- The Broward Property Appraiser's Office told us they were illegally squatting inside a stolen property. A property we profiled as part of an exclusive investigation into property theft last October.
Getting rid of squatters should be instantaneous. The laws are stacked against legal owners.
Florida has very poor laws. People with judgments against them in other states flock here, because the collection laws are so bad.
You clearly don't know what a title is... so you have never owned property.

@@briannagurl10888report it to the owner and whoever else will listen. There is a loophole in the Florida law to get your property back without going to court for the eviction. It happened in North Miami a couple months ago. The Haitian woman has done it 11( this was her 12th) times in North Miami. The last time she was given an eviction notice, she poured cement down all the drains, it cost the owner $100,000 to repair the home. Often the owners end up losing and or selling their home because the repairs are so expensive and extensive. See "Help Me Howard" how it's done for any of you out there that need help with this issue
Any law that enables criminals to steal homes should be abolished from the books. These laws should be taken before the supreme court to have all such laws abolished in the nation.

It was a criminal matter from the start. As soon as the title was square then eviction orders can be signed and executed.

The others can only be cited for trespass.. and that can ONLY happen after the title is squared away. Further it only becomes criminal trespass after they are lawfully told to leave... which again requires the title to be square.

Also should have to pay any and all legal fees for the actual owner, any damages to the property, and finally all the taxes during their time there. I’m tired of these stories. Shouldn't the guy be in jail if he lied about his legal residence is wearing and ankle monitor and obviously can no longer be on the premises. He should have been taken into jail and not just allowed to walk off. That's the reason why they keep commiting crimes. This is terrifying for homeowners.
To Avoid squatters, use 24/7 video monitoring service inside and outside a vacant home. Cut off utilities, board up the property. Inspect weekly for anyone who may try to enter the property. This is happening all over the country.
A couple very bad strategies here: If you can inspect weekly, then you can keep a dummy car in the driveway, lights on at random intervals, a TV going 24/7, and for gawds sake, don't board it up. While you're there, turn the car around each time. If you have a house that's extra, you can afford an extra car. Nothing attracts squatters more than a building that appears abandoned.
Florida is a stand your ground state. If someone comes into my home and into my room , I have to assume they mean to do us harm, so as a nice Christian man, I'll send him to see baby Jesus.

I've read alot of the comments below. FYI One of the reasons these laws are on the books, is to allow land to be taken without paying for it. Land was taken from the Natives this way, so if we go back through the records I'm quite sure the land your home sits on was probably stolen which would make you a squatter. These are the same people who believe if you pay someone's property taxes for 3 yrs it's your home if you move forward with the paperwork. So I agree let's get DeSantis to do a deep dive in property records and stop this. Let's return all properties to the original owners. California just returned a Manhattan Beach property that was stolen from a family back in 1924!!!
