It depends on their age. You shouldn't really leave kittens under 5 months old at home alone for more than 2 hours. 5 months+ you can leave for up to 6 hours. If you were away for 10hrs every day, it would be best to have someone pop in halfway through the day to keep them company for an hour or so. Cats do get bored and it can lead to destructive behaviour - so it's better to have 2 cats so they can play with each other to keep themselves entertained and have lots of toys if you're leaving them alone all day every day. :)
