The Lost Art of Positioning (Inside Advantageous Positioning)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 вер 2023
- In part one we focused on outside to at tange advantageous positioning. For part 2 we focus on inside advantageous positioning.
Too many fighters in this era accept exchanging punches in equal positioning which means they are both set in their stance either bladed or squared. The silent agreement to keep that equal positioning is a tactical regression in boxing and often lends the more athletic fighter and/or the fighter with better top heavy defense the most success. This video explores getting to angles for advantageous positioning.

Great video, I spar a lot of south paws as orthodox and am pretty good at using my jab and stepping around to their weak side, but I get in trouble when they close the distance and get inside. I'll be more conscious of the inside positioning now. Also every time I meet and converse with a boxing enthusiast I tell them about your channel. Can't stress how valuable these videos are; they truly are gems.
🙏🏾 Much appreciated fam
Most of everything I know about the science of boxing is because of you and this channel. Our head coach died earlier this year and I filled in and took over that role. Now I’m finally getting to implement everything I’ve picked up from watching your videos (among other experience). Shoot we just got back from our first nationals in Orlando and now finna head to Louisiana to qualify for junior Olympics in December. I ain’t never coached before but I got all these kids depending on me to teach them and break down the science. All that to say, you really don’t know the impact you making every time you share your knowledge with us! You really out here changing lives whether you realize it or not. Much love Gems
Much love Coach! Best of luck to you and your team. If you have questions or If you ever need professional help with opponent analysis/strategy/fighter analysis in the future hit my line!

Gems The Best In The Business Hands Down.. Salute Learn A Lot Thanks

Hands down? Naw, Gems would never risk it with styling over using fundamentals like a varied high and mid guard with the occasional shoulder roll #GemsBeKnowin 😂
@@dguitar3831 Thats laughable but I’m intrigued. Link any video I supposedly copied that covers this topic. I’ll wait…
@@marcavonevans😂
@@dguitar3831So you make claims with no proof and tell everyone to take your word for it? Might as well have kept that original comment to yourself. Btw, why are you even here? Go back to your boy’s channel. Some of us actually know the truth.
That little hop pivot/step around is Loma's go-to trick... can't say it doesn't work!
Chocolatito before him in the pro’s. Canizales way before both.
@@BoxingGems Facts!
Thank you for the Canizales name drop! Slept on by way too many.@@BoxingGems
I've never even heard of Canizales.... I guess film study on him will be my homework assignment 📚

This is a Gem !!! Too bad people will just want to believe what they are told by their coaches. Thats why some kids come into the gym better than some in the gym because they study these kinds of channels. While most in the gym want to have an equal fight. I've been a fan of you for a while now, but it sucks to see this and no be able to say anything cause people get their feelings hurt.
🙏🏾 Knowledge is power. Thanks for attempting to spread the knowledge. With your help, hopefully this channel grows and enlightens. 💪🏾

Great video Gems…another great boxer that used advantageous positioning really well was Mike Tyson…seeing these other examples is really great…thank you…
Great video on inside fighting i think Roman Gonzalez is a master of this
That’s why he’s in there!
I'm Always learning love this Channel 💯💯
I just discovered this channel yesterday and I seen like 12 videos so far. I'm a fan already keep it up
Great points.Great examples.Great analysis.
Got to say ive seen different angles with multiple punches clearly landed that your videos didn't cover. In big fights .
Im double backing gems.
Keep up the good work.
Happy to see Chocolatito. I continuously learn from this channel.

Beat is nice and the science is cold. Yall need to get on the Patreon and pay attention more to the lighter weight classes
💪🏾 Coach!
Amazing. Was thinking about you today. Ever thought of doing an analysis of some of the great fights in history: Ali v Foreman, La Motta v Robinson, Hearns v Leonard, Holyfield v Tyson etc, showing the decisive strategies?
Idea noted
bam bam really has this on lock
Great breakdown Gems. Are we going to get a video on outside advantageous positioning ?
UA-cam notifications ain’t shit!

If there is one area that many fans don't understand, it's footwork and positioning. I mean look at the Spence/Bud fight. The Ryan/Tank fight. Some fights are won and lost on it. Thanks for more great content.
💎’s anutta great video and the best “Gem” of all was usin BamBam and putting him out there kuz he a beast but not as well know among casuals as he shud be imho… but again great work 💎’s with a multitude of examples to show the sweet science
Bam hasn’t fought like this in a while. I want the old Bam back lol
@@BoxingGems you right 💎’s he hasn’t 🤦🏿♂️ lol but do you think that has to do with level of competition or is that just a mental issue he has to work on?
@@EscaBear It’s the strategy they set before the fight.
@@BoxingGems makes sense
Shakur vs Edwin breakdown?
Soon enough
What defensive system are built for unequal positioning at mid range. I actually want to know this or you can make video about it
Gems, do you recommend any books to learn of the conceptos you shared in this vid? Cheers!
I’ve never read a book on boxing fam. Couldn’t say
How do I practice a drill that can help w my positioning?
@boxinggems You got much film study on switch stance work?
I’m not sure what you mean exactly.
Yo boxing gems you got a video on Crawford v canelo/Charlo🤔?
Not until it’s signed
Love this channel and video. I noticed that a lot of boxers that cut angles are southpaw.
Is there any recommendation on orthodox fighters that are technical like this that we can study film on
Just watch Loma, Usyk, and Bam when they fight southpaws.
@@DavidJ1988 wouldn’t that be southpaw vs southpaw then, so they wouldn’t be mirrored. I’m looking more for more orthodox fighters that are just as technical and dominant against southpaws.
Their is no difference. Their are open and closed stance examples in the video.
@@BoxingGems appreciate the response! Will rewatch the video and look at the fighters you’ve included!
I plan on teaching my son these gems and see how far he go 🥊🏆🏅
💪🏾
Drill, drill, drill. Create proper drills focused on technical form/technique. Incredibly important.
got you!@@BoxingGems
The greatest fighter to erase a bladed inside disadvantage was James Toney

Is this basically what they mean by angles ? If not can you drop a video named “angles” much love much respect
Yes but this is only inside angles.

@@BoxingGems I’ve seen the other one is. The basically for the most part what I need to know regarding angels ? Gratitude 💎
I’m southpaw so how would I translate this information to my stance ?
In other words, on the inside you wanna get outside of either of your opponents shoulders
In the sport of boxing, you're not allowed to hit in the back of the head. In a real fight there are no such rules, and you don't have to worry about only using your rear hand when shifting back. You can hook with your lead hand to the back of the head when shifting
or pivoting. You save a beat by doing that.
Yo 🥊 💎.. great work! What's the title of this track playing brother??
Thanks fam. You won’t find the track. It’s an original by my bro. SoundCloud in the vids description but I don’t think it’s in there as this was made a while ago. Not sure. His email is there so you can request. He called it “First light”
@@BoxingGems I was listening then I heard the horns 📯 fade in and out and the notes were 🔥... Just let him know that his work is real good and appreciated 👍🏾

Bam Bam is a true prodigy and a old school coaches dream
I don’t know how people are thinking Sunny beats the dude, Bam is too advanced at getting clean looks and Sunny just simply isn’t strong enough…
I don’t usually throw around the pillow fist moniker too much but….4 stoppages in 20 fights? Good luck Charlie.
Recently Bam has been much more of a come forward high guard pressure fighter who exchanges in 50/50’s. Don’t know why.
@@BoxingGems hopefully it was just him not taking his competition seriously enough. After what he did to Cuadras and Rat King, his two opponents have been big step downs
I fully expect him to bring his full set against Sunny. And constantly shift towards his weak side. Not doing so gives Sunny an unnecessary chance.
Bam is not disciplined. Look at him recently. He blows up in weight between fights. This has led to him going life and death in his last two bouts against fringe level opponents that he was supposed to dominate. Edwards in comparison looks slim and Svelte in their DAZN face off footage. Wouldn't surprise me if Bam misses weight for the fight. He looks chubby. And I'm not trying hate, just making an observation
Just watched this on all 3 of my accounts 😭, if people understood how important knowledge is they would be better boxers
💯
IS THE GUY SPEAKING THE OWNER OF THIS ACCOUNT THE ONE SPEAKING IN THE LIVE STREAM A FEW DAYS AGO EVERYTIME FEELS LIKE PAUSE CHANGE OF VOICE
Yes
I love you and your channel. But I think this explanation is flawed, your own footage doesn't support the conclusions you come to. I dont think the T position concept works here, but would love to find an avenue to discuss further and compare notes or see my misunderstanding. Much respect 🙏
Ok. It’s either patreon livestreams, UA-cam livestreams or in the comment section here.
I checked out your channel Coach. What I’m teaching isn’t very different from the advantageous positioning you teach in your first video. Perhaps the reference of the “ T” is where we have the miscommunication. Cool channel by the way. I subbed.
@@BoxingGems that's really kind, I'm a obsessed with systematized the sport like you. I've had all sorts of theories over the years that I eventually abandoned or improved upon. I love your channel, I love your mind. I use the T position concept a lot when talking about open match ups (orthodox v SP). I would love to podcast with you and just talk boxing.
@@bambaraboxing No doubt. Again, catch me on livestreams on here or patreon. Next live stream on youtube is likely Friday where we are making a "best skilled" list but definitely Saturday for the Canelo fight card. Patreon is almost everyday. Next live on patreon is likely tomorrow.
