Whoa! I collect Casio watches but have never even seen this field watch before. Solar charging too, what a beauty!
Why, Oh why would Casio discontinue such a wonderful watch. Im a huge Casio fanboy and this is the first I've ever seen this watch. I'd buy one right now if I could. Hop they bring this one back again.
Great video, you got another subscriber from me.
Thank you! I wish they kept it more in production, but it seems that nowadays the chrome plated case is not that common. You can still buy it, some small online shops still have it. It depends on what region you are at.
It sure is a good looking watch
With the sand colour nato, or sand colour leather it looks awesome.
I think so too!
If you don't mind hunting second hand JDM watch there are several models of similar looks:
- overland, overland titanium (ovw series)
- waveceptor (wva m600 and up)
These two offer solar, led light, radio controlled. Both have digital module but only the later have digital display. There is also "Timber Cruiser" (tic series) that looks slightly busier but I'm not sure if they had solar within its lineup.
Thank you for your suggestions! Soooo the Overland looks quite similar to this one, but built with better materials.
The Waveceptor looks nice too, not my style, but some people might find it attractive with the digital display.
The Timber cruiser is quite a surprise from what I see. Usually you wouldn’t expect Casio have that aesthetic.
Thank you! Cheers!
@@WristSaga A little bit more about the wva-m600 and 630 is that the display is dot matrix but japanese only, easier to setup once you get the days in kanji. It is slimmer so it wears larger on the wrist, the lug space is cut straight to the case, so if you replace the bracelet it fill the gap nicely, it's a strap monster. They came in black or grey dial, also with baton or numeric applied marker.
I believe it has the same module with Casio Lineage series. The difference obviously english text. And while m600 case is half-stainless, half-resin, resin-button, the lineage is full stainless and the lug space is rounded.
The ovw looks analogue but it is completely digital inside. It knows AM/PM (for alarm function), date, day of the week, month and year. Yes it has perpetual calendar from 2000 to 2099, but because it doesn't have display it's a nightmare to setup unless you blast emulated "radio signal" for it to receive manually.
You can get ovw direct from japan in decent condition, most of them said untested so be aware of that. Sometimes the 'basic steel' version came engraved with company name like ANA or japan post to commemorate its employees.
Timber cruiser is still a mystery for me since I haven't got one (not in good price anyway), but the eralier version is more like a dive-field-hybrid while the later version looks like aviation watch.
What I like about these jdm watches is that they're rich with detail, the marker are all applied not painted. Lume that make seiko blush, but they're old so while it's bright, doesn't last long. And the heft.. They're not heavy but it felt hefty for its size especially compared to modern casio general that often feels "empty" Do they even made jdm casio today? Anyway.. I've said too much :)
This looks dashing, I'll keep an eye on it
loved the green strap 😎👌🏻
The cheapest one I have. Found it for 1 euro in an Action store in The Netherlands
Wow looks amazing, will have to procure one
Interesting watch.
Lorus also make some nice field watches, and they look even more similar to the Hamilton Khaki. They look better than this Casio in my opinion.
They are not solar, though, so if you want that, this Casio is the way to go.
Sure Lorus has some great pieces. I also reviewed one of them on this channel. But do you have a particular one in mind?
@@WristSagait's actually the one you reviewed. It's the same price range as this Casio, better technically in every way, and, to me, better looking. Big fan of it.
Beautiful Casio, I'm afficionado,I'm a new subscriber to the channel great content..hope to see more videos like this... until next time..peace..
Thank you for your appreciation! This Casio looks even better in person🤩Peace!✌🏻
Nice looking watch especially for a Casio.
Good to see it's solar! Thanks for the review. What do you think of the Militado Ml05/ML08 as a Hamilton substitute?
Also I'm interested in what you are sewing..
What is the reference number for this timepiece?
I saw a lot of people talking about it and on paper looks promising with the specifications. I will definitely get one, experience it and review it in a future video. Thanks for the tip! I’ll keep you updated once I get one.
@@WristSaga Thanks! I got one after the watch geek's video. Lume is mediocre, everything else great. Somehow under +1 second a month, but people get lemons, too
@OverCowboy I was sewing a travel watch pouch. I will post it in the future on Instagram.
I can't find it for sale anywhere. Any suggestions? Thx
Any luck?
@@Uchoobdood No, this watch was made a few years back and probably discontinued. Not sure why this review was posted since you can’t get one.
@ForlornFreddy, yes it was discontinued even when I bought it. But you can still find it around second hand and to be honest in east european countries they still have it for sale. It took me a bit longer to review, I wish I had reviewed it earlier. But to answer your question, I wanted to show first what Casio can do, not necessarily to promote a new line. Cheers!
@@WristSaga Thanks, I figured that was the case. Great review, really would love one. It’s a sly homage to my Hamilton. I also appreciate the solar.
I would prefer to buy a quartz field watch around this price point as opposed to a Hamilton or Citizen priced at $500 and up. If you take it out in a recreational setting you can be a little rough with it and not be concerned about hefty replacement or repair costs.
Pity it was a short production run and is no longer available. It REALLY annoys me when manufacturers do this and Citizen,Casio,Seiko have absolutely no excuse for doing this.
You are absolutely right! Maybe this is how they keep people’s attention.
Wow what a nice watch
It really is!
Casio has a knack of putting together a quality and stylish watch at a reasonable price. That said, why a short run and discontinue?
Add a screw down crown for at least 100M WR & I'd be into it. 50M isn't enough for a go-to field watch.
How do I buy this ? I want one so bad!!!
Try looking for websites from east european countries like Romania or Bulgaria. Recently I saw them online in stock at some Casio dealers.
😂The design is nice, but I can't stand the messy alignment of the second hand and indexes.
Still for 50USD it a nice watch
I can't stand Messi too, brother
It looks very pretty except for that half 3, and colors are nice. I have been thinking on getting a MTPS120L, which I assume is the replacement for this. Solar, 100m WR, has day and date, but no white version, 3 is gone and they added minutes numbers and markers to the bezel, which I think it looks worst than this model
The model that you talk about is way above this model in terms of specs and alignment. If you find one, get it! Unfortunately that one is pretty rare too.
Cool watch. Only found one new with a white dial on Amazon Saudi Arabia - not as nice as this one. While I was there I saw there are Casio watches available in SA which I have never seen in Europe.
Glad to hear that you found one. A lot of them are in Romania and Bulgaria, not on Amazon, but in small online shops. Usually in these countries are many other watches that don’t sell in other parts of the world. I don’t know why, but it is what it is.
Casio + Solar Powered is a WINNER BUT only 50 M Water Resistance is a LOSER !!!!! Watch should have had atleast 100M WR
Facts, that's very important imo
Can’t find it anywhere, what is the problem ?
It was discontinued unfortunately, but there are some stores that sell it, but not the major ones. It also depends what region you are at.
Anyone a link to buy this watch??
Try finding it in small online shops, don’t look for big ones. Especially in eastern Europe side (like Romania or Bulgaria)I see that some shops still have it there.
@@WristSaga Thank you
ok, let's forget about Hamilton.
Which Casio watch is this ...????
MTP S101
As far as im concerned, regardless of the price point, design, looks or brand, if second hand in a quartz watch stops between second marks, it is shite and does not even worth looking at. This watch, with all due respect, falls into that category, full stop.
Usually all quartz watches have this issue. Only the high end quartz movements reach such performance.
❤❤❤
You’re kidding, right? This over a Hamilton?? No thnx bruh.
Not stainless steel unfortunately.
Yeah, that’s a but disappointing, but Casio is known for great plating. Usually they last about 2-3 years without any signs of corrosion. Mine keeps the same image as the day when I got it.
There are enough cheap watches out there
Lorus has some great field pieces too. Cheers!
Casio Khaki Alpinist
You said it best😏
Hard pass maybe if it was an automatic.
I wish it was automatic too, but Casio manufactures only quartz watches.
Yeah that’s the sad part. It’s a nice watch just not an automatic maybe we will get a reissue with your review.
The finishing looks very crude. I'd prefer all bead blasted or properly brushed or even satinized to that gross brushing and the polished bezel. Not for a field watch. Also the second hand doesn't even try to hit the markers. Bleh.
Unfortunately, the bead blasted works only for stainless steel, the chrome plates brass can’t support such treatment. The seconds hand usually doesn’t hit the markers on such movements, for 50 dolars, just tells great time.
Lost me showing the caseback..’made in china’…yeah not for me. looks nice though
All Casios are made in China.
casio is not accurate.
It is still a quartz, pretty accurate
You are sadly 2 months to late my friend
Field Watch, WR 50m!?! No thanks.
Some more expensive field watches have 50m water resistance as well. But of course, depending on what type of lifestyle you have, 50m might not be good enough.
Too large. If this was 37-38mm diameter I would buy it.
It wears smaller than you might think. Maybe on video it looks bigger than it actually is.
Please just stop it. Hamilton is light years away from this item of trash.
Sure it is, but Casio has history too and this is part of their development and what they can do. Hamilton has a different approach and a different history behind and of course, a different budget.
Junk.
