I enjoy your videos! I built a shelter for my LT 15 shortly after I got it. I built 2x4 trusses for the roof. I made trusses because I planned to use an eletric winch mounted overhead to turn the big logs. It works great. I bought the winch at harbor freight. It has a remote controller. I use a 12 volt deep cycle battery. I mounted a solar battery charger overhead outside of the shelter to keep the battery charged. I mounted the winch to a oak 2x6 long enough to contact three of the trusses, but not fastened to the trusses, just lying on top of the bottom 2x4s of the trusses. That allows me to move the winch if I need to. Have a Great Day!

Mike, how can you be anything but optimistic being around Melissa. She is so upbeat while, keeping it real. Thanks for sharing your lives on UA-cam and giving your viewers a positive boost during a hard time for many people. God bless and howdy Hunter.
Take care of the equipment that provides for you, maintenance is the key. Liked that ground level shot of the sawmill doing it's thing, whole new perspective . Dogs much like children, give them plenty of physical activity and fresh air and they tend to stay out from underfoot. The negative news tend to get shared much more then the positive . Both of my chocolate Labs are twig and bark eaters ,have been since since they was pups. I've got a pot roast in the slow pot myself. I'd be outside more, but we got 6" of concrete snow last night. Hannah did a great presentation on the swag. That little cutie in the outro is beyond precious !
Thank you, both, for posting such positive and uplifting content!!!! It is so important for all of us to remember that day to day life goes on..... We are all connected as humans, but even more so in the beautiful community you have created ❤️🙏.
I'm glad Nathan is giving you tips. He's absolutely amazing. That woodshed might be a tad over built, but next winter under a heavy show load, you'll be glad you built it that way.
Mike, one thing that you may need to prepare for after the sheds are built are boring carpenter bees, especially on the pine beams. We took care of that problem by covering all of the exposed beams with metal.
Greetings from Connecticut! M&M - with all that is going on in the world it is so comforting to know you are always there with a smile and a happy distraction for all of us. Keep up the great work and look forward to all that you have going on. Stay safe and be well!
Thank you. My little girl is a month shy of 2 years old and she just loves being outdoors with me. When she sees me getting my boots and coat she runs to the closet to get hers so she can help me with the firewood.
The little girl ''Cali'' at the end was sooo cute when Dad introduced them both and she actually looked like she nodded her head when her name was said, too cute !! Great channel !!

it's so nice to see your Videos ...... with all the bad news on TV and all across the Internet.. it's nice to find your videos. You bring good feelings of Healthy Living and Fun work in the outdoors..... THANK YOU.......
Good morning Mike and Melissa, great video. You have the sawmill loading and milling down real good and turning out good lumber. Can’t believe nobody has contacted you for that stack of bark on cuts beside the mill?? Lot of good stuff going to the burn pile! The Wood Shed is coming along good. It’s great knowing everyone is adapting to the hunker down and stay at home situation right now. Hope everyone in your area are remaining calm. Thanks for sharing with us. Fred.
I am cutting my grass tomorrow for the first time this year. I am so excited about it I am thinking about blowing the dew off with the blower so I don’t have to wait for it to dry.
Mike & Melissa - Another winner. Thanks for sharing. The two new boards for the header will really make the wood shed begin to take shape. Blessings to the family. Hi to Hunter.
Really enjoy you Videos. We are all house bound now and will be for the foreseeable future. I know it takes a lot of work to make them but I am so grateful to you and your family. Thank you, John
Sure, Hannah did a real great job, she talk like you Mike, it's clear and easy to understand for a french speaking guy, don't worry too much Melissa you're doing a real great job too, you make me laughing very often but sometime you talk fast so I make a little back up on the vid. So have a nice day and take care friends Tyrrs. Jacques from Quebec Canada, staying quiet at home and too much snow to work in the forest for the moment. Here no grass cutting practicly before the mid of May.
I think Piper may have been a Forester in a past life. I noticed Ruger just chews on any chunk of wood for comfort. But Piper looks at what Mike's doing, and does something similar when he's cutting a tree or branches in to rounds, Piper's taking a branch or twig and snap it into smaller pieces. at the Mill she looks at the peace that you just cut and finds a similar but proportional size one to drag around. Love that little Cali in the outro. She's warming up to the camera like Melissa did. Lookout dad she's going to push you out of the way and start doing the whole thing pretty quick. LOL
Morning Guys Just a thought for your slabs off the mill Use the chipper to make chips to put them on your trails using the dump trailer Return to nature for compost material Let me know what you think or maybe chip and sell as mulch for flower gardens lots of uses come to mind Something more to keep u busy while we are all stuck at home More deaths reported in Canada We all need to just stay home and endure All the best from Allenford, Ontario Canada as always Keep the videos coming to relieve my self inflicted boredom lmao
Staying busy during the day[trying to], lots of places closed here but hanging in. Rain. . . the bane of outdoor work. 82 degrees yesterday and 66 today. Go figure! Like them beams ya cut, overkill sometimes the way to go. Be safe up there and have a good day.
Mike, those headers are not too big. They are just like (2) 2x10's with 1\2" plywood inside, perfect! Melisa, the more you exercise, the hungrier you get, don't worry about it.

The amazing thing is how much things are changing by the day. I think here in Pa we are heading towards a 14 day quarantine. I just need to pick up fuel for the tractor and I will be good to go.
Hey love your videos. But curious. You mention from time to time your family. I'd love to see a video more about how y'all met and more showing your kids and how they adapted to the home stead life. Love the intros & outros, but did notice they are repeating - will have to put one together from Mississippi. Melissa you wear the Penguins hat a lot - I love hockey also but am a Dallas Stars fan - have followed that team since they were the Minnesota North Stars. Glad to hear all family members are okay and that Hunter is adapting. Have a day.
Been wondering if there is a way to switch the log clamps so that you can operate them from the same side as you operate the machine. Looks like a pain having to go around to the other side to clamp the logs. Love your channel.
Have you ever thought about using the slab wood cut offs as siding possibly on a shed for firewood or anything else. Maybe on a side that is not seen from your house. Just an idea. The slabs are all ready cut and the rustic look wood go great in the woods.
Some people say using the oil from your oil changes the old oil is a good stain. It preserves the wood. Makes sense, decayed vegetation is what oil is.
The “Wolf” is back! Love the intro with Wayne and the outro with little Callie and her dad! 👍 Great job yesterday Hannah, how is Levi making out with the maple syrup? Hope all is going well. Have a Day y’all! 😃👍

Air movement is vital for curing fire wood, don't make the back of your building too tight. At least some venting just under the roof.
Melissa, I am still waiting to see your cheese burger soup recipe!!!!😜
That's great your exercising your pups! They are uhhhm spoiled, not lacking for food....? ;) Shed is looking great!
If it’s primarily a woodshed, why not alternate the siding inside and outside the horizontal ‘2-by’s they’re fastened to? It allows for far better air flow.

I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to this but a 1" gap on the wall boards would provide air ventilation for the split rounds of firewood. I have seen this on woodsheds & it seems like a practical way to season up green firewood.

Would it make sense to use that first cut on the WoodMizer (the slabs with the bark on them) as rustic siding?
