I just viewed this video for the first time. After 3 years I'm only the 2nd person to comment about it. I can't help but wonder about all of the silly frivolous videos out there that receive hundreds of comments. Well, I recognize the valor and bravery of the men and women who have gone off to war and who have witnessed horror and who have been gravely wounded and who have died. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your service and sacrifice. God bless you all.
Amen, Sir. Clips like this should be MANDATORY viewing in all of our schools…. Perhaps our children would appreciate the freedoms they have---one of them: being able to watch “frivolous” videos on their gadgets and cell phones🪖🙏✌️
Bless all the men whom were there I cried a bit with this story. Now it's 2023 seeing this on UA-cam being a Army mom I feel for all the parents and sons and daughters. My husband just lost his Uncle whom was missing in action in Vietnam Vietnam Vietnam and just passed 2 years ago from Asian Orange. Sam Elliot is a true person who appreciates our military and I can't think of man enough for telling this story for a man. Who honored our country with this service.
and I, am a native born son to this land you now call, home. It is your home, now and will be for as long as you choose to be here with us. I am, an American soldier, a veteran much like the ones we see here, now. Though from a different time , what we gave and have given to you, and many more like you, is not a debt. It's a vision to a better world that you have now. Hopefully, it has become a better way of life , of love and of being part of something that is much, much larger than any of us. You served us, as an RN. I served on the other side of that as a combat medic during Vietnam. I went on to become an EMT, then a Paramedic and finally an RN much like yourself who, only had one purpose in life. To support the living and to help heal thsoe who needed it. You, have served all of us in a capacity few will ever know of or learn about , but you did and have and still are serving. I served with and worked along side of many immigrants who came from far away lands to live here. To give thier all and in some cases, to die for this nation. I do not take lightly the sacrifices you and millions more have made to be here. Live your life the way they would want you to live. War is hell, and you'll find many vets don't want to talk about it. My eldest brother was in 'Nam 65-67 as a medic and doesn't talk about it. I think they don't want to relive it, they want to forget it and live their life. I served, but in the 80's in peacetime (RA). I still get choked up when I see combat vets tell their stories - I was an aircraft mechanic and never would have seen combat given my MOS so I have utmost reverence for those on the front lines. Huah!
I'm 40 years old. 20 years ago, I was an Infantryman in Iraq. I was certain that I was going to die there. The only thing that brought me comfort was knowing that my friends wouldn't forget me. Now I'm years removed from the invasion and the two tours that followed. I'll never forget the friends who died instead of me or the men who found themselves in the same fight generations before.
I served in the US Army thank God I never was in a war I'm always grateful for all the men and women who served and made it possible for me to serve during peace time thank you for your service.

Although this was posted 3yrs ago, I just saw it and felt compelled to react. Someone commented that this video should be mandatory in schools and I couldn't agree more, it should be shown on TV on Veteran's Day too! Must it take another war for some people to appreciate and maybe learn, good, solid values, strength, patriotism and courage coming from real men and women defending us with their lives? Or would a society of sissies, bring down the greatest vessel on earth called America?
I've viewed it many times. I'm a 2 tour combat vet. The son of Vet. The grandson of a WWII Vet. My grandfather never talked about it. My father only talked about the good times. I only talk about the good times. It's hard for some if us to comment on this. I can say that it was an HONOR to continue the legacy of serving in the Big Red One 💯🪖🇺🇸
To the veterans of the GI general I am a GWOT veteran And to you in your family thank you for setting the bar as high as you did I hope my generation measures up
I was lucky enough to grow with WW1 & WW2, Korea and Viet Nam vets. Thank you gents. I was never old enough or aware enough at time to tell you, but I owe you my life and my childrens future. You paid the butchers bill and for that; a nation's undying gratitude. Rest well good commrades. Freedom is a heavy burden and you bore it with dignity, humility.fortitude and coursge.
These men are a special breed, they responded to our nation's call, some came home, others did not, they are all Heroes as far as I am concerned and I am a veteran of US Air Force!
❤🎉 this is what we are so responsible for the future generations! I personally was in the u.s. army my self, for 18 years. And loved everything about being a veteran!! Very soon we will only be able to know about the marines and soliders that was the greatest generation that ever was! God ❤ bless them for our freedom!!!❤
This video is a great reminder of what family and friends went through as well as those serving today. God Bless them all, the ones that made the greatest sacrifice and all that made it back, definitely changed forever.
God bless our service Men and women., And to the unnamed heroes who fought along side for freedom. My grandfather's was a code talker, and a medic in WW2.
Words have little to no solace for men such as Ray Lambert. Yet, words are all we have. Ray, Bill and all like them are of a caliber seldom seen in our day! These men and the ones left on the beaches, such as Corporal Lepuer, are heroes that words cannot describe in real truth! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! And because I have nothing else I can give at this time....... Thank you Ray!
I’ve been to the memorial plaque on Omaha beach of the 1st triage point. Incredible to behold, beautiful place and peaceful now. The French civilians in the area are the kindest hosts as well.
Coming up on Memorial Day. If I could I'd give all my comments from my UA-cam channel to this video. My parents were part of World War II. They met at an Army Hospital in Chickashea, Oklahoma Ft. Sill. My Dad had lost much of his hearing practicing as a recon photographer. My Mom was a speech therapist treating soldiers who had wounds where they lost their hearing, or ability to speak. My Uncle fought in Europe. I'm grateful to all of them. All of them. And, especially those that never came back. And, those permanently insured in so many ways. Why this had to ever happen is beyond my ability to understand. But, people like the soldiers in this video all over the world stood up to slay the horrible giant that was created. As bad as things are in this world now it would have been even far worse had these people not answered the Call to slay the torturers, Killers, and brainwashed mad men creating totalitarian regimes by a relatively few people in Japan, Germany, Italy and the Soviet Union until they flipped sides. Thanks once again.
Dad was in the 3/26th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division at Omaha Beach. He also was at North Africa, Sicily, Hurtgen Forest and the Battle of the Bulge where he was wounded and eventually sent to the Valley Forge Military Hospital.
Our Greatest Generation! My Dad hit the beaches of the Pacific and my uncle's were. In the European theater and. I retired from the U.S. Navy. I would do it again! It eas myhonor.
This is a powerful story of courage and sacrifice that should never be forgotten and always be regarded as a testament to what true valor and courage is. Evil suffered it's greatest blow due to the brave men of Operation Overlord.
God Bless You and Thank you for your service. Past, present and future.... My father served in Korean War. He passed March of this year at 92... Semper Fidelis Marine. We will never forget nor will we forget the sacrifices...❤❤❤❤
Mr. Lambert, and the rest of the Men, mostly Your Brother. Thank You for Serving our Country of the United States of America. Sam, you had stated, They were Hero's. I have to correct You Sir, THEY ARE HERO'S. From a Navy Veteran.
I never knew my grandfather stormed the beaches on D-Day until his funeral. Grandpa always told us he was trained and never left the states. His dd-214 told the full story, and the old black and white photo of him in Germany confirmed it. He was quite until he got angry, he showed his anger, not regular bright eye, non reflective ones. At his funeral when his military history was reveled, I now know why grandpa was always peaceful, he already fought the world, just wanted to live in peace.
I had the incredible privilege of meeting an Air Force Medal of Honor winner about 2013. I respected his character so much I could not look him in the eyes. He caught on immediately and told me to stand up straight and represent my uniform. They don't make them like that any more.
You're wrong about they don't exist anymore. Just deploy with an American combat unit. You'll see them. Just look at a mother that would give her life for her children or other children. Look around you at your neighbors. It's still true, two will give their lives for you: Jesus Christ and an American (soldier).
On today of all days, as we should on everyday, let us remember in our prayers the brave men and women who sacrificed everything so that we might have a chance of a better life. Let us never forget them. 🙏🏻🇺🇸🪦 🇺🇸🙏🏻
I’ve been in the army since 2003, and I’ll retire this summer. I’ve flown on the wings of eagles, ridden on the shoulders of giants, and served side by side with heroes. I would hate to see their legacies squandered. It’s all about what they fought for and the world they left behind. They gave all of their tomorrows for someone else’s today.
It makes my war not seem so bad. I grew up with veterans and I don't even have words for comparison. If that makes sense. Just. Father's and grandfather's had it harder
My Dad landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, 229th Army Combat Engineers, third wave. He refused to discuss what he saw on that dreadful day, but as I began reading more and more of what occurred, I understand why. Other members of his outfit were able to vent their emotions and I am thankful they did. It only gave me a glimpse of what they went through.
My grandfather never talked much about his service in WW2, until the last 6 weeks of his life!!! As proud as I am of him, I can’t imagine the horror he witnessed in the skies over the Pacific, watching the firebombing of Japan and seeing the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki.
“Heroes are not made. They are born out of circumstances and rise to the occasion when their spirit can no longer coexist with the hypocrisy of injustice to others.” ― Shannon L. Alder.
Those young men who hit those beaches are the real heroes, not some overpaid sports player! These men were part of the greatest generation who sacrificed their lives so we, we could have a better life! God Bless them and all our military people!!!
All I can say is WOW!! I am a Veteran of the Vietnam war and my thanks for making and this video. Let’s never forget about our heroes that gave such a priceless gift to you and me. 12:34
I was in the Army from 1996 to 2017 and logged 9 combat tours. THESE were the guys that I wanted to be like and the guys that I wanted to be proud of me. God bless each one of them🍻
I was an MP with a Bn attached to the 1st Inf Div during Desert Storm we were the troops that came out of the north into the back of the Iraq positions. It was a routing by the Armored units as well as the B52 strikes. When ever I come across videos like this I feel unworthy to even comment, what I had witnessed would have been one operation in WWII.
Powerful, powerful testimony to how courageous Americans made a difference when all the world seemed to be leaning toward authoritarian autocracy. We can't let this ever happen again. We can't be sure courage will always prevail. Heroes walk among us.
This is when the majority of American citizens loved America and we had a President who love America and protected its boarders. Their are many who still love America and are waiting to reclaim it back for the grips of the WOKEISM, ANTIFA, BLM, CRT, DEFUND THE POLICE and all the other liberalism... Thank you to all who served and paid the ultimate sacrifice to nake America a beacon of hope. May we never forget your sacrifice and may we go back to the days of patriotism and love of country.🇺🇸
What has happened to our Patriotic America? This was 2019...it's now 2023 and I cry for our Great Nation for what it become now. I hope with all my heart it changes back. Back to when being Patriotic ment something. Back to holding our heads high with pride. I pray to god "BACK" will come soon.
Thank you to all who served that came back home . Our prayers are with the families of the ones that didn't make it home the greatest sacrifice in the the world is to give your lives for Americans freedoms thank you from the bottom of my heart.
To say Thank You for your Service seems so little. I feel honor for these soldiers and all others medics etc. That supported them. Im glad that finally we the public are enlightened enough not to look down on those who still carry those battles and death inside them and helping them to deal with it instead of just telling them to suck it up. Not all wounds are visable!! So I honor all of you and respect the sacrifices you made that allow me the freedoms that you fought to preserve. The debt you sre owed is without limit!!
We are a nation with a government, not the other way around. Reagan To my fellow brothers and sisters in blood, and to those who gave all, I, my wife (who also served), and our family, salute you. Thank you for paying a price whose debt can never be fully repaid, though may we and out descendants do our best to forever be worthy of the price that these MEN paid for our freedom.
We can never repay any of them for the sacrifices they made so the we could live free. But we can ensure that they didn't die in vain, by doin anything and everything humanly possible, to make sure that America stays free and safe from the evil forces who seek to destroy her. God Bless America!! 🇺🇲👍👍

GodBlessYou.Thank you sincerely
This video is a great reminder of what family and friends went through as well as those serving today. God Bless them all, the ones that made the greatest sacrifice and all that made it back, definitely changed forever.
My Grandfatheres were there, and survived. Amen.
GodBlessYou.ThankYouForYourService
I have to correct You Sir,
THEY ARE HERO'S.
From a Navy Veteran.
This Break My Heart And Fill My Eyes Full Tears GOD BLESS EVERYONE’S OF THEM
I never knew my grandfather stormed the beaches on D-Day until his funeral.
You don't "win" the Medal of Honor.
It's not a prize.
@@armybeef68 if you have to be heard, have something meaningful to say, beyond the hole under your nose.
On today of all days, as we should on everyday, let us remember in our prayers the brave men and women who sacrificed everything so that we might have a chance of a better life. Let us never forget them.
🙏🏻🇺🇸🪦 🇺🇸🙏🏻
soon the greatest generation will all be gone living only in our memories. I will remember
I envy you, I wish I would have never left, it's been 20 years for me also, I'm going to wonder "what might have been" for the rest of my life.
This is by far the best video ever put out. I cant count how many times this video has saved me as a veteran
It makes my war not seem so bad. I grew up with veterans and I don't even have words for comparison. If that makes sense. Just. Father's and grandfather's had it harder
They are the heroes we should be taking care of.
I was on the Intrepid and saw Sam tell this story in a educational video. I cried ...still.
I am remembering the goldstar mothers and fathers today.
Very sad, beautiful story. Thank you for your service.
It's about the giants who's shoulder we now stand hero's one and all
My Dad landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, 229th Army Combat Engineers, third wave.

I can imagine the horrors of Pearl Harbor and Nanjing.
Nanjing, where they would throw a baby up in the air and catch it with their bayonet.
My father was there too, Omaha beach on D-Day. He lost his leg…. and he received the Purple Heart, which I never knew until he died 70 years later.
My family on both sides were all military and I married a army man. Thank you all for are freedom god bless never forgotten
Thank you for your service and God Bless your family too
“Oh god, whats mother going to think!” Is the most single greatest dark humor thing I’ve heard coming out of a members mouth.
Thank You Rob🎗️🇺🇸⚓️🦅⚡️🪶🦬🛐📖✝️🩸🤙🏼…For…Remembering Our Veterans 🎗️God Bless You…🎗️🩸🫡🇺🇸
I was in the Army from 1996 to 2017 and logged 9 combat tours. THESE were the guys that I wanted to be like and the guys that I wanted to be proud of me. God bless each one of them🍻
🇺🇸GOD Bless America and ALL our Service Men and Women. 🇺🇸
May everyone from every nation remember, and never repeat it. So much life lost.
Absolutely amazing. Thank you to everyone who has served
Those Are Great Speeches Men, & Thank You All For Your Services!!!
Wow, it's about time these REAL MEN WHERE HONORED! John P.
I just wish all the children would see this to know what it's about you have to fight for freedom to be free
Powerful, powerful testimony to how courageous Americans made a difference when all the world seemed to be leaning toward authoritarian autocracy. We can't let this ever happen again. We can't be sure courage will always prevail. Heroes walk among us.
I can hardly make this post… I can’t even be a quarter of the man these men were… I thank them and God bless them all
A salute you all. These people made America great.
This is moving beyond words.
12:34 Couldn't of said it any better. Oorah!!
Well said 🇺🇸💯❤️🇺🇸💯
God bless you
Wow I can't stop crying
When he said 39 the American didn't join after 41 god bless
The Greatest Generation, when America was really great.
True heroes that would not back down
What has happened to our Patriotic America? This was 2019...it's now 2023 and I cry for our Great Nation for what it become now. I hope with all my heart it changes back. Back to when being Patriotic ment something. Back to holding our heads high with pride. I pray to god "BACK" will come soon.
You talk well you talk straight say it the way it is honest you are a good man respect
God bless those that went before us to teach us how to fight for our people
For those that have fought for it, life has a flavor the protected will never know.
Thank you to all who served that came back home . Our prayers are with the families of the ones that didn't make it home the greatest sacrifice in the the world is to give your lives for Americans freedoms thank you from the bottom of my heart.
The greatest generation.
Today, here again, 2024 Memorial Day. God bless the USA!❤
If it weren’t for these Brave Men where would we be
We need to teach this in are schools thank you for making this
Long live our Veterans WE deserve a lot more then what we get at least let us have HONOR, RESPECT, ,,,, US*****
Just found my uncles grave omaha amongst 9871 heros
We are a nation with a government, not the other way around.
Reagan
To my fellow brothers and sisters in blood, and to those who gave all, I, my wife (who also served), and our family, salute you.
Thank you for paying a price whose debt can never be fully repaid, though may we and out descendants do our best to forever be worthy of the price that these MEN paid for our freedom.
Let's show the love for each other and never give up on each other or are would or I kids much love ❤️
Good god. Incredible
We need more of this
We can never repay any of them for the sacrifices they made so the we could live free. But we can ensure that they didn't die in vain, by doin anything and everything humanly possible, to make sure that America stays free and safe from the evil forces who seek to destroy her. God Bless America!! 🇺🇲👍👍
