You are so smart. @@thinkIndependent2024
@@redneckreefer6992Glenn & John claim an Intellectual mantle yet the operate in a disgraceful realm of misdirection because it pays to not give TRUTH John once wrote a wonderful book on the origin of English Language, in the knowledge the roots of current American problems lives, Glenn could explain why Slavery was made a commodity and traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
@@thinkIndependent2024 I'm so convined now. Thank you for supporting your theory with meaningful evidence.
The more I hear Glenn speak, the more admiration I have for his courage, compassion and intellectual rigor.
If a Black person is willing to go on camera to criticize other Black people, they will fly you out and get you a 5-star then let you speak.
Glen Loury and Thomas Sowell are national treasures. Stanley Crouch is (was?) another one.
U beat me to the same reply!
Where's the courage? I only see a bow down to massa boot-lick when I listen to him.
This guy show courage? I missed it I guess.
Finally someone who is not afraid to get to the root of the issues with blacks today. Whites cannot solve these roots problems in the culture of black communities...they must solve these issues on their own. I have a lot of respect for Glenn Lowry. He is not afraid to speak the truth that will be labeled as racist simply by stating facts.
He is not stating any facts. He forgot where he came from because he was given a little more meat on the bone than the other black people. Even with the highest education we get the doors shut in our faces.
Nothing better than a Glenn Loury rant.
Yeah - but at 1:10 - 2:10 he vociferates the problem as illuminated by so many others who could not speak to it lest they be decried as racist. When we can get past that hurdle as a community then we might start making some progress. Nothing better than seeing things as they are as a first step to finding solutions ... unfortunately, the whole University System is geared to stepping around that problem by inventing an infinite number of alternative problem spaces!
Sometimes silence to an issue can mean complicity.
@@frankyyaggabot6222 All right, but I'm puzzled by your 2nd word ("but").
It seems out of place. Shouldn't you delete it or replace it with _and?_
Let me know if I'm wrong here. Solid remarks otherwise.👍
@@dixonpinfold2582 Possibly - 'but' the problem is well known simply by looking at the data and anecdotal evidence (which is echoed in the comments) 'but' the academic community elects not to look at it directly instead inventing any number of other issues which have generated over the years so much literature (and conferences, ...) and yet the problem persists. I share his exasperation but my exasperation is magnified no end by an academic community that profits off this problem (chiefly because it feeds into other grievance groups (Intersectionality)) and consequently they have no interest in solving it by addressing it directly. Indeed, some people who went down this path of inquiry found themselves 'cancelled' pretty quickly.
'And' is an appropriate word, but the 'but' is there because there is no continuity with the problem as identified and demonstrable desire (or ability) within the academic community to address a solution framed around the problem he vociferates.
@@frankyyaggabot6222 form should always follow function. many universities make more off form so they discount what matters most.
Glenn is one of the relatively few responsible adults in the national conversation. His conscience is stronger than his desire for approval. The fact that he's outnumbered, among his professor peers, by dogma-mumbling cowards, is about the most depressing thing we've learned in the past few decades.
As a black man I concur with his statements 100%! No excuses just have a work ethic and you will achieve! I'm a black man who was born on the southside of Chicago and ended up growing up in South Central Los Angeles and in a single parent home with just my mom no dad. But my mom was a school teacher and educator which enabled me and my two sisters to have the opportunity to go to college and succeed. She is instilled a work ethic at a early age which still holds to this day I am now 62 years old and still working living in a upscale area in San Antonio due to nothing but hard work an endurance and mainly Blessings by God! The white man didn't cause my situation but a black daddy who did not Embrace his children did! But we were able to overcome in spite of. Be blessed
And a belief that you can do it.
Glenn is a brave man. It is dangerous to say these things in our public discourse.
Why?!? Because he will be assassinated by white supremacist or by the race hustlers? Or is it because the racism hustlers and their white allies will target him with criticism and attempt to have him removed from his academia positions? Neither of which changes any of the data points Glenn speaks of.
No one is checking for Glenn, we know he's a boot-lick.
Glen has been effectively labeled as right wing by the liberal media. I think he's reaching a larger audience and it's about time.
Just as from the North Pole all points are South, from the Left Pole all points are Right.
ey man. I think every child and parent needs to hear this, not just black people.
Not a word wasted, not a single syllable out of place and completely improvised.
His passion is beautiful music to the mind.
So many words wasted. It's nothing new and no solutions given which gives way to the race realists he speaks to
@@Calleronline1-vf1eh What are your solutions then?
He is indeed the most eloquent pubic speaker of our times. Every single word has its place in crafting sentences that have both power and beauty. And he does this on the fly without a single uhm. It would never happen, but imagine what his power would have been on the political stage.
@@mudhutproductionsthat’s probably a Soviet bot. Don’t even waste your time

I bounced around in majors -- accounting (#4 program in the US), math (computer science), engineering (aerospace) before I realized that at four years of college I was at least two years away from graduation so I went back to accounting which would get me out the fastest. Despite 8% of the Student Body being Black, I only encountered three Black students in any of my classes that applied to my major of the time. NONE OF THEM WERE AMERICAN! They were all from the Caribbean -- Trinidad, Jamaica and the Bahamas! Nobody excluded Blacks, after all it was Public School in California so there was no way that would happen. Meanwhile, you couldn't turn around with running into a group of Asian students, all of whom dedicated high performers.
I got my masters through a REALLY cool grant that covered the cost of classes, food and housing as we stayed on campus for 3 Julys. There was one black guy. 2 weeks in, he’d left. He left because he was the only black person in the program. ALL the people in the program were cool with him. ALL classes were paid for and he still left.
@@jmachatch6696we are our own worst enemies .
@@jmachatch6696 That is not why he left. He left because the class was difficult and he would have had to work hard to succeed. Even if he did work hard he might still have failed. That was too much for him to bare. I see it all the time. If a person like this quits then in his mind he did not really fail.
@@jmachatch6696 I have suffered form "giveitupitis" for most of my life. The battle is in the mind.

Thank you, Dr. Lowry, for speaking so explicitly on a topic full of obfuscation and willful disregard. Your words carry the weight of truth, which is the only guide to actual improvement in our society. Bravo.
This is what we need. People like Glenn who can articulate exactly the problem. Not only does politics not solve the problem. Politics makes the problem worse.
Finally! Truth is seeing the light of day!
Kapow! A true American hero right here. Thank you for your strength and conviction
Brilliance and courage to say what no one else has the guts to say.
This great man is not afraid to tell it like it is, much respect
Glen Loury is a gift from God. I hope more and more black folks come to realize that truth!
I'm very sorry to admit that i have to buy every word he says.
Love& respect to an honourable gentleman
❤❤❤
Glenn Loury makes me smile. He's an upright gentleman in a world of scoundrels.
Years ago former UC Berkeley Regent Ward Connerly made this statement, which Glenn is articulating here: "We have used affirmative action to prop up a system of artificial diversity while ignoring the heavy lifting necessary to bring about real equality in this country." Connerly was derided then, but what he said was accurate.
He was accurate!!
The real tragedy is that because of the failure of affirmative action, many have concluded that no amount of heavy lifting would have achieved equity either. While professor Loury is a spectacular example of how this is wrong, unless the heavy lifting takes place across the board for a sustained period of time to yield results, this view will persist.
Not really. If there are no American kids interested in doing the hard work to ''get there'' and no one HONEST enough to teach them what it takes, it's NOT the ''systems'' fault.
@@TGP109 systems can fail us by doing too well and too much for a child or fail by doing too little. in either case it starts with the parents.thats why you teach the 3-4 year old to make his bed. the expectations of the parents are the beginning push.
bad parenting, cell phones, rap, drugs and entitlement
And the education system is so messed up the priority is pushing gender affirmation ideology on kids instead of the tools needed to survive in the future world. The education system is trying to take away the learning of morals from the parents. They are taking hope from these kid's future. They need an education system that TRULY cares for the children and teaches them math, science, history, music, geography and language. I feel so sad for the youngest generations, it is like they are being abandoned by the education system.
The welfare state has accomplished its intended result: the creation of a class of people who are dependent on government and who will never escape dependency.
Truth will set you free!!
Keep calling it out Glenn! Not a wasted word!
This man is a HERO!!! ❤
Great speech. Truthful. Founded in love, hope and despair.
Glenn is on fire here, but no one in power is listening, they don’t want to do the hard work.
Wow That one gave me chills! He is nothing short of an intellectual hero.
Sir, You’ve made this frustrated, retired educator cry.
I left the classroom when attendance ($$$) and Standardized Tests were more important than the hours actually taught.
Glenn, I am without words listening to you...such a strong voice pushing against the overwhelming, roiling tide of the dominant narrative.
It’s terrible to live in a world where by just simply acknowledging certain truths that you have observed and articulating those truths in public is considered bravery smh
This is a good and wise man. Listen to him.
Tell ‘em Glenn! Tell ‘em!!
Mr. Loury is an old school brother who is not afraid to say what many of us from the community know is true...
What Glenn is saying is the true fundamentals. If blacks or any other group is missing from a career field significantly important to society/civilization, adjusting quotas or lowering standards is not a ultimate solution. Nor does it mean in 2024 the institution is racist... It means the entire culture needs to shift to value contributions beyond sports/entertainment/business. Contributions that keep civilization strong and elevating to higher levels. As well as strengthening of the family structure, because that is where the knowledge and common sense begins.
Thank goodness for Glenn Loury. Thank you for your intelligence, your honesty and your bravery.
This man is speaking the truth. I have seen what he is saying in real life.
I volunteered at our local playgrounds for over 25 years starting with coaching my son & his friends & ending with my grandson & his. I coached all kinds of kids with some staying with our family for periods of time. Our home is where many gathered to play video games & basketball while waiting for my wife to feed them by a dozen.
It hurt my heart when I read about one of them dying in violence or being incarcerated. I stopped going to the funerals because I preferred to remember them as smiling happy boys after winning a championship. Things have to change in the home.
Wow, you won’t see this guy on MSNBC, no way
MSNBC: 'If you don't agree with us, you ain't black!'
Glenn Loury is the man!
Preach!! Reading your autobiography right now Glenn, and loving it. I'm sure it was no easy task revealing yourself in the way that you did.
Glenn your honesty and realistic outlook is 100% correct. God Bless you.
God bless you Glenn Loury! We NEED truth speakers in our world and you have the courage, intellect and the vision to speak the truth. God bless you.
I love this guy, where have you been all my life! I had lost all trust in the blk community that they could think honestly about their circumstances, now, here you come like a breath of fresh air.
Powerful statement, Glenn. Your ability to articulate the truth and courage to push back against the left's narratives are truly inspiring.
God Bless your honesty AND your passion for finding/implementing LIFE SAVING and Life improving solutions! Thank you for your willingness to share your intellectual brilliance and your humanity! I am always inspired by you!!
I feel for your pain and disappointment
I support and will pray for change
In 1965, a report -- "The Negro Family: The Case For National Action", which was written by Daniel Patrick Moynihan -- reported on the problem of black families. It's now almost 60 years later and we're still sitting on our asses. Meanwhile, the situation is so bad that Glenn Loury must summon his courage just to mention the problem in public.
And all people can talk about is what’s happening in Gaza.
Where is the black church, fraternities, NAACP, black caucus, Sharpton, Crump, Obama. None of the aforementioned will let you say anything against the single mother pregnancy and pillage in the black communities. Education is definitely the key. Athletics and entertainment has done nothing of substance for the collective so they should not be prioritized.
With a 70% out of wedlock birth rate in the black community. Nothing is going to change because the women who give birth to these kids are not listening.
They been sold out to the Democratic Party
Athletics (in school) are a very important institution for teaching effort, teamwork, dealing with failure well, and for kids without fathers to get good role models. But they are a MEANS, not an end. The end is responsible, well-educated, self-supporting, sexually responsible adulthood.
@@JOHN----DOEThat's basically what he said.. You said sports and entertainment shouldn't be prioritized.. and that's exactly right Not saying that sports isn't a foundation for some But they're not going to get black people into the classes that he was talking about it takes learning.. drive.. having someone make you study.. But if the government keeps letting women have as many kids as they want while they are on welfare themselves then it's never going to work for anybody to me it really doesn't matter at this point our country and society has collapsed and it's not going to get better it's only going to get worse I mean we are in bad times social security's already come out and said in 2033 it's going to cut Medicare Medicaid etc about 22%, that's a big cut when people on Medicare need that retirement money You look at that the war is going on around us water shortages biden has cut in to our oil reserves more than anyone else in 60 years and it's as low as it's ever been there's so much going on.. look at all the money we spent on Ukraine The US they have to be involved in a war somewhere somehow That thing between Russia and Ukraine it would have worked itself out.. enough of my rant I will leave you with this I'm reading the book of Romans right now in the Bible is talk about what Jesus returns and before that happens it clearly states that countries will rise up against his chosen people in Israel.. Do you think that's a coincidence..(This is voice typed so I'm sure there's a lot of mistakes I apologize in advance but this is the way I roll Take care) 🇺🇲🦅🌍⚓ USMC
Wow. He’s courageous, angry and insightful.
Parents, for one hour every day take away the phones, turn off the TV, and have your kids read and do math. Do this from age three to finishing high school. Prepare your kids for adulthood. Don’t just raise them.
Wow Bravery and intelligence in true service to improving lives.
When I went as an applied math and economics major in the 80s, Brown STEM classes curved all grades. If you were in the liberal arts classes, the whole class could get an A, whereas in a STEM class, the grades were curved so that the median was set to a C+/B-. There is a reason many students avoided STEM and took liberal arts classes.
Heroic in my view.
Sir, you are simply outstanding. Thank you.
I can only imagine how he is regarded at Brown - he's a brave man indeed.
Who cares? An independent man lives with integrity. He's not a politician running for a popularity contest.
I wanna yell AMEN every time he speaks..what an intellectual giant..
Yes Sir, you’re right, if you want people to respect you; you have to respect yourself first!
Great job Bro Glenn! I’m 69 declaring the same sentiment, the lack of leadership in the so-called Educated Class of Teachers, Preachers, Frats, Soros & Blk Organizations who continue to”Punt” and never take an offensive posture to solve the problems! Thanks & big smile! PS-Loved your interview with Dr Swain!

Absolute fact!! Well said, Glenn.
A voice crying in the wilderness. Hear him!
I remember this rant and it's one of my favorites by Glenn. "Let me just say it one more time!" 4:09 Love it!
Wish more people would speak up like you Dr!
It is evil to tell a young person in school that he can never make it. It is evil to tell a young man that the system over which he has no control will not allow him to prosper. It is evil to poison young minds with acquiescence to their own difficult circumstances.
On the other hand I remember a meeting once at a middle school I worked at. A speaker came to talk to the student body. He asked the 300 kids, mostly black and poor, how many planned to go to medical school? Nearly every hand shot up and the kids cheered. How many planned go to law school? Nearly every hand shot up. More cheering.
Understand, this was a school where most of the kids were reading at the 4th grade level.
My point is, it's not always evil to tell a young person they need to moderate their expectations.
Fuego, as per usual.
Finally someone is telling the truth
We need Glenn!
Our first five years particularly, create/determine our mold. Address that & the rest will take care of itself.
Thank you for this message.
Glenn's passion in this clip is fantastic.
I've watching Glenn for a while now, and his exasperation with the black community and their politics has grown...this was probably the most impassioned I've seen him on the subject...and he's not wrong.
God bless you, Glenn.
Glenn's rants always use the best adjectives. Dude is out of this world - protect him at all costs.

I love Glenn Loury.
God bless you Dr. Glenn. I sincerely appreciate your passion and purpose. I was a young teen when one of my favorite movies Stand and Deliver came out. Little did I know at the time how much Jaime Escalante and his students actually accomplished during his tenure. I would imagine if Jaime Escalante were still alive he would fully endorse your message. Keep up the fight my friend.
Jaime Escalante and Joe Clark (from Lean On Me). These men need to be role models for teachers and principals. They portraits need to be in every American schools. Stand And Deliver and Lean On Me, should be required showing in schools.
Facts, we as Blacks just don’t have/posse Critical Thinking
It had regressed amongst all Americans sadly. We need to be unified to improve things without racial divisions. Unfortunately, political polarization is in the way. We need to make critical thinking skills and values like families, education, literacy development, financial literacy, etc. bipartisan again.
Glenn, you are absolute gold!
In the U.S., every individual has limitless potential, that is not true in other countries. However, it is not achieved by fakery or pretending, it is achieved by hard work, sacrifice and risk in the present… every successful entrepreneur knows this. Truth matters. 2+2=4 ❤Thank you Glenn Loury.
How is Public Schools in Chicago better than Public Schools in Nigeria?
Please explain this? Then tell me if African American children from Urban schools have better opportunities than immigrants from 3rd world counties who at least are taught to farm and learn trades as youngsters.
You are probably scared to drive through a black neighborhood and are absolutely terrified of stopping for a bite to eat. So what makes you think a 12 year old is not frightened as well? That 12 year old will adapt to his war zone or become a victim. We have black Gazas all over America and White America thinks it's Black Peoples' problem to solve. Then in the next breathe that same white person will say we are all Americans why do you call yourself African American vs. just American? So white people should only take of whites. Jewish should only take care of Jewish and Asians only take care of Asians? That's your idea of America? The schizophrenia of being black in America is wild! Glenn himself, with all his past drug use and debauchery is case in point. Glenn's urban environment made him sick and twisted and placed him in Jail. If not for his Ivy League past and his white friends giving Affirmative Action justice, Glenn would have done 5 to 7 years in prison.
Make that make sense! Explain why Glenn behaved just like a poor black kid even as he was a 30 yrs old PhD graduate from MIT and a professor at Harvard.
America ruined black Americans. That is the answer. We are a sick and ruined people.
Example: Imagine being a black woman and wearing a wig or spending thousands yearly on perms and straightening ones hair because you are ashamed of your own hair. Worse so, you decide to braid your child's hair in an authentic style to your race, and the school kicks your kid out because they have violated white created rules concerning standards of beauty.
Hell yes. We are sick! Last, imagine having a black POTUS and watching about whites call his dark skinned wife a Gorilla for 8 straight years.
Please... We lost our minds in 1968 when Malcolm X and MLK were assassinated. Why even try after that was the mantra. Why even try.
Amen, brother.
Well Said, Sir.
Well said!
