    I was so wrong on this fight…I thought (wrongly) that Taylor had a solid stylistic advantage inside or outside…Noticed something watching a replay..early in the fight they clinched and Lopez pushed him back EASILY…Lopez had the biggest smile on his face after that…

    I am not a fan of always taking the big step for outside, instead I would prefer to sometimes edging and creeping (smaller steps to outside). As a southpaw everyone knows that’s what is preferred so you have to get creative with gaining the dominant position. 🤷‍♂️ what do you think?

    great analysis especially the part where you talk about Taylor stepping with his jab and being in rage for Teo to hit him back. I learn a lot from your videos

    Definitely wasn't Taylors best night. Lopez was on his A game that night and countered very well. Although I do think the fight was closer than that one judge had it, it was definitely a win for Lopez. I hope Taylor comes back stronger now though, he's a joy to watch when he's at his best.

    Would you say Teo not respecting Taylor's power played a part as well? It seem like after he took a couple of Taylor shots early he started letting his hands go a lot more getting into his rhythm

    • @bboymunchkin
      @bboymunchkin 11 місяців тому

      I think it's more of due to Taylor having a really weak lead hook. A lot less to worry about with only one hand to reapect

      @BoxingGems  11 місяців тому +1

      The full film study is on patreon where I covered this. Teo controlled the lead hand before he initiated unlike Taylor.

    Stepping in with a Jab puts you in mid range and opens you up to all powerful mid range attacks. This makes the jab not the best punch to attack with at mid range. Solid Advice. Great Job.

      I'm glad gems picked up on something in that film study that most who try to analyse the fantasy fight don't. Floyd was always more come forward aggressive against southpaw. Orthodox fighters who fight like that find bud to be stylistic hell. The difference is inside and floyd keeping bud there (which I believe he does enough to win) but its a much tougher fight than people would admit just because Floyd's tendency was to be aggressive or at least be in punch range against Southpaws. I want to see Bud face Spence on the inside, would tell you alot about how good he is. As would him fighting charlo, it's why he needs those fights.

    I didnt think Teo would win this because he was too small and Taylor would be too strong. Loma was catching Teo with straight direct attacks in the latter half of their fight. He used straight direct attacks because he realised his angles were not working. I thought Taylor would capitalise on that, but he is not as quick as Loma hence why Teo was able to time and counter him with ease. Fleet footed fighters I believe will still give Teo issues. He needs to make adjustments to overcome that style.

    Teo got a crazy chin

  • @epic6434
    @epic6434 11 місяців тому

    Taylor kept flicking his jab giving Teo a pattern he could time and Taylor was doing most the counter punching Teo kept lunging in with an attack some were not effective and was countered that got Taylor comfortable to believe he could just wait for him to jump in range but Teo started hurting him backing him up being the taller of the 2 he was pressed to take what Teo allowed him I was kinda surprised Taylor couldn't get inside Teo was greater he began setting traps for Taylor be made him look baffled.

    After watching the fight twice, and then watching this, Teo can have some success at 140. But against Tank or Shakur, he would definitely have problems. That’s probably why he avoided Devin. The foot movement and athletic ability alone would be major problems

      Teo can beat most 147 lbers, and i hope Tank has the balls to fight Teo.

    • @natejohnson5767

      @@manomantax wait a min… most welterweights? You think Teo beats Barrios? You think he handles Ugas? Not sure if Teo could beat Vergil Ortiz or Boots IMO. I think Teo has a chance with Regis due to Regis inability to cut off the ring an his slow feet.
