  • *PROJECT DETAILS*
It all started when water was coming out an open cleanout on our back patio anytime we used the kitchen sink or washer. Turns out, the washer machine drain ties in with the kitchen sink under the slab before running across the house and tying in with the main sewer drain. That T where the washer and sink meet busted. I had plumbers come out to identify the problem and give me a quote. They walked me through how they would do the job and gave me the quote which turned out to be much more than I'm able to pay right now (and their quote didn't include cutting concrete) and I definitely wasn't going to jump into a monthly plan to pay it off. So, using the plan they came up with I decided to take on the project. I did some research and had some family help with details regarding the slope of the pipe. Also, I did ad some rock under the pipe to help with stability before I covered it back up with dirt.
Hope this helps anyone in the same boat as me. Thanks for watching!

    Great initiative!
Some concerns I have to address:
    1. ABS pipe would have been better since is more durable in general and does better against UV rays.
I would recommend coating the exposed pipe with reflective aluminum tape.
    2. It looked to me like you were a very shallow to the surface with the drain pipe.
    3. Usually to prevent clogging the plumbing code recomands that the drain pipe to have a slope of 1/4 inch per foot. So hopefully you have it along the pipe.
4.I'm gonna assume that you had no access underneath the house or basement and that the 4 inch pipe could only have been accessed on the other side of the house.

Thanks for the concern and tips. At the start the pipe is a little shallower than I would like but because of the distance and slope needed I felt I had to start as shallow as possible. I did slope at closer to a 1/8 inch slope to start but It transitions to a 1/4 inch slope pretty quickly.
Good idea about wrapping the exposed pipe. I’ll look into that. Thanks for watching!
