    Thank you very much for sharing this type of content for music producers.
    The first video I watched from you was yesterday and today I’m a total sub!
    The video was about the performance for music production in real life tests.
    These type of videos are very helpful.
    I want to switch to Apple and these videos are helping me in creating a path of choice for a device in the foreseeable future.
    Then again, thank you very much for sharing this!

    I'd love to see what your desk layout looks like when you are recording. I always feel I'm trying to reach over my midi to try and get to the mouse or keyboard or have some other instrument in the way... I'm organizationally challenged hahaha!!! Great video though!!!

    • @MattCitrano
      @MattCitrano  2 роки тому +2

      I feel that!! I've had a million different desk layouts in the past 12-13 years (my close friends can confirm).
      What works best for me now is I keep a weighted digital piano on a rolling keyboard stand that I can tuck under my desk. So when I'm recording, literally all that's usually on my desk is my Mac Mini, monitor, interface, mouse, and keyboard. Lots of space for whatever else.
      I think it's really helpful to move either the mouse/keyboard or the MIDI keyboard to a different "tier" or height (this could be achieved with the rolling stand idea, or a multi-tier desk with a dedicated tray, or keyboard tray added/attached later). Just be careful to do it in a way which won't cause significant ergonomic problems using either one.

      @@MattCitrano Thanks so much for this thoughtful response! Having things in "tiers" would solve my problem. I'm gonna play around with that and see what I can come up with. Thanks again!

    Thank you very much. Extreme good pronunciation and speaking velocity. As a German, I could understand every single word clearly. Also a good overall information about this topic. I recently bought a MacBook Pro 16 inch, 2021. Before that I mainly produced music on iPad pros. I just like the portability and that it is only one central unit. Even if that may only mean that I go from my work room into my bedroom or on the balcony. Also, I like that the MacBook starts as fast as an iPhone or iPad (from the resting mode). Greetings from Hamburg in Germany.

      I haven’t made a video on the studio like yet just cause I felt like it was kind of a no-brainer, but I’ll consider it!

      My desk is the IKEA LINNMON, but in what seems to be a sadly discontinued color called "white stained oak effect." Amazon has a lot of great table tops too.
      If you have access to IKEA, I used the OLOV legs which are adjustable so I could raise it just a tiny bit to allow for the keyboard.

    Awesome song! Amazing guitar work! Some of the most controlled melodies forming into some of that beautiful chaos! gives me the impression that you are a perfectionist in the studio.
    One of the things I would like to see from your channel is a more natural sounding environment. If you had a really nice tube amp with an SM57 and an E609, Maybe a live recorded drum program like easy drummer and a decent synthesizer to carry the song in the background without having to resort to distorted guitar that stands out in the mix.
    Unfortunately, Mac production sounds very similar and in order to stand out you are going to have to try other things. Maybe try doing a couple live streams or even some guitar tutorials. Best of luck man. You’ve got talent

    Great video! I want to upgrade my current audio computer and started looking into the Mac mini 16 GB. I mainly use Neural DSP Archetype Plini, waves plugins, iZotope Ozone and neutron. Would you recommend the Mac mini? I read that iZotope plugins have to run on Rosetta. Have you experienced decrease in performance when using any of those plugins on Rosetta? Thanks a lot in advance!

    • @MattCitrano
      @MattCitrano  2 роки тому +2

      I'm in the process of figuring this out for myself as well.
      The OnStage Stands SMS6000 is a very popular choice if you are wanting standard stands which sit on the floor. I have some white ones from VRT which are essentially the same thing, and are pretty great aside from just slightly not going low enough for me.
      I am currently trying out the Gator Frameworks Desktop Clamp-On monitor stands. I'm liking the space savings so far and feel that I am able to angle them in a way which works better in my room.
      I would generally recommend getting something height-adjustable. Another classic desktop option is the IsoAcoustics stands, but be sure to elevate your speakers a decent bit if they are sitting on the desk. If not for desktop vibrations, getting them higher up can have a positive effect as you decrease the amount of reflections from your desk which could color the signal. Hope that helps a bit!
      Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for this super helpful video. I'm currently still running a late 2009 - YES, late 2009 - macbook pro. My MBP has been a great, reliable workhorse, and has put up with the abuse I've thrown at it.
    However, it is now beginning to become incompatible with a lot of things, unreliable and slow.
    Now is the time for me to start considering a new machine and I'm leaning toward either an iMac or MacMini - 16gB of course ;-)/
    Thanks for your amazingly helpful and well made videos - you're clearly extremely talented in many areas - I'm very jealous haha!

    Question for you Matt regarding the Satechi hub, is yours w or without the SATA port? I'm reading some 1 star reviews of static interference added to the audio line, and the fact that the hub is only capable of data transfer. Is it worth the money? I'm considering buying, but also looking at other options, and unfortunately there aren't many options on the market that fits the form factor of the M1 Mini so well. Thanks for any information, greatly appreciated.

    • @MattCitrano

      Mine does not have a SATA port. I like it! I mostly use it for my mouse’s USB receiver and for the SD card slot when I record videos.
      It’s a little thing but a massive help to me personally, especially because it takes up as little space as possible.

I know there will be a new learning curve with the shortcut keys and what not but I've got some projects that I couldn't finish because they kept crashing my really old out of date pc so im going for the M1 pro 10-core and 16-core GPU with 16GB of RAM and SSD 1000GB.
