As I taught classes in Media Acting I asked Mr. Garner if he might sign a photo to my class that I could display on my studio's "Hall of Fame." No sooner said than done. • @scotthamp384
      @scotthamp384 5 років тому +9

      Sunshine Baker well, good thing Jim treated Kim just as good as he treated Gigi. A person who treats their step child as good as their birth child is a rarity. One of my brothers-in-law treats his two step children just like his own daughter. He doesn't care that he didn't help my sister make them. They are as much his kids as the daughter he had with my sister
      And I heard that Jim lost his mother at the age of five, and his step mother beat him. Thank God he didn't turn into a step father like that

    This brought a great to my eye. Their love shone out of each photo. He looked so proud of her, so pleased she was his wife, even after all the years. And she looked at him adoringly. He was a handsome guy, and she was good looking too and could have given Hollywood a run for it’s money. She had great legs in those photos of them at the beach. He could have had anyone in Hollywood and he chose the one he fell in love with at first sight. What a wonderful story.

    Isn't it wonderful to find your soul mate that you love so much, that there is no one else to fill that special place in your heart. It appears that they made their marriage work and that they truly loved one another. I always thought James Garner was a class act from the beginning and if they were together for 56 years, that was a love made in heaven. I will miss his acting and many roles in films. May God Bless him in Heaven and he will be remembered by all of his fans as a great actor and a kind, decent man.

    How heartwarming to see that even in Holywood, it is possible for a couple to have a real loving marriage, not one that is only meant to last until the next actor or actress he or she falls in love with during filming.

    Thanks so much for posting their story. Extremely happy to know he lived his personal life in a manner I would wish for him. He never disappointed me in any. TV or movie, and sure enough in real life, he was true to the character I have loved since Maverick TV days. loving memories from a hugh movie fan. RIP dear James Garner.

    Great video. I have had a crush on James Garner since first saw him in Maverick TV show back in 1957 and I told him that in person when I met him back in 1978 while he was filming Rockford Files on Lankershim Blvd. In North Hollywood I was so thrilled to meet him. I have his autograph too and I am not even even an autograph person.... R.I.P. Mr. Garner You will be missed.

    So sad to hear of James Garner's passing. Have always loved him from the tv shows of the 70's and so much more. He really was the most handsome man and he had a lovely wife, who he obviously loved and she him, this was a gorgeous tribute to them both, thank you for showing it.

      It's possible, just very difficult. Too many people buy into so many lies about what's needed. Not to mention one of the worst lines I've ever heard regarding relationships was.. love is never having to say you're sorry. That is so wrong, sometimes you just have to say sorry that we have been fighting.

    How "coincidental" that, right after I had finished reading James Garner's autobiography, "The Garner Files," I should find this on my You Tube page!! In his marvelous book, he spoke so adoringly about his wife Lois, but rarely showed any of her photos. She's just a beautiful as he said she was. Thanks for sharing :)

    It's funny how this makes me so happy and sad at the same time - so happy that James Garner had a wonderful and long life filled with happiness, and that he and his lovely wife were able to stay in love and stay together for so long, and just a little sad that this is so hard for many couples, myself included. I only wish that I could have been so blessed to have had a genuinely loving marriage that lasted for so long! Thanks for this great collection of photos set to such a great classic Carpenter's song!

    I always loved watching Jim Garner in Maverick and Rockford Files back in the 70's. Great actor and good man. Loved the Carpenters and it was a shame when Karen Carpenter died in the early 80's. My how the world has changed and I wish to go back in time.
