My grandmother used to store large quantities of flour, sugar and corn meal with bay leaves and never had a problem with pests. I love the vacuum sealers, however the only issue I’ve had is like you the companies went out of business and you’re left with a sealer no bags fits from other suppliers. I’ve had two, and on the hunt for another right now. My neighbor uses the freezer bags with a straw. She gets as much air out as possible, zips the bag with an opening just large enough to fit the straw, and sucks the remaining air out lol
I’m gonna try the straw method. Because I really don’t want to get another vacuum sealer right now. But so far my grits, flour, meal, everything have been just fine. Thanks so much for for the straw tip. ❤️
@@elitav4238 Hey Elita! Thank so much for letting us know that! I’m gonna go ahead and get me a some buckets for my rice, flour, and probably my sugar too. ❤️
@@VedensBoutique I have another small bag like the one in the video. I’m gonna sift it, bag it up, and pop it in the freezer and give it a try. Thanks again!
I have used Home Depots food safe buckets with just the snap on lids (as well as the gamma) and both work just fine for me. I also have stored flour and rice with oxygen absorbers. Thanks for sharing.
I place my flour in a gallon bag as well. However, I also store my flour in my deep freezer. The majority of my dry goods, I vacuum seal and place them in my deep freezer.
Bought my Can Vacuum on Amazon for about $ 9. Works
Great!!
Hey Cynthia! Thanks so much! That’s my kinda price there! 😂 I’m trying to keep things on a budget. Thanks for watching! ❤️

@@tabathascott9176 Thinking the same! Feel like I’ve been burnt twice on the sealers, and do I want to try #3?

People also sifted flour when we were children to make sure it did not have anything in it but flour.
@@VedensBoutique Hey there! That’s a great tip! Thanks so much! And thanks for watching! ❤️
@@tabathascott9176 I also use bay leaves and freezing. Good tips.

@@cherlaneharris100 Hey there! Thank you so much for these great tips! Do you add a new absorber each time you open your buckets?
@tabathascott9176 Yes. Every time.🩷
@cherlaneharris100 Ok, thanks a bunch!
What does the bay leaves do?
It helps keep the bugs out.
@@tabathascott9176 okay, thank you

@monicab5522 you’re welcome!
@elwandaa1882 Really, you put it in the deep freezer? How long do you keep in there?
