel !

As per rules bringing gold without duty is allowed only if the traveler has stayed for more than 12 months abroad. Not every tourist can bring gold like this.

It would be good to clarify that tourists visiting abroad for a couple of days/weeks are not eligible for custom free gold.

As per Baggage Rules, 2016 the tourist who resides abroad for a period less than one year, are not entitled to bring gold jewelery into India without paying import duty. However this point is missing in the entire video.

Hi, the duty rate is incorrect, base rate is 7.5% plus surcharge totally upto 14%, also please check your currency limit, it's not correct as well.

When I was returning from Dubai the custom officer argued that allowance of 50000/ is not for tourist but only if your stay is for at least a year

Officer is right
There are two duty free allowance . One as per Rule 3 & one Rule 5. You should take benefit of Rule 3 if period of stay is less than 1 year. But remember Rule 3 is General allowance which will include all the article in your baggage upto a sum of ₹50000 . So take this in mind
