"What a film director really directs is the audience’s attention"
- Alexander Mackendrick
Soundtracks used in video:
- Audiomachine - I Will Find You
- Tracey Chattaway - Nightsky
THIS VIDEO IS PURELY FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES.
I do not own any of the movies or the soundtracks displayed in this video .
NO COPYRIGHT INTENDED.
If you comment before Reading the description, you will be ignored.
Many films were displayed in part 1, and many of films I couldn't cram into a 4 minute video, I hopefully plan to make a part 3 in the future. So don't comment something foolish like "You're missing "X Scene" in this video.
I did Wish to have more scenes from films by Kubrick, Kurosawa, Tarkovsky, Wells, Bergman etc... but couldn't seem to find decent quality downloads for many of their films Which is Why Ill make a short list of movies I intended to place but couldn't make the cut.
If you have any recommendations for movie, scenes, clips you are more then welcome to leave a comment, and Ill Add it to the list
With that being said there are clearly more qualified scenes out there in film but these are More of a favorite list ( Which wouldn't of have made a compelling title), While some are simply Iconic.
Some examples are films like.
- Ran (1985)
- Dreams (1990)
- 2001: A Space Odyssey
- Stalker (1979)
- Mirror (1975)
- Doctor Zhivago (1985)
- The Conformist (1970)
- Russian Ark (2002)
- The Searchers (1956)
- Seven Samurai (1954)
- In the Mood for Love (2000)
- The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928)
- Persona (1966)
- Sunset BLVD. (1950)

It's kind of amazing how most of the scenes are so simplistic.
True!!!
“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication “ Leonardo Da Vinci
I agree. But I'd say simple rather than simplistic.
@@Jlundeen I would say minimalist.
@@Zaz5y Sure maybe. I was just comparing simple and simplistic. People often use the fancier-sounding term simplistic, but it's the wrong meaning.
Edit: in your case I'd probably go the other way and use minimalistic. :)
Another great shot is in 1917: The "night window" scene with the flares shooting overhead.
Was about to say this. That scene with the score gives me chills
Schofield's run is also fantastic, it's a damn shame it didn't make it in
considering the movie looks like 1 shot anyway you could technically say the entire movie is a great shot
@@davidoconnell122 seriously. Thomas Newman is legendary.
@@kavetea True, true
"Most Beautiful Shots in Movie History"
Starts the video with a gunshot
Beautiful indeed.
I thought that the video was not about this kind of shot, but about gunshots
Pretty sure they just put that scene to tell us good evening and that they are tonight's entertainment.
start off with a bang
i literally got an ad about banning guns right before that (it was a really sad ad though, it mentioned school shootings and i cried)
It touched me. Even without any INTERSTELLAR scene.
Innerstellar is an amazing movie, had to do an essay on one and I chose Innerstellar because I heard it was good. I don’t regret it
Too much Nolan already.
@@dealerovski82 There can never be too much Nolan.
there are a couple in part 1
even the inverted final battle soldiers march and exploding scenes on tenet
What I take away from this is that a good fire in the background really helps.
And clouds.

it's 1958, and the shot is THAT good. how is the colour even so close to real life?
Excellent question. It was shot on 1950s Eastman 25T negative , but here it looks similar to Kodachrome reversal, which was at the time used for 16mm and 8mm film only. Well first off, Vertigo was shot on VistaVision (35mm 8-perf horizontal), then you are obviously looking at the 1990s restored version, which was done with utmost care. Not to forget that the cinematography and processing were top notch at the time. As far as I know, back in the 1950s color film stocks were very slow, making sure they were sharp and fine grain. The single strip color film stocks couldn't match the gorgeous colors of the earlier, very cumbersome and expensive Technicolor three strip process, but manufacturers tried hard at the time. Later on, much faster stocks were used and a more naturalistic lighting was possible. That's why most late 1960s through 1970s movies look very grainy with muddy brownish colors. The colors became better by the late 1970s and IMHO were the very best during the 1990s with Eastman EXR color negative. After that film stocks were optimized for digital scanning (Kodak Vision 1, 2 and 3). So there was some sort of a "sweet spot" during the late 1950s. All that according to my humble knowledge.
cause of camera
Hitchcock was a true master of his craft
That's because that location is that beautiful in real life. They didn't have to do much to get the shot
@@truefilm6991 Thank u for that!! It helped!! :D
Every other Movie : "Aesthetically Beautiful Scenes"
Call Me By Your Name : "Timotheé Chalamet *crying* "
Call Me By Your Name: *aesthetically beautiful crying*
Wdym that was the most aesthetically pleasing scene ever
the movie was so fucking boring it was a struggle for me to stay awake I wasted my money lmao
Anything with Chalamet as the focus is automatically a beautiful shot, that's like a law of filmmaking
@@ykitshardouthereforapimp9865 thats what u go for the movies, really? Feel the movie, not just sit there for entertainment.
Luke on Tattooine and Batman standing in the burning building will always be my favorites. Also joker in the riot dancing is great
exactly the same here
Luke on Tatooine with the music 😍
@@GreggyAck one of the most iconic shots of all time
@@GreggyAck I'm convinced it was one of the greatest shots ever. The amount of storytelling that came from that one single shot is insane.
Hey you look like me
The ending of Dunkirk when the plane lands on the beach with the sunset is baffling, along with the plane burning on the beach.
With Wiston Churchill’s speech as the background noise 👌
Such a overrated film
@@davide4052 why? I'm not attacking u or anything just curious cuz I liked the film so I'm curious about other people's opinions
@@raminahmed4476 because he never watched it
@@raminahmed4476 for me it felt like it was trying to cover up the failures of the Bri'ish during ww2 and exaggerating their contribution too
Im surprised no one mentioned blade runner 2049
The whole movie was a cinematic masterpiece
Yes... yes it was!
Cinematic masterpiece? When does it happened
@@PDBisht Thanks to Blade Runner 2049, to this day, cinema is still considered an art, and those who do not see it are because they are blind.
No no that was just Roger Deakins on an average Tuesday
Wrong.
For me: almost every shot from the Lord of the Rings trilogy
The collapse destruction of Barad-dur will forever be one of my favorite moments in cinema
Right
Me with every panned out shot in the LOTR trilogy: "Fuck that's incredible"
despite knowing it's probably a real place in New Zealand that I can actually visit some day
Agreed.
Extended Edition, of course.
That is honestly in my opinion…the best SHOT film of all time. Every frame is painting worthy. Peter Jackson and his cinematographer Sydney where on another level crafting those films.
WOW!!! Maaan, this is breathtaking. One of the best videos I’ve ever seen on youtube. It is so touching. I would love to see more videos like this
Appreciate it, Hopefully Part 3 soon.
@@Chofiko great!)
1:34 probably my favorite shot of all time. This movie creates a feeling I never had before watching a movie.
The kid dancing makes it more iconic fr
It captures the whole American myth, the film's title is true to its name
O Sleepless as the river under thee,
Vaulting the sea, the prairies’ dreaming sod
Unto us lowliest sometimes sweep, descend
And of the curveship lend a myth to God.
-Hart Crane
For me it’s Dances with wolves. Reminds me so much of old windows wallpapers and illustrations in old textbooks.
New York in one shot. Only The Statue of Liberty missing
The Shining is a movie full of intense and quiet shots
Sure is, Ill add it to the list.
Very true 🤩
True
Like any other Kubrick masterpiece
agreed
You have touched my soul...
The Solomon Society made a few like these as well
nah for real
Really appreciate being able to enjoy this without any commentary, just the shots and some well chosen music.
2013’s Gravity where Sandra is curled up spinning slowly inside her escape pod and falls into sleep while an oxygen line (i think) is attached to her bodysuit like an umbilical cord, with earth in the background was breathtaking. A scene that was imitating a fetus and showing earth as the incarnation of life.
Would the Fight Club final scene be included in this category ? "You met me at the strangest time of my life."
The movie itself was terrible though
@@notxvexorr4379 I’m glad we also got Interstellar then
@@notxvexorr4379 the cgi was one of the best tho
@@notxvexorr4379 Disagree. That's one of the best, if not the best movie that year.
I was gonna say “The Truman Show” deserves to be on here and lo and behold, there it is; right before the end
These are more like "The Most Iconic Shots in Movie History"
once Keanu Reeves said : "I LOve Movies.. I love Watching them and I love making them"
I hope being two for two...hopefully one day.
3:49 I wouldn't exactly say one of the most beautiful shots in movie history... but to each their own ig
yeah... iconic, but not beautiful
The inception shot was a masterpiece
Inception was a masterpiece
The entire limbo created by Dom and his wife is an absolute masterpiece of great landscapes and shots
1:31 personally my favorite shot of all time
Nolan/War/Hardy, the perfect combo. ✨
Me, an intelectual watching this on 240p
how did blade runner 2049 not make the list??
The timing of the films as they flow into each other is perfect. The music choice brings everything together with our own memories of the films. Beautiful
I personally think interstellar have some of the absolute best visuals to me
The Call Me By Your Name scene was so touching to me because the camera stays on him in that position for so long, and your just forced to sit there and just watch him grieve and feel the pain with him for what feels like forever
I couldn't work out why that scene was in this montage as I've not seen the film but now I know, thanks 🙂
Wow, this is beautiful.
Thank you
Only five non-British-American productions on this list? I think you need to elaborate on the term "movie history".
In Interstellar, right after landing on Miller's planet, when Brand and Doyle start searching for Miller's remains for data; the Aerial shot of the ranger in shallow water while ticks of clock are audible. That shot. It's breathtaking whenever I see it.
Lol I was wondering if Interstellar was on here and there this comment it
the secret life of walter mitty have a ton of beautiful shot that it's so ridiculously good
That movie's musics also so good mate.
That movie is so underrated
So basically...every shots in *2001: A Space Odyssey ?*
There was not a single Kubrick movie in it or am I blind?
Kubrick started out as a very good photographer so the cinematography in all his films is of a high standard.
I am so confused, that there's no single movie of Kubrick or Tarkovsky
@@rocketeer9065
That does seem a strange omission. Also no shots by Figureoa, Krasker, Alton or other great early cinematographers.
Go read the description
Notice how in 1:06 in the film "Se7en" all the bars in the electric towers form countless sevens.
Typical David Fincher ahahah
Star Wars the last Jedi... overall wasn't a huge fan but there were two scenes that left me breathless. The silent shot of the cruiser destroying the first order's fleet (even tho it didn't make sense for the story) and the shot of the ATAT's standing in front of luke at the end of the movie. Two truly stunning shots.
this is why I'm a film student , this was BEAUTIFUL
It's like each and every shot is trying to tell us a story behind it. A context with deep meaning. It's the most beautiful and inspiring thing for me. Thank you so much Directors for blessing my eyes.
Iconic... The most iconic shots. Not beautiful. Nothing against the video, great composition and selection.
Movies are works of art that you can stare at for hours and experience different emotions
How do u do that? Most ppl can't
@@apderahmanzenior4720 a good place to start is to focus more on the movie than your phone
@2:09 Awesome job throughout the video, synchronizing your editing with the changes in the song's chord progression =)
the secret life of Walter Mitty is just a collection of amazing shots, The little texts hidden in places such as a plane or in the name of a shop, the shots like him on a longboard and jumping into the plane while you hear Space Oddity from David Bowie it is just such an amazing movie.
One of the best videos i have seen for years, thank you!
This video moved me more than anything has in a while. Made me happy to be human which is rare, for at least we have created beautiful things like this.
Good evening ladies and gentlemen, we are tonight's entertainment
Last scene at 4:52 is the ending of "There Will Be Blood". Great movie btw!
3 movies that should 've been included. 1917, Interstellar, and Blade Runner 2049
I tought that there will be Blade Runner 😥
BR2049 and Interstellar are in the first part ua-cam.com/video/ih3VzUukYD0/v-deo.html
this video is also another example of how music can make even the most simple shot extraordinary
Michael Myers sitting up behind Laurie Strode is one of my favorite shots in movie history
1:27 what a scene man❤
4:07 bro be careful you could lag out the server
If the horizon is at the bottom it’s interesting
If the horizon is at the top it’s interesting
If the horizon is in the middle is boring as shit….
Now get the F**k out!
- A Wise Man
The opening shot of The Godfather gets me every time - one shot - long monologue, camera ever slowly pulls back until you see where Brando is sitting
The tracking shot when Gandalf wards off the Nazgul on his horse to save Faramir and his men, and the camera pans to the right to reveal Minas Tirith towering in the background. It’s just so gritty and the imperfect camera stabilization makes it feel so much more intense and real. Favorite shot in cinema.
Bro every single scene from 'her' is a masterpiece. Sad that it didnt win for best cinemetography.
3:06 one of the best movie ever
The most beautiful shots in movies I find are the ones where time stands still and all u see is everything stop and the character interacting with the world in one way or another
Secret Life of Walter Mitty was really pretty. It’s one of my favorites and no one seems to know about it
I just re-watched it. It's a masterpiece honestly.
I went to see it in the cinema at the start of my cinematography career and was completely blown away by the photography. Very good movie too!
Because it's a "secret life" after all xD
I find these iconic more so than Beautiful
yeah most of these were just iconic moments from popular movies, many were no where near good enough to be on a "Most Beautiful Shots in Movie History" list
i agree with that 50% because there definitely were some very beautiful shots in there not just iconic but yeah some were more "awesome" rather than what you would call beautiful but i guess in its way that is a type of beauty
That's a great distinction. I think you're right. Although some are also beautiful.
the secret life of walter mitty might not be the best movie out there, but it sure is one of the most beautifully shot movies
Great compilation! It was wonderful to see all of these iconic shots in one video 😊
Orange and blue in the majority. Interesting.
Honestly just seeing one clip from Gladiator makes me wanna cry i remember my dad wachted this movie like 100 times and every time he cried this movie just hits differently
I saw Gladiator in the cinema, late night with some friends. I just about kept it together during the film, hurriedly said goodbye and then walked to my car, still keeping it together. Got into my car, shut the door and just SOBBED. It's a stunning, moving film.
Great video, it just misses 1917
You do realise this video was Released before 1917 came out right?
1:57 the sacrifice shot is so beautiful
Someone should check up on OP, he hasn't posted in years.
man i feel my soul again
Those were some damn fine films
When miguel starts playing "remember me" for his grandmother in the movie Coco. One of the best scenes in animated movies. I love this movie ❤
My favorites in these two videos are:
Road To Perdition
The Dark Knight (Bank Robbery and Police Chase)
Lawrence of Arabia
Vertigo
The Truman Show
Honestly might be the best video I've seen on UA-cam. The way you edited the music and shots was perfect. It filled me with hope!
Appreciate it! Thank you.
I am confused: why there's no any of Stanley Kubrick's movies? Or Tarkovskiy? Every scene of The Shining, Barry Lindon or their another great movies deserve to be here
I love how Roger Deakins dominated
'Go ahead and finish your meal'
Jeez. Lot of work to get all these scenes downloaded and then edited into a video. Nice work.
We want the old Hollywood Back ❤️More than 90% of scenes here are from Beautiful Hollywood Cinema
despite loads of rubbish movies being produced nowadays 😭
Fed up of sequels
I noticed that sillhouettes are a favourite for these kinds of shots
Maybe because they're more relatable.
And an beautiful video. Well done
Half of it is Roger Deakins' work, it seems.
I could watch a Deakins film on paint drying, he is a master at work !
Deakins is a master and he's continually improved over the years.
Shame that this video got released just a month before 1917 came out, that entire movie is like 70% good shots
This video will be remembered for ages. Thanks for preserving history, for preserving beauty, for preserving art.
yup , I am seeing this amazing video after two years
1:30 favourite
Glad to see The Fall in there a couple times... that whole film is a visual treat...
Everyone is talking about the once upon a time in america one and honestly yeh its incredible
2:43 OOOOOH THE FALL! ❤️
Can you update this version? 🙂 including everything post 2019
Incredible!
Dont know if you ever going to see this but......... thank you :)
The Once upon a time shot for me is the most epic, its like a window into the past
Or Deborahs dance scene?
the scene in prisoners at 4:29 isn't the most beautiful in my opinion, it's the part when he drives the little girl to the hospital and drives wrecklessly with blood on his face. anyways nice comp :D
Not sure about the Psycho shower scene or the claw from Friday the 13th. I mean, a visually iconic shot, but beautiful?
Most of these shots are taken from a distance.
Bye Bye close CAM
This gives peace to my soul. This is amazing 🙏 loved it. I Love you whoever you are i love you 💗
Another good shot would be the opening scene of Star Trek 2009. This movie is just a cinematographic materpiece
3:54 i really love the composition of this shot
It’d be great if you didn’t wash out the color
The scene from HER(2013) at 2:01 is just legendary
"Interstaller" fifth dimension, "Let the bullet fly" the back image of the mayer, "Mr. six" riding bicycle to chase a camoe, "Game of Thrones" Jon Snow facing the calvary charge, "The Flag of our Fathers" holding up the flag both in Iwo Jima and in the stadium, "Tangshan Earthquake" misery scream and rain after the earthquake, "1917" piles of artilery shells, "Invisible Man" at dinner table, "Detroit Become Human" Marcus and his team jumping off skyscraper and parachute down after announcing android revolution, "The Wolf of Wallstreet" screaming I'm not fcking leaving, "Ghost in the Shell" agent taking off the coat and jumping off skyscraper.
Surprised you didn't include Casablanca's end scene when the plane flies off leaving Rick and Renault at the airport.
Oh, fuck I just realized that all movies scenes have the name of the movie on the down left of the screen. Thanks for that. By the way, you really did a great job. 👏✨
Nice compilation just wish there were more French and Italian films as they have some of the most beautiful cinematography
Beautifull, I would add some Citizen Kane's frames.
