O'Reilly giving flashbacks to his "lost the love for hockey" interview at the end of the 2017-18 season with the Sabres. That Sabres team was disappoitning but this Preds team is on pace for being even worse. YIKKKKKKES
i mean i will say in stammers defense that he had been with one organization for so long and when you are with one organization for as long as he did with tamps it takes time to adjust to a new one especially if the decision came at the ver last minute and wasn't initially supposed to happen. Marchy idk i think it could be cause of inconsistent linemates and ofc kinda like stammer his signing came so abruptly and something he wasn't really prepared for given how devoted he was to vegas
@@duncan4260 yah when they were teammates in tampa from 2014-2016 they rarely played on the same line. In 2014-2014 stammer was mostly playing on the first line with either killorn, namestnikov or filppula and marchessault was a black ace hardly seen with the squad and in 2015-2016 stamkos continued his first line spot while mostly playing with kucherov and killorn while marchessault who would be a regular by then was mostly on the third line.
I’m not just saying this but I had a feeling they’d struggle (not to this extent), they have an old aging team and people expected them to be a contender
I raised an eyebrow at all the hype, but I didn't think they'd be bad. Five years ago, the star signings would've been worth every bit of the hype, but the time's just plain old. XD Still, veterans don't lose their skill, just their athleticism. They'll get back in the hunt, I just don't know how long it'll take or how far they'll go.
A couple weeks ago (I think 1 game before Nashville got their first win of the season) I got into a little spat in a different comment section with a preds fan who said Nashville was a lock for the playoffs. As a fan of the then-undefeated Jets, I informed them that the actual playoff locks in the Central were obviously Winnipeg, Dallas, and Colorado, and that Nashville would be doing well to snag a wildcard spot in the absolute gauntlet that is the Central Division. After a little back and forth, they told me we'd revisit the topic in April, since we clearly weren't getting anywhere with talk. It is obviously not April yet, but 7 games later and the two teams they specifically called out as frauds (Winnipeg and Minni) are sitting happily as #1 and #3 in the league, and the preds have managed to make up 1 point over the bottom of the league. Things aren't exactly looking up there bud...
I don't like counting teams out this early in the season, especially after what the oilers did last year, but if they're gonna bring themselves back, it needs to be REAL soon because the top 3 teams in the central are playing great hockey and the avs are healthy now.
I’ve been saying since they signed March and stammer that they were overrated. I think something like 20% of stammers points were from the power play. They already overachieved last year, so I thought at best they would match last years outcome
I think they'll turn it around. They have a lot of talent and depth but the age is a factor (28.75 average age, 6th oldest team). Look how many over 30 year olds in the top lines: NyQuist (34), O'Reilly (33), Stamkos (34), Marchessault (33), Skjei (30), Josi (33). It's gonna take some time to build momentum
Nashville fan. I think it’s the result of taking 2 30+ year old players who have played in dynasty’s for the last few years and throwing them into a new system. Hopefully it starts coming together soon. But it’s also concerning due to their age and the teams they are coming from. Don’t think this has much to do with coaching.
This is definitely a coaching issue, there hasn't been a single two consecutive games where brunette hasn't touched a line. If he'd stop fucking with them and let them build chemistry instead of just trying to throw everything at the wall they'd likely be doing way better by now. Not to mention we have a puck watcher like schenn in our lineup over fabbro/del gaizo making whoever's on that pairing work twice as hard.
Book Bono from U2 to give the Preds a motivational speech to get them back on track. But then right before the Bono speech tell the team "We're canceling the Bono motivational speech. You guys blew it! You're playing terrible! No Bone for you!" I bet they win 10 games in a row.
Feel like they'll bounce back once the new players get familiar with each other. They didn't exactly look like a playoff team until the final 1/3 of the season when they had that insane streak of wins.
What i find crazy is How detroit has been run the past few years. I REALLY had faith in the Yzerplan, but here we are in 2024 and he only now finally figured out his problems were from IN the net. Lost a few fantastic defenseman because of this error and now he brings in tarasenko and slams him on a line to FEED other players and not be fed himself. so much he's apparently hurt and lord knows how that will turn out. You just don't pick up a guy like Tarasenko and expect him to play a role counter to everything he has ever been his career and it bloody well shows. Great pickup, Stevie. Tarasenko at 4 million and you don't let him play and use him to feed other players? He's far better than this and this has been literally Tarasenko's worst 10 games in the NHL EVER ( I literally went back and in 2020-2021 he had 10 games where he was HURT and still scored 4 points. And we still have not solved the goaltending situation! I said that between the two Jakes available last season, he should've gone with Jake Allen. He took Jake Campbell and he's been in a program since he signed. I think Steve Yzerman is literally winging it on his reputation now.
You know what’s really fun about all this? Everyone is like “OMG! Winnipeg is the best team in the league!” “Nashville is so disappointing!” Watch. Nashville gets to the West Final and Winnipeg crashes out in the first round. BOOK IT.
This season has only just started, yes the team is old but older team usually tends to do better than younger teams in the end. I’m not too worried about them
Sometimes, these big moves just don't work and maybe that's what we're seeing here. If Nashville wants to make a coaching change then they are starting to get to the point where they have to make that decision soon.
Frankly as a fan it seems like a growing pain. I love having Trottz as our GM and trust his process. But he either needs to make a move again or crack down who we have now. Just my thoughts but i hope for the best
Eh, I cant write them off yet. I watched the 2018-19 Blues go through some similar struggles after adding some big new pieces but after some time they figured it out. Granted I dont think Nashville will have a cup run like St. Louis, but I certainly see them improving their play during the second half of the season and getting into the playoffs.
They're probably more like Washington last year. Still ended up in the playoffs, and I don't think their stars are going to phone it in like Ovechkin did.
So if Nashville continues down the path they’re heading down we see them trying to move any big name players or are they stuck with these bad contracts for as many years as they signed them too. Also shocker everyone calling Tampa stupid for letting go of Stamkos and signing Guentzel look pretty silly right about now
Congrats to Kopitar for breaking the Kings all time Game Winning Goals record!

As a blues fan I'm now kind of glad he got traded when he did.
Who could've guessed signing 33 and 34 year old Marchessault and Stamkos to big contracts was a bad idea

It won't be. They'll still finish top 3 in the Central
Chemistry is also a huge thing. They lack it a having rarely played together
Stamkos the most overrated player of all time

O'Rielly - " I mean thank god it's Nashville though, at least no one care we suck" lol the master plan is working out great!
Predators have that 2018 Senators vibe

I think Nashville will make the playoffs like 7th or 8
It’s almost like trying to recreate the Suter Parise experiment was a bad idea
Bet on Nashville making the playoffs
This season has only just started, yes the team is old but older team usually tends to do better than younger teams in the end. I’m not too worried about them
On paper they have a strong roster, it's pretty surprising to me that they're struggling this much
The Leafs are Broken.

great pk tho
Both my team are 😢 😭 what is up pRed Wings 🛞🪽
after picking up stamkos and worchestershire I thought this team was the cup favourite.
Frankly as a fan it seems like a growing pain. I love having Trottz as our GM and trust his process. But he either needs to make a move again or crack down who we have now. Just my thoughts but i hope for the best

They are broken. Except when they play the Avs
Starting to regret predicting them finishing 3rd in the central...
Wow 16 save shutout but edmonton outshoots NJ 30-16 and LOSE 3-0 😂😂😂
I think I'm gonna make a rare bet for them to make the playoffs. Still actually believe they're better than most in their division
Even the Sharks look like a better team even though the standings don’t say so
And the bruins still got shutout by this team #firesweeney
Trade Josie and Saros to the Oilers
They're losing becuase their uniforms are butt ugly
So if Nashville continues down the path they’re heading down we see them trying to move any big name players or are they stuck with these bad contracts for as many years as they signed them too. They still are looking pretty stupid
@ how they sit second place in their division and Guentzel is look a hell of a lot better than Stamkos lol
Still time?
I watched this game, and nobody will return me this 2.5 hours of this awful horseshit
It's one game dude. Stillman has better arguments than this
They've been playing much better the last few weeks and they'll be fine.
