  • Review of Onix Durafast 40 pickleball.
    Firmness: 10/10
This is the firmest ball on the market that I am aware of. For this reason, some players love it while some hate it. It plays fast due to the firm plastic.
    Out of Round: 6/10
This ball will get out of round fairly quickly. When hit hard, this ball will develop flat spots and will get misshapen.
    Playability: 8/10
Even though the ball gets out of round at times, it still plays somewhat consistently. The flat or lumpy spots affect play on occasion, but not terribly often. Less so that the Vulcan VPRO Flight.
    Breakage: 4/10
This ball will break fairly often. It is one of the least durable balls on the market. This wasn't always the case, as years ago Onix produced a ball that lasted a LONG time and stayed round. I wish they would bring back the Onix 503 pickleball! It was the best!
    Longevity: 5/10
This ball doesn't last long because of the breakage. It doesn't have a chance to get soft, it simply splits near one of the holes.
    Price:
Middle of the road pricing with this pickleball. Unfortunately, many people won't continue to buy this ball because it doesn't get used at many tournaments anymore.
    Overall:
This is my personal favorite pickleball, but I understand why many other players, especially newcomers, wouldn't want to use it. It needs to be replaced too often.
What do YOU think? I'd love to know your thoughts on the Onix Durafast 40 pickleball!

Great review DJ. It’s an awesome warm weather ball. Hard to play with below 60 degrees. And the optic green color does not play the same as the yellow.

I like it still for summer months. Here on the PNW though the cracking gets worse as we tend to be a bit cooler on the ambient temps.
