And the funny thing is I don't usually listen to the type of songs she sings. I never felt that kind of urge because I always have a fairly good pair of speakers and never really liked to use a headset. But when I heard her sing 'Home', and then 'Hug Me' and 'Where are you', I truly regretted the fact that I don't have a perfect listening room. It is not just how well she sings but that incredible emotional impact she carries with her songs is simply heart-stopping.

SoHyan has tecnique, she really has trained. Ariana on the other hand, is only tone. Her nice timber, that's the reason why her voice is the way it is nowadays (like the rest of the artists). Ariana is yelling doing those G5 and above, she raises her larynx on C5 onwards, that Ari's B4 is old, not anymore. She strains almost all the time. SoHyan demonstrates ressonance and full control and yes, it is a heavier tone in comparison with Ariana.
You should watch Sohyang's performance in MBC if you're still wondering why she is compared to Ariana. I guarantee that she is one of the best singer in the planet. 'Lean on' of Michael Bolton and 'Bridge over troubled water' of Garfunkel by Sohyang absolutely prove it.

Sohyang brings unparalled full power even on high note where other female singers can not do or their voice become very thin, weak, short which makes Sohyang outstanding out of crowd. On top of that Sohyang is very good at low note which was not highlighted as much as high note. So I recommend you to listen to her songs without prejudice.

Technique vs. strain. Experience vs. naivety. It seems a bit unfair, but SoHyang wins from tone to proper execution. And you could've gone up to B5. They both have beautiful voices, but only one of them is using it properly. I hope Ariana starts realizing the rarity and beauty in her voice and decides to save it before it's too late.

I am a huuuuge arianator, but if i had to be realistic, SoHyang won this. However I prefer Ariana's tone and high notes. SoHyang's high notes are obv better but ariana's tone makes her belts sound beautiful. SoHyang alwaysssss gives me goosebumps when she sings

Ambas son increíbles y unas diosas, pero en cuestión de voz mixta y beltings, Sohyang hasta a otro nivel, no hay nadie como ella. Sin embargo, creo que Ari es mejor en otras cosas, como en melismas, en whistle tone (aunque Sohyang también puede), en graves e incluso en performance. Eso sí, la interpretación de Sohyang destaca más, al igual que la duración de sus notas en comparación con Ari.
De todos modos, ambos son espectaculares y sólo hay que disfrutarlas.
