The Wissenland flag in Total War (with the twin-tailed comet) is actually part of Warhammer lore. Before Wissenland incorporated Solland, its flag was exactly the same, but it had a comet instead of a sun on the pennant the lion carries. This was changed after Solland was destroyed, but some Wissenland nobles stubbornly retain the old flag design in the present day. Got that bit of info from "Uniforms and Heraldry of the Empire".
If we see the Empire as the Germany of the Warhammer world, then Wissenland would probably be Baden-Württemberg. The former Wissenland would be Baden and Solland would be Württemberg. Interestingly, both Solland and Württemberg have the colors black and yellow on their flags, and Ellwangen, for example, is an actual City close to the eastern border of Baden-Württemberg.
Yes. Also on a detailed map of Wusterburg i found names of Allgäu and neighbouring Austrian Bregenzerwald like Sontheim, hitisau, bezau hills... A region that's in the mountainous southeastern corner of baden Württemberg, just as in Warhammer in the mountainous southeastern corner of wissenland....
Could you please go into more detail on the uniforms and famous units of the provinces? I was surprised you didn't mention that Nuln has unique army uniforms (black with a little red trim) so they can hide the soot and gunpowder from all their machines.
Great vid! Must have been a lot of work to gather all the Information. Maybe you could make a Video about the famous regiments of the Empire for example the Sterntower Marksmen
I'd love a future video about the Vampire Counts. Their time as counts of the Empire. How they became vampires. and their current situation of technically still being apart of the Empire, but not really. Their the only race im still confused about their origins. Beastmen are just chaos warped people/animals. Nagash made the tomb kings. The Wood Elves and Dark Elves are just runaway High elves. All the human factions are just evolved caveman. I just feel like the Vampire Counts must have one of the most interesting origins. Because they arent quite undead, they arent quite chaos, and they definitely arent quite human. They are forced to be an uneasy combination of the three
I really love your videos. I was just wondering, how many imperial provinces there was originally and how many of them have disappeared besides Solland? ^^
Ohhhh, thx for the response. So Solland, Drakwald and Sylvania. Sylvania to the Vampires I guess. Solland to the greenskins and Drakwald to there own incompetent leaders. I would like to see a lore video about Drakwald. Thx again anyway. ^^
I'm not sure if I got this correctly, so Solland is the part between Reik and Sol or the part between Sol and the Grey Mountains? I ask because I always thought it was the most southern province before its annexation ?-)
interesting, I think the black and red checkered pattern on the flag for Wissenland is reminiscent of medieval heraldry order to families are merged as one.
I think Nuln's indy status has everything to do with the imperial gunnery, in that it is a vital strategic piece in supplying the other provinces with firearms and without firearms the empire would be shit. Hence, you dont want an entire province to wield that much power. Also its wealth largely stems from the other provinces buying their stuff. The rest of Wissenland is kept in short suplly of firearms, because their productive capacities are needed to sell(moar money) them to places in much more need of them as well, as Wissenland is a relatively pieceful province compared to the rest without much stragegically vital parts outside Nuln, which lies all the way to the north, backed up by Reikland. So who cares if some shit towns along the long way towards Nuln are overrun at times.
Would love to do a vid on queek but you may have to be patient on that one trying to work through missing lords of playable factions first then on to the ones not yet in the game and queek is near the top of that list.
Comparatively. Elves can live for millenia, and very, very few die of old age. Dwarves can live for a few centuries at least, and that is without any kind of magic trickery.
33:18 FUCKING SUBTITLES SAY, QUOTE: "LARGEST DEMOCRAT IN THE KNOWN WORLD!" XDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXD FUCKINGSUPPOSED TO BE DEMIGRYPH!!! FUCKING LOVE IT, UA-cam, BUT SHIT! XDXDXD
Even though this series is „older“ the german name pronunciation is off on most names. I enjoy hearing the lore though. Wissenland would roughly translate to „Land of Knowledge“… I think
u read Vissenland FFS !! its from Vis - latin word for power... u pronounce everything in the Empire more german like cos its reikspiel - a butchery of german but still german like, so W is pronounced the same as V in american (cos its not english any more). And its SOLLAND not Soland - two L's
My last name is actually Solland. Didnt know my parents and relatives were warhammer fans
lo0py you are in Warhammer now
Your parents never told you about what happened to your ancestors because its a touchy subject and they were trying to shelter you..

Keep up the good work. This is by far my favourite lore channel I've come across!
Love your work man, best and most thorough lore vids on youtube.
Could you please go into more detail on the uniforms and famous units of the provinces? I was surprised you didn't mention that Nuln has unique army uniforms (black with a little red trim) so they can hide the soot and gunpowder from all their machines.
Another great video! Glad I found your channel. One topic that may be interesting would be a look into Archaon the Everchosen.
Amazing videos! Was looking for something like this
Keep up the good work. These are brilliant

Ok... it's NULN GOD DAMN IT, NOT "NUL-IN".
I really love your videos. I was just wondering, how many imperial provinces there was originally and how many of them have disappeared besides Solland? ^^
3 in all Solland, Drakwald and Sylvania which is officially part of Stirland I think.
Ohhhh, thx for the response. So Solland, Drakwald and Sylvania. Sylvania to the Vampires I guess. Solland to the greenskins and Drakwald to there own incompetent leaders. I would like to see a lore video about Drakwald. Thx again anyway. ^^
It would be nice if we could reforge Solland or any other lost kingdom or Karak.
I wish they added all the things you say in your lore videos in total war warhammer2 , but oh well heres hoping for warhamer 3.
Vid about schwarzhelm pls and talk more zbout what happened to characters in the end times i loooove your channel
And the tall demigryph guy :D
Jacki he won’t do end times cuz he hates the lore of the end times
Can you do a lore video on the now defunked province of Drakwald?
I'm not sure if I got this correctly, so Solland is the part between Reik and Sol or the part between Sol and the Grey Mountains? I ask because I always thought it was the most southern province before its annexation ?-)
A lot of things form the hansa league are incorporated in the lore.
interesting, I think the black and red checkered pattern on the flag for Wissenland is reminiscent of medieval heraldry order to families are merged as one.
you think you could do a video about sylvania?
Great vid! :D Btw, whoever says wisenland is just plain wrong: that in German (aka Reikspiel) would be Weisenland.
German and reikspiel are not 100% the same it it Wissenland
I hit Wissenland next to Middenland in Total War because I want a tank.

in the videos you made on missing units if y play with radious mod you get everything named or almost
Jeez.... I'm still dying.....

I think that you should rename this video as Wissenland & Solland
Whats the source for the halfling university in Nuln? Never came across that.

please please do a longgggg vid about queek headtaker
Would love to do a vid on queek but you may have to be patient on that one trying to work through missing lords of playable factions first then on to the ones not yet in the game and queek is near the top of that list.
Ok thanks man
and it's the Nuln Ironsides not ironsiders
Does every race except humans in Warhammer live for ever basically?
Comparatively. Elves can live for millenia, and very, very few die of old age. Dwarves can live for a few centuries at least, and that is without any kind of magic trickery.
These ''fake'' fantasy maps are more detailed than most real cities :D
So theyre the Germans of the fantasy Germans?
Assalamualaikum

Don't wanna be "that guy" but isn't it pronounced vissenland?
Even though this series is „older“ the german name pronunciation is off on most names. I enjoy hearing the lore though. Wissenland would roughly translate to „Land of Knowledge“… I think
@@chesterpanda even the english pronunciation often is.
