Scribes or soferim are still here.. go ask a Rabi Sofer.. to show you their work to make copy correct Torah scrolls that need repair before can be used in public..
The soferim are rock stars because the are the makers of the scrolled and they are men and proud and yes they are the original manuscrip writters.. without the Bibles today you have would not existmm for your bible is only equal to comentaries..copy of copies.and changing the meanings every 6 months
