      I was fortunate to be on the sidelines working for WOSU-TV, keeping the cables from tangling for the cameraman. From there, you really got an appreciation for how hard they hit each other. As Urban Meyer might say, it was a real slobberknocker.

    Barry Switzer had a great record against almost all top coaches of that era: Paterno, Shembechler, Hayes, Bowden, Royal, Akers, Osborne. The only coaches I don't remember him doing so well with are John Robinson at USC and Jimmy Johnson at Miami. Johnson had an advantage with a great defensive staff that came with him from Ok State so they knew how to defend the wishbone plus the great talent on D.

      @@JDAbelRN You mean like Jim Tyrer (homicide/suicide) Ray Griffin (spousal abuse) Neil Colzie (drug trafficking) just to name a few. Oh, and let's not forget the ultimate peice of shit- Jack Tatum, a pathetic weasel who cheap shotted another player, breaking his neck and leaving him paralyzed, then saying he didn't care that he hurt the guy, then offering to apologize for a million dollars. Karma reigned supreme later when Tatum lost both legs to diabetes and spent his remaining years in a wheelchair. There's a reason there's legions of Ohio State haters.

      @@bajikimran2304 So CTE (Tyrer, Griffin both had/have that from their football days) is now the fault of Woody? tOSU? Wow. I mean, seriously, wow. You pick out 4 'bad apple' players from his nearly 3 decades here... think other programs have similar numbers? IMHO the reasons the Bucks generate more negatives than normal from outside Ohio have more to do w/the program's consistent success and national legion of passionate fans than it does a fraction of players who've erred. Ironic you bring up Ray w/o mention of his older brother, who's been the epitome of cfb class for half a century. Rex Kern, who earned lots of success in the business world in addition to earning his masters/phD here. Chris Spielman, who along w/his late wife Stephanie spearheaded a notable ongoing fundraising machine for University Hospitals/James Cancer Center. It was well-known how much value Woody put on his players earning their degree.

    • @bajikimran2304
      @bajikimran2304 2 роки тому

      @@jamesmarkscott6202 CTE is not, nor was it ever associated with Tyrer's murder/suicide. In Tyrer's case he went bankrupt and his home was being foreclosed. He had squandered all his NFL earnings in bad investments and chose the cowards way out, nevermind he had four underage children that were left without parents. CTE did not make Ray Griffin get arrested for spousal abuse or passing bad checks. Neal Colzie got in with a bad crowd in Florida where he was trafficking heroin and cocaine. When he was arrested, to avoid life imprisonment he turned state's witness against the people he was working for and wound up in the federal witness protection program. I've already outlined the case against Tatum and I was nice, I didn't even mention Art Schlicter or some of the others. While Speilman is a class act, he never played for Hayes. Talented high school players do not go to Ohio State because they are in love with Columbus or the marching band or any other reason you might fantasize. They go there because they see it as a stepping stone to the NFL and millions of dollars. They could care less about OSU. Need proof? Look how many of them dropped out of this year's Rose Bowl to protect their draft status.

Both Sims and Lott went into the game already injured, and as I recall they were the only OU players who got injured in the game who did not return. "Needed a scorecard to keep track of okies knocked out of the game?!" ROFL! What kind of fantasy world do you live in, dude? Ohio State had as many players leave the game injured as OU did. I recall one Ohio State player got his shoulder crushed early in the game and never came back in. Ohio State was no more physical that OU was that day. I know -- I was there and saw the game. Rod Gerald, the Ohio State QB talked about how physical OU was after the game. Bye the way, before a hobbled Sims and Lott finally had to leave the game the score was 20-0 OU. "Okies" got lucky???
