  • What you are seeing here is literally the most expensive coral in the hobby today. It is called a Bounce Mushroom, and one this size can sell for a house payment... on a million dollar home. In this video I’ll discuss the trendiness of super high end corals but look a bit closer at what the deal is with these mushrooms.
    What do you think? Are you a big fan of these mushrooms? Let me know in the comments below!

    Reminds me of Tulip Mania back in the 1600's were the Dutch were paying insane prices just for a single flower bulb. Then someone finally realized why are we paying so much just for flowers? People started selling what they had in a panic after the realization and the market crashed in February of 1637 as everyone scrambled to cash in lol. I have a feeling the same thing will happen with this type of coral. People will grow split and sell to recoup the cost eventually the market will get saturated and the prices will crash.

    I saw some single polyps for $999.99 or $699.00 for the less colorful. I'm going to stick with the SPS. Plus, my tank has developed an immunity to most mushroom species. The SPS grows intensely and the clams come and grow and get exchanged for smaller ones but mushrooms just shrivel up and die slowly.

    Great video as usual.. I literally crown you the best at showing what out hobby looks like when we are looking in our tanks.. If I had a crown I would give it to you😁.. I think its a fad also, but one that isn't going anywhere as they aren't that common still years after the first WWC one came on the scene.. I have just recently got my correct (local to me) lineage tye dye mystery jawbreaker mushrooms into colony status and I'm keeping then all.. The fad $ is somewhat gone so I'll keep them as eye candy or a rainy day fund for the next fad I'm into.. Bounce just isn't one I see spending so much coin on.. They are cool though but I'll stick with the sticks..

    I've been trying to get my hands on some more of these, but unfortunately I'm in a typical situation where a good friend "knows a guy" and that guy just happens to have a system that's overrun with bounce mushrooms. Reminds me of the movie Blow where I want to cut out the middle man which happens to be my good friend and get them strait from the source. Only difference... we're just dealing with corals here which also happens to be highly addictive!

    Hi there, Been watching your videos for an hour now and I must say it's exactly what I've been looking for. I've had my 450 litre tank for just over a year now and i'm just starting to go deep into all them kinds of super cool corals. I am based in Moscow, Russia.
    A few questions i hope you can answer:
    1. I've had a couple of LPS corals that didn't survive long in my tank. A hammer euphyllia, and a trachyphyllia. The hammer I found was way too big (and expensive) for a first timer, i guess it never stood a chance. Should I try it one more time with a much smaller piece, so the expense is not that large in case it doesn't make it once more? Regarding the Trachy, i am not really a great fan, and since I am limited in free space in my tank i'd rather try some different LPS corals.
    2. I have noticed you are feeding your corals, how important is that? I am feeding my tank 3 times a day with 3 cubes of frozen Artemia each time. I've noticed that some of my corals are eating on it as well.
    3. Would you know how I can take pictures of my aquarium without the neon effect ruining the picture?
    4. Would love to buy some corals from you, any chance you can ship to Moscow?
    For now what I have in my tank are a couple of scolymia which are my favorites, a few zoa's, a couple of mushrooms and discosomas, and many soft corals.
    5. I found scolymia to be tank friendly, what other LPS corals are as friendly as these beauties??
    6. What is the best way to share my aquarium with the world?
    Wishing a great week to everyone!

  • @Lupen69
    @Lupen69 3 місяці тому

    I'm about 8 years late to the video, I wonder how much has changed since then. I think these look a lot like bubble algae, I'm sure that's a lot cheaper and easier to grow 😂

  • @FusionExotics
    @FusionExotics 8 років тому

    that is amazing, both the coral itself and its value. Generally if something is hardy and easy to propogate/reproduce the price would not be so high. I have been out of the marine/reef hobby for over 6 years so i dont have the best idea of whats "in" or "out" at the moment but i would also assume that finding the right clientele to pay top dollar for one of these are few and far in between?

    • @tidalgardens
      @tidalgardens  8 років тому

      +Fusion Exotics It depends, some corals people go absolutely nuts for and sell themselves for as long as they are the object of desire. For all other expensive coral, it can be more challenging especially for a store that only caters to a single small location.

UNLESS,its a virus in the chloroplasts..as you would get with variegations in land plants..and that virus goes with every cutting.

The only risk is that the hobby moves on to a new coral in the spotlight and the value of the previous hype gets drastically low. You have to buy, grow and sell before that happens.
