Nevirapine alone will prevent vertical transmission up to 60 percent and safe during pregnancy with rare cases of liver toxicity, but in HAART therapy two or more anti retroviral drugs used to increase efficiency (measured by CD4 counts, number of viral copies in blood etc). HAART usually used when single dose of anti retroviral drugs are failed to control viral transmission or replication. HAART therapy may need to take daily basis to control opportunistic infections.
NB: Both therapies are focused to control transmission or limit replication in body, but does not remove the HIV from body completely
