This is EXACTLY what I needed to hear. I've been prioritizing a job purely because of how others felt about the company. I got a job offer from a different company with less of a status, but I'm so much more excited about it. I had to sit back and think about my feelings and not others.

Great tips Linda, thank you for your helpful videos. Can you speak on pressure from recruiters to accept a job hastily? In theory obviously we shouldn't bend to pressure accepting jobs that aren't quite ideal however recruiters can make it sound like if you don't respond immediately they will move on. It seems fair that a client provide you with at least a week to think things over or compare against other offers. Sometimes the timing of offers can make things challenging.

For Tip 3 at 4:03, it's tough to do that now cause of the pandemic, I can only feel the culture from the people I interview with online, and it can be deceiving sometimes. So while I appreciate that I don't need to travel all the way to all the interviews, it also gives me a blindspot in which I won't know how the culture and people are in the companies.

Great video. I've been blessed enough to be in this situation before in my career, but in these corona days this is even harder than usual. Getting an idea for culture fit requires a lot of effort on both sides. But you'll not really know what it's like to be in the office - once we return to normality. My current challenge is choosing between a highly-paid contract and a slightly less but (following some negotiation) still well-paid permanent position.
It feels somewhat like a heart vs head choice as the permanent job guys have pulled out all the stops to get me onboard and it's right up my street. The contract on the other hand - well it's a contract, I won't be part of the in-crowd, but the guys seem lovely and want me there long term (it was a 3 month but changed to 12 month as apparently they liked me a lot). I will need to make a decision this week; my usual buddy for these kinds of conundrums is unfortunately AWOL...

They offered me a role but paying slightly less but it’s the projects that I am passionate about. It’s like their ethics vs I know them well and is it better than going for a new company. I have the feeling that some companies have these big structures so that they keep this big pool of substitution candidates because they cannot keep their employees and constantly need replacement. The hiring team is also trying to offer you the lowest possible position so that you feel motivated to stay and grow in the company and never feel confident you are capable of more. Might be common sense but I am new to this.

I am currently between job offers and although $ is important, $ doesnt always = success. Success is measured differently for ppl and i say you choose the job you really wanted in the 1st place!! I am putting this in God's hands and letting him guide me to the job where i can truly be successful.
My goals are to be more like Christ, and to serve others. Success to me means using the fruits of my labor to not only pay bills but to benefit others as well.

This is super helpful right now, thank you so much. I know I am getting an offer from one of the places I interviewed , but I am waiting to hear back from the one company that I really want to work at. Can I call them and tell them I have another offer coming? At least to see if I will be getting an offer? If anyone has any insight or advice, I greatly appreciate it.

Hello Mayra, Yes if you like the second place better, you need to let the other company know about your offer. I did that and they quickly called me back and extended me an offer with even higher salary !

I mean the second one (the one that I really want to work with). So I ended up having two and even more offers. Telling them that you have offers means that you are a very strong candidate. BUT you need to confirm your high interest and motivation to work with the company. Otherwise they will hesitate to lose time with you

Bao Tran thank you so much for your response. I truly appreciate it!!! I ended up calling the company I really did want the job at to let them know I had an offer in hand. In the end, I ended up going with the first company’s offer! It was more in line with my career and they offered me something I couldn’t refuse. I start tomorrow. :)

This should be titled: "How to decide which job offer to accept" rather than "How to accept a job offer" ... Given everything else on your channel, the title is surprisingly inaccurate. Anyway, great tips!
