  • Hey guys!
    When I first started trials last year, I dint know anything about the sport.. what bike to buy, what I needed and how accessible it was!
    Hopefully in this video I can clear up questions you have and give you a little insight into this amazing sport. If you have any questions I haven't answered in the video drop me a comment down there and I'll get back to you.
    Enjoy 🙌🏼

    First trial this weekend at Carsington 🤞at the age of 54. I went to Trials Days in Leek on a training day, certainly worth a look at. Great vlog and I will be on the white route.

      I am 52 and my health is poor. I would do anything to ride trials again. I last rode a Fantic 301 in the late 80's. I had a Fantic branded helmet and the old red and white Alpinestars! I did not get above beginner and regret it. I have started getting back into trials again as a spectator.

    Some very good advice here. Having had a break from 2010 -2023 I found it like putting on comfy slippers.
    But like you said don’t rush or be pushed past that zone you feel good. We are all learning whatever experience of age. Great video james😊👍

    great vlog James, I'm the same as you (started last year at 63yr old though). same here in Australia, everyone is so supportive. love it myself and looking forward to a cracking year. walking the sections prior is a huge help, especially if someone with experience can help, and practicing figure 8's and static balance. Our intro line is orange and you pick your own line as long as you enter and exit. white for me this year through the flags i think.

      @@James_Rides what made you get rid of the vertigo I think there lovely looking bikes

    • @James_Rides
      @James_Rides  3 місяці тому +2

      Stunning thing.. i just felt like it was too much for me. I struggled on and off the throttle, the difference between that and my Beta is huge 👍🏻

    • @darrenwhybrow9135
      @darrenwhybrow9135 3 місяці тому +1

      What cc was the vertigo, is it that much difference compared to the beta ?

    • @James_Rides
      @James_Rides  3 місяці тому +1

      @@darrenwhybrow9135 they’re both 250’s and yeah a lot different. The vertigo is fuel injected vs the old fashioned carb on the beta.. it just means the power delivery is different. I think it comes down to preference and experience.. a better rider than me would probably love the delivery of the vertigo’s! I just found the power all arrived at once and I lost control, the beta is more predictable. Hope that helps 🙌🏻

    Great intro James! 👍 I am in my mid sixties and just getting into trials with a 2011 250 Gas Gas I have been rebuilding over the winter. I’m taking it steadily and still in the practicing stage at the moment! I plan to start doing some local trials down South here over the next few months. I will definitely be doing white route for the time being. 😀 You are spot on with your comments! Great work!

      Much the same here, soon to become 63 and just wanting to get into (basic) trials, but I need a bike with some range and a seat, to do also some greenlaning and single tracks with it instead of using a more demanding enduro bike. Will possibly be a Beta or a Sherco, with a saddle+tank kit.

      Thanks mate! The honest answer is I’m really not sure.. but I’ve had a look and you’ve got South Shropshire Motorcycle Club relatively close, I bet they’ll be able to advise on local venues.
      And then the other side of you, loughborough way you have Earl Shilton Trials Club, I know for sure you can pay to be a member there and ride as much as you like.
      Hope that helps pal 🤜🏼🤛🏼

    2nd time round for me in trials. Bought an old sherco 300 crashed it a lot, whisky throttle everywhere and scared the shit out of me and sold it. 10 years later I’m having another go on a old gas gas, see if I get any better this time round 😂

    but the main question is what CC and why?

    • @James_Rides
      @James_Rides  24 дні тому +1

      200cc or 250cc.. While you’re developing that fine throttle control you’ll definitely find more grip on the smaller capacity machines. There’s still more power in both than you’ll ever need as a beginner/intermediate.
