Eucalyptus seed pods or rusty artifacts? Philips screws? Buttons? You decide

Summer. Eucalyptus trees (non-native to the US, originally from Australia). And underfoot, odd seed pods that look just like rusted odds and ends: screws, buttons, coins, or rusted ancient artifacts hauled up from (say) the depths of the Mediterranean (Antikythera mechanism anyone?). While many looked like Philips screws, some had three or five points, and the various patterns and designs made the ground look like the remains of a steampunk society. All I can say is, pretty cool.
