It's a great invention that doesn't need a whole lot of wood to cook a meal on.
    Some people amaze me daily.

I have a tip for you , make a grate with very small holes and use wood pellets especially is the forest wood is wet

Just received mine, it's the newer design with no pegs and the dimensions have been perfected so it doesn't wobble around, it now sits perfectly solid when unpacked. The only annoying thing is peeling off all the blue shrink wrap from the metal.. I used a Trangia burner in mine and cooked some bacon and eggs with a small Tefal pan to see how quickly it'd cook, and damn, it's actually pretty quick. I can imagine it'd be even faster if I were burning wood...

I never thought of wrapping hot dogs in a tortilla, great idea for camping. I have lots of stoves some expensive and some cheap but I don't have a box. Now that I see it in action I want one, to round out my collection. Thanks for the great review.

Nice to see someone actually using the different grill heights..no other videos I've seen bother with it.. they don't all do that, some models have a set height grill on a hinge.. so that's worth looking at for anyone considering getting one of these. I'd personally prefer having the option.. like you said to use an alcohol burner as well perhaps. Good vid!

I have the same stove, got it used, but has never been used, covered with blue plastic . It did have an instruction sheet with it. Mine showed the grid resting on the shelves at the bottom and the solid piece in the slots below it. Then the pegs to adjust the height of an alcohol burner. With the grill in the bottom , mine was a little bit less wobble. I’ve used mine mainly to boil water, several times and haven’t had a problem with the top grill warping

For the $30 odd Australian that it costs, it's half the price of my winnerwell small firepit, comes with the accessories needed to cook unlike the winnerwell which cost and extra $60 for grill and charcoal grate so $120 in total, it's alot better for cooking I can already tell and comes with the accessories I paid the same for the actual pit. Definitely sold on it for it's price even if it only gets 3 uses.

The handles on the sides are supposed to go through the grill handles, to give the box more stability. There's some good videos showing a better way to load the twigs, giving you a much longer burn time, so you aren't constantly having to feed the danged thing. Great video...

Good review mate. I have an original Bushbox, a Bushbox LF, a Bushbox LF Titanium and I also have one of these "portable wood stoves from Ebay. I think they work admirably and are very similar when put up against the Bushbox, apart from the Bushbox LF Titanium which only is about 350g in it's pouch! Compared to the standard Bushbox LF which is around 500g in it's pouch and these cheap stoves weigh about 2.5 kilos. When I bought mine I knew it was going to be heavy, but I didn't think it would be that heavy?

Oh now that’s slightly different to mine Rick, mines got the grid built in to make it quite sturdy. It seemed to do the job still for you. I’d hope it wouldn’t be heavier than say the bush box xl 👍. Looked pretty cosy with it going while you were in the hammock, good stuff mate.

Thing is with these bush boxes we're all trying and using now, its a metal box with air holes and grill plates, yea sure go for a titanium bushbox xl, great kit, but we all cant afford 100 quid for a metal box, at the end of the day, as long as its a decent size, as I have founf the smaller ones a bit of a bugger to use, what you had there was a useful size, workman ship aside, 16 quid is ok, and tbh, I have founf the best use is to chop a log and put a mini swedish torch in it, much more efficient and no need to keep feeding it, so yea, nowt wrong with the budget versions of these really.
