2K has always been like this. A pull up jumper vs a standstill vs a catch and shoot will all have different timing. Fade aways as well. They’ve had it like this every year since the beginning
The problem isn't that timing changes, 23 did the same thing. Knowing the visual cue you can still hit very consistently, but the timing change is much more exaggerated this 2k (especially for standing shots) combined with a smaller green window (at least with high risk), then you add in latency being wildly variable and it's just too many disruptive factors. Basically, it's too strict to combine with the different levels of lag I've experienced in REC. I've had games with timing basically the same as my court, and I've had games where I released the stick on rhythm shooting a full half second BEFORE the follow through even appeared and got a green.
always practice on outside empty court, cause it has latency, learn to rely on your shot's visual cue instead of trying to learn the timing with muscle memory, and use the rhythm shooting if you're doing catch+shoot or spot up shots. Unless you're good at comboing dribble moves and rhythm shooting, personally i can't do it.
Is it just me or does this feel like the smoothest 2k we’ve had in years? My boys and I really only play Pro Am and Proving Grounds and in there we’ve had no latency issues whatsoever. Park and Rec has had its problems tho.
I like how you said it’s not a complaint. We know when the community doesn’t like a change Mike wang reverts it and it kind of messes up other parts of gameplay. As gameplay director I think Mike knows what he’s doing and I feel the only problem is that he and the game itself doesn’t explain changes good enough. At least it’s good to know there’s a pure green window. I know he might change it back to what it was but honestly I’ve kind of adapted to the shooting. Just time catch and shoots early, standstill regular and off the dribble late.
i think these "load-ups" are always there in 2k. For me the difference b/t c&t and pull-up j is quite noticable. The latter one is more delayed than the normal c&t, it's just the matter of how much, which is based on the shot base (i think?).
Late comment but Tutes, have you tested the shot boost percentage between Low-Risk, Normal-Risk, and High-Risk with Shot Boost? I feel like since there is no pure green window and on High-Risk, you have to green your shot in order to make it, shot boost really wouldn’t make that much of a difference whereas using Low-Risk, your shot make percentage will increase since whites are more likely to go in.
Another thing, a lot of people don’t know. On defense, especially if you are a guard hold the right analog stick in the exact direction of the person you’re guarding. Focus on that and you don’t really need to worry about anything else. Watch how much easier it makes your life.
i think this has always been like this from as long as i can remember as far as input delay i just think it has gotten worse somehow or they have made it worse on purpose how tou indicated to combat zens
Your a God send Tutes, I noticed this last night researching a shot for my 5'9 lock. I can't explain exactly but I think that 50% or 75% release speed is a sweet spot this year among anything involving shooting. Hope you can do a vid on it to see if there's any deeper correlation between visual cue and release speed.
We still got people talking about servers in the comments. The servers are bad but that wasn’t the point of this video at all. 2K is purposely changing up the timing. There is no lag in Blacktop & yet he still got the same results. Did y’all watch the whole video?? This community is dense.
Can you test layup timing profiles? Low Risk Normal Risk High Risk Real Player Percentage I want to know the make / green % for “Very Tight” High Risk vs Real Player Percentage
Its the same as the button you’ll hit whites instead of timing both u only have to time one sometimes just like how with the button u can mistime it and it’ll still go in cuz of the normal and low shot profile
Its simple really If you have fast release you will have a fast tempo and push If you have a slow release you’ll have a slow tempo and push (If its slow you have to hold the stick down longer before pushing it up and vice versa)
It makes sense in one arguement why you would miss the shots at 1:10 because catch and shoot is gone. And i been doing that recently is when I shoot i wait abour .500 something ms and i been making more shots compared to before. But it doesnt makes sense because if you know your animation it shouldnt skew your shot and shot making. So thats why alot of ppl have been missing shots because theyre rushing to shoot and not gathering for half of a second then shooting. I think a big reeason is to deter zen users. Theyll still make shots but it wont be as frequently i guess
I feel like it was like this in previous versions too, Youve just gotta know youre shot really well and you can release at the right time for all the different shot animations. Thats my experience anyways...
I use rhythm on my big man and point guard, I noticed its much more consistent with the Big because im shooting the same catch and shoot shots and stand still. With my guard its super different but this video will help a ton in the sense that i just need to make sure my catch and shoot timing is quicker than off the dribble and stand still shots 💪🏽💪🏽
it makes total sense. You press the button during an Animation, what do you expect the game to do? Instantly cancel out the Animation and shoot? Like the Ball is mid Air in the Dribble but magically you have it in both hands to shoot?
This game is so broken in so many ways. It actually blows my mind how after decades of just making a basketball game every year they somehow broke almost every fundamental way the gameplay mechanics work
Why change the timing of the shot. If they want to make shooting tougher, how about make playing defense worth a damn. If they leave some wide open than they should have a higher percentage of making the shot and green shot. If some shoots a ball while a defender is .5 inch away from you the shooter they SHOULD MISS. That's realistic!
Dunk Timing is always changing too! Every single year I always start off each 2K with no problems dunking! I can dunk in peoples faces, I can dunk using SQUARE and I can dunk using the metered dunk as well without any problems! But after the first week or two of playing suddenly my ability to dunk goes out the window and instead the game decides to force me into the slowest layup animations of all time which of course end up getting blocked more than half the time and it makes me look like a clueless moron! That's where I'm at right now actually! I have a 6'3 Inside Outside Iso Specialist with a 96 driving dunk and HALL OF FAME POSTERIZER and for some reason in the last 3 days my character basically REFUSES to go up for a dunk 80% of the time I actually TRY to go up for a dunk! It literally makes no sense whatsoever! This happens EVERY SINGLE YEAR! The crazy thing is, my guy will prioritize going up for a layup even when my layup was only in the 50s! Why the hell would 2K force my character into a layup when my layup skill is only in the 50s when my dunking ability is at 96 with HALL OF FAME BADGES that are specifically meant for dunking? I honestly wish there was a way to completely TURN OFF the ability to attempt a layup and just force me into a dunk animation even if it leads to me missing more of the dunk attempts!
I’ve lost so many games cause of shooting.. for some reason my opponent hits slightly early and slightly late shots.. however I can’t make shots unless it’s excellent .. it’s crazy!! is anybody else experiencing this??
I believe even with the same shot types, standstill three let's say, the green window shifts a little bit back and forth. I was hoping this would get tested here
Are you going to do a test on the triple threat styles and shooting again? Just looking at Steph’s triple threat style, he might have a longer loaded up when he brings it down low. Previously in the last 2k Joel Embid was the move for shooting.
I don’t think it’s input lag. I think the animation just begins a fraction sooner (with respect to the catch and shoot) which creates an illusion of input lag, but it’s not actually lag. It’s just that the animation begins sooner and throws off the timing. You can clearly see the animation begins for the catch and shoot before the other one which would throw off the rhythm of a shot.
I watch the ball and the timing screws up after I green a shot. I release the same time and method and all of a sudden….every shot is slightly late.. I try to adjust and then it’s slightly early…I believe 2k decrease the green window making it harder to time your shot once rhythm is established….
Same thing I've said for years! I have one simple question. Why is 2K the only franchise that refuses to show us our ping/latency to their servers? I'll tell you why! Because they know their servers are trash AF and they know that ALL OF US would be looking at a RED BAR instead of 3 green lights indicating that our connection is DOG WATER and ALL OF OUR FOCUS would finally be on the REAL PROBLEM that has plagued this franchise from the very beginning of it's inception! The 500-750 milliseconds of lag that has plagued 2K since the beginning would finally be put under a microscope! 2K doesn't want that! Please tell me why Rocket League, Rainbow 6, Rust, Call of Duty, (I could literally name off more than a thousand games) that all will show you your latency to their servers.. but a triple A title like 2K refuses to show us our latency! I wish a 2K content creator with a million subs would read this comment and finally shine light on this subject! It's disgusting how laggy 2K is and it's even more disgusting that for more than a decade they did a good job trying to convince everyone who asked this question that it was THEIR INTERNET having problems when in reality it's been 2K and their shit servers the ENTIRE TIME!
Anyone who played basketball knows what "shot pocket" and "1&2 motion shots" means... That input lag he's talking about is the time of the ball getting to the shot pocket... Imagine you doing a crossover into a hesi into a jumper... Now, imagine catching a ball by your chest into a jumper.... Which you think is closer to your release?
I think it’s logical cuz when u catch the ball ur hands are already up at where ur chin is(where the meter starts), when u standing still u still need time to raise ur hands to that point and of course when ur dribbling u have one hand on the ball so u need time to gather ur hands, raise your hands and then shoot
@@GlobalgamingCJ that’s why the time of how fast ur meter fills is consistent cuz that’s the “shot” the so called “latency” is just natural preparation the players body/hands need to do before entering the actual shot motion. it’d be weird if ur dribbling with one hand on the ball and as soon as u press shooting button u player shoots with zero transition/delay
Exactly, it’s not “AlWaYs ChAnGiNg”. Each shot has its own timing. I thought catch and shoot, shooting off dribble, and stand still shots have always had different timing… how is this some big revelation?
It’s doesn’t sound bad until you realize you’re playing 2k. Then you have to account for bad or good server latency. Then what animation you’re getting for the shot. Catch and shoot it self has like 3 or 4 different animations. A super fast one, a hitch, the input lag one when it takes like a second or two to shoot, and finally a fade when you sat still for a second and it still throws you. Then you have the standard catch and shoot we all know and love. So five. I found fading shifty shooter shoots to be way more consistent.
It could be input lag and rng. If tutes were to test 100 times with 1 shot all perfectly greened, I doubt he make all 100. Idk why he hasn’t made that video.
Even though there is some level of input lag on most if not all games i've never seen input lag on the same level. Couple this with trash servers and it's a damn mess
Again, I like this kind of latency to differentiate different types of shots in a logic way. In real life different types of shots should have different gather speed. C&S being fastest and off the dribble being the slowest. Of course this screws me up badly because I am not a good shooter and just a casual player. Still for the sake of the game being realistic, I still love this chance just like what they did for block and interior defense.
So does the actual shot meter mean anything then? I mean does the meter take into account the differences between animations and as long as you release the button at the top it'll be a good shot?
Ok I kinda don’t hate this IF it means that your shot timing is essentially based on the shooting animation. Release the ball at your player’s visual cue and you’ll green is fine with me
Last night i was left alone on the right wing for a wide open shot. since i had all the time in the world i waited so it wouldn’t be a catch and shoot animation. I already made two 3’s in a row so i didnt want to get mike wanged. waited and waited but i noticed my character was holding the ball next to the head idk why. i shot it anyways. Shot speed was on 1000. Barely touched the button and it just launched the ball slightly late by just taping the button. and im on push. never seen that kind of animation, speed, and ball being held before the shot even after i took my sweet time

You can connect to the servers in the mycourt by inviting an offline friend from the phone
Sucks for guards, having to hit some combo moves and then shoot off the dribble with the stick is ass
@@gucciak-4740 i dunno steezo put up a video, but i didn't watch it.
Is it just me or does this feel like the smoothest 2k we’ve had in years? My boys and I really only play Pro Am and Proving Grounds and in there we’ve had no latency issues whatsoever. Park and Rec has had its problems tho.
You helped me learn my shot timing last year. Idk if I can get it this year
So does timing stability help with this?
I like how you said it’s not a complaint. We know when the community doesn’t like a change Mike wang reverts it and it kind of messes up other parts of gameplay. As gameplay director I think Mike knows what he’s doing and I feel the only problem is that he and the game itself doesn’t explain changes good enough. At least it’s good to know there’s a pure green window. I know he might change it back to what it was but honestly I’ve kind of adapted to the shooting. Just time catch and shoots early, standstill regular and off the dribble late.
tutes n lab always working hard for us❤
i think these "load-ups" are always there in 2k.
Plesee answer this so off the dribble you have to hold it longer then any other timing right ?
Another thing, a lot of people don’t know. On defense, especially if you are a guard hold the right analog stick in the exact direction of the person you’re guarding. Focus on that and you don’t really need to worry about anything else. Watch how much easier it makes your life.
Does strength still matter even without post control, when trying to do post moves? Backing down, spinning, drop step etc..
i think this has always been like this from as long as i can remember as far as input delay i just think it has gotten worse somehow or they have made it worse on purpose how tou indicated to combat zens
Tutes is literally the goat in giving us all the info we need.
Thank you so much 🙏
Is there also an output lag when we release the button?
Your a God send Tutes, I noticed this last night researching a shot for my 5'9 lock. I can't explain exactly but I think that 50% or 75% release speed is a sweet spot this year among anything involving shooting. Hope you can do a vid on it to see if there's any deeper correlation between visual cue and release speed.
Does holding turbo make your shot faster on a catch and shoot?
We still got people talking about servers in the comments. The servers are bad but that wasn’t the point of this video at all. 2K is purposely changing up the timing. There is no lag in Blacktop & yet he still got the same results. Did y’all watch the whole video?? This community is dense.
They are mentioning whatever they want to in the comment section, welcome to free speech.
I shoot 40% from three on a big with a 42 3pt rating with shot stick
Do a 3pt rating threshold video I use high risk
Visually is the best way and rhythm. The way you catch the ball too, that input lag is crazy this 2k
Can you test layup timing profiles?
Low Risk
Normal Risk
High Risk
Real Player Percentage
I want to know the make / green % for

It’s crazy that they have to add all these things this game is so broken and it could be fun at times but the overall offensive experience is crazy
Why 2k ain’t informing us about this! Make this man a developer asap 😂😂😂
No one’s talked about it but how does timing profile impact rhythm shooting
Its the same as the button you’ll hit whites instead of timing both u only have to time one sometimes just like how with the button u can mistime it and it’ll still go in cuz of the normal and low shot profile
Its simple really
If you have fast release you will have a fast tempo and push
If you have a slow release you’ll have a slow tempo and push
(If its slow you have to hold the stick down longer before pushing it up and vice versa)
I feel like it’s been like this the past few years
Yea dis my last year playin 2k 💯
It makes sense in one arguement why you would miss the shots at 1:10 because catch and shoot is gone. And i been doing that recently is when I shoot i wait abour .500 something ms and i been making more shots compared to before. But it doesnt makes sense because if you know your animation it shouldnt skew your shot and shot making. So thats why alot of ppl have been missing shots because theyre rushing to shoot and not gathering for half of a second then shooting. I think a big reeason is to deter zen users. Theyll still make shots but it wont be as frequently i guess
the big problem is the green window being the same ... the green window should move in regard of the input lag
This is a great video dude awesome work
Yo is strong handle effected by height or nah?
I feel like it was like this in previous versions too, Youve just gotta know youre shot really well and you can release at the right time for all the different shot animations. Thats my experience anyways...
No. It wasn’t.
This was the same in previous 2k at least from 19. Zen users exposed themselves because they often took the same types of shots
Can you do legend Badge ranks. Which Legend gives the best value and most effect
We don’t have all that info yet. That’s at least 4 months away minimum
It is always changing. I mastered that cam Thomas jumper and it'll still change even when I release it perfectly.
Dunk Timing is always changing too! Every single year I always start off each 2K with no problems dunking!
I can dunk in peoples faces, I can dunk using SQUARE and I can dunk using the metered dunk as well without
any problems! But after the first week or two of playing suddenly my ability to dunk goes out the window and
instead the game decides to force me into the slowest layup animations of all time which of course end up
getting blocked more than half the time and it makes me look like a clueless moron! That's where I'm at right
now actually! I have a 6'3 Inside Outside Iso Specialist with a 96 driving dunk and HALL OF FAME POSTERIZER
and for some reason in the last 3 days my character basically REFUSES to go up for a dunk 80% of the time I
actually TRY to go up for a dunk! It literally makes no sense whatsoever! This happens EVERY SINGLE YEAR!
The crazy thing is, my guy will prioritize going up for a layup even when my layup was only in the 50s! Why the
hell would 2K force my character into a layup when my layup skill is only in the 50s when my dunking ability is
at 96 with HALL OF FAME BADGES that are specifically meant for dunking? I honestly wish there was a way to
completely TURN OFF the ability to attempt a layup and just force me into a dunk animation even if it leads to
me missing more of the dunk attempts!
SHOOTING IS COOKED WHAT DA HELL??!?!?!
This is why I just use the Rhythm Shooting cause that's a visual cue only
I see what 2k did this year they tried to change the shooting so people won’t use zens but it’s messed the game up
I’ve lost so many games cause of shooting.. for some reason my opponent hits slightly early and slightly late shots.. however I can’t make shots unless it’s excellent .. it’s crazy!! is anybody else experiencing this??
If you have trouble shooting this year just put your jumpshot 3/4 speed, your welcome
🔥🔥
I noticed this about a week ago, faster off catch n shoot and if I dribble create a shot it’s slower fade is slower too than catch n shoot
I believe even with the same shot types, standstill three let's say, the green window shifts a little bit back and forth. I was hoping this would get tested here
Right. Idk why he not testing this. It’s making me feel like him and 2k are playing with us.
It’s definitely an input lag. I play pg and you can definitely feel it. Like you’re stuck in mud. It’s trash
I watch the ball and the timing screws up after I green a shot. I release the same time and method and all of a sudden….every shot is slightly late.. I try to adjust and then it’s slightly early…I believe 2k decrease the green window making it harder to time your shot once rhythm is established….
You just might be the goat Tutes
Man you are incredible Tutes thank you!
Same thing I've said for years! I have one simple question. Why is 2K the only franchise that refuses to show us our ping/latency to their servers?
I'll tell you why! Because they know their servers are trash AF and they know that ALL OF US would be looking at a RED BAR instead of 3 green lights
indicating that our connection is DOG WATER and ALL OF OUR FOCUS would finally be on the REAL PROBLEM that has plagued this franchise from
the very beginning of it's inception! The 500-750 milliseconds of lag that has plagued 2K since the beginning would finally be put under a microscope!
2K doesn't want that! Please tell me why Rocket League, Rainbow 6, Rust, Call of Duty, (I could literally name off more than a thousand games) that all
will show you your latency to their servers.. but a triple A title like 2K refuses to show us our latency! I wish a 2K content creator with a million subs
would read this comment and finally shine light on this subject! It's disgusting how laggy 2K is and it's even more disgusting that for more than a decade
they did a good job trying to convince everyone who asked this question that it was THEIR INTERNET having problems when in reality it's been 2K and
their shit servers the ENTIRE TIME!
W UA-cam Channel Mann🔥🔥
Anyone who played basketball knows what "shot pocket" and "1&2 motion shots" means...
That input lag he's talking about is the time of the ball getting to the shot pocket...
Imagine you doing a crossover into a hesi into a jumper...
Now, imagine catching a ball by your chest into a jumper....
Which you think is closer to your release?
Does this apply to rhythm shooting also?
Will you test which attributes weigh more in terms of making a build. And ranking them would be dope!
I think it’s logical cuz when u catch the ball ur hands are already up at where ur chin is(where the meter starts), when u standing still u still need time to raise ur hands to that point and of course when ur dribbling u have one hand on the ball so u need time to gather ur hands, raise your hands and then shoot
That has nothing to do with your shot but ok.
What setting we use for layups? Real player % or high risk?
I really think they added all the extra shot timing stuff in order to have some cover this year.
🤔 Does timing stability in the jump shot creator matter this year?
They need to just go back to how it used to be this game already feels weird enough
So it’s not RNG on shots? It’s a built in input lag that’s changes depending on the type of shot you take? That actually doesn’t sound bad
in terms of input lag, yes
It’s like he’s trying to do some grand reveal. This video was helpful but I feel there’s information that he’s not giving us.
With these different timings, does your triple threat style affect the speed of your jumpshot also?
Even though there is some level of input lag on most if not all games i've never seen input lag on the same level. Couple this with trash servers and it's a damn mess
Again, I like this kind of latency to differentiate different types of shots in a logic way. In real life different types of shots should have different gather speed. C&S being fastest and off the dribble being the slowest. Of course this screws me up badly because I am not a good shooter and just a casual player. Still for the sake of the game being realistic, I still love this chance just like what they did for block and interior defense.
Can you test the shot stability rating? Does it make shot timing more consistent?
So does the actual shot meter mean anything then? I mean does the meter take into account the differences between animations and as long as you release the button at the top it'll be a good shot?
It’s the green window that’s allowing you to make it after a few seconds
That was my same thought as well....reason why the shooting is inconsistent.. for the cheaters out there and it actually makes sense
I noticed that, glad you dives into this and confirm.
