A quote from Lauren : Your surroundings are a reflection of your relationship with yourself. I wrote Mindseye and Messiah's lyrics in the summer of 2020, in a moment when many felt lost, including myself. Without the world's tides providing me direction on what to focus on next, I created at a speed that left little time for reflection. I conducted over 90 interviews, played countless virtual concerts, and wrote a batch of songs. I remember feeling proud of these two tunes in particular, but I didn't know who or what they were about. I felt the emotion, but I couldn't envision their unlived stories, which was a first for me. There was a massive misalignment within myself, and my surroundings reflected that. My desires for depth, to be seen, and to find "my people" had crawled it’s way up my throat, screaming "hindsight of the mindseye!”. I idled in the lost, and played my temporary role as the conduit for those around me. Present day, witnessing the way the chips have fallen peacefully, I'd live through the pain and confusion all over again. I have also finally lived the stories I wrote three summers ago, gifting me that cathartic intensity when I perform them.
