Why does John find Trump so detestable? Because he has not done his homework. Like so many of our friends and family, he has suspended his critical faculty and believes all the half truths the media has dished out. Poorly done, John.

That’s the part I can’t understand. He must feel financially secure enough to be immune from the consequences of all Biden’s terrible policies. This isn’t sustainable. It’s impossible for me to understand how any serious person could be voting for POTUS based on his personality. You don’t know either of these people. You won’t spend time with them. You just need them to fly the plane. By any objective measure Trump did an exponentially better job than Biden or Obama. It’s so predictable. Obama’s first term you had collapse of Libya, Syria, Iraq. By his second, an Islamic caliphate chopping heads off and slaughtering people in Europe and war in Ukraine. Then Trump came in, defeated said Islamic caliphate, no war in Ukraine, didn’t start any wars, and then he brokered more MidEast peace deals than all previous presidents combined. Then Biden comes in, goes back to Obama policies and we have the collapse of Afghanistan, back to war in Ukraine, another war in Gaza, Iran firing missiles at Israel and a war in Lebanon imminent. Meanwhile; Russia nuclear subs are off the coast of Florida, and because of the open border we’ll almost certainly be hit worse than 9/11 between now and January 2025. So we’re at a crossroads where the options are to either fall into massive wars on two continents while jihadists are pouring into our country through the front door or don’t do any of that, secure the border, finalize the Israel/Saudi peace deal and another between Russia/Ukraine, and stop paying for $4 gas. I mean, if this is a tough call for anyone then they’re either blinded by their irrational hatred of Trump or completely insane.

The thumbnail is perfect on this one. The fact that McWhorter genuinely believes that Trump is some evil person is a testament to two things:
    1. The honed and shaped tactics of the Madison Ave greats would have them blushing with posthumous pride at how well their tactics worked on the intelligent and well educated McWhorter, who has access to all the same facts and truths as us normal folks lol but still reports Trump as some fiend that he knows personally to be able to tell us who Trump really is and why he hates him.
    2. McWhorter has been so taken by these tactics that even he would argue that he has seen all he needs to see to have made his decision about how he feels about Trump and nothing else would make a difference

The woke crap and the media just repeating these monstrous ideas without a shred of criticism flushed all my remaining trust in them down the toilet. It wasn't very high before either, because I had discovered that most clips of Trump they broadcast are manicured to make him and his supporters look bad, while covering for the Democrats when they do bad things.
For example, Joe Biden's "ain't black" comment was quickly swept under the rug, but we all know that if Trump had said anything similar, the media would play it on a loop from now until the end of time.
Funnily enough, Politico inadvertently debunked the racism narrative about Trump already in late 2016 by showing his significant support among Hispanic and Asian voters.

Please reacquaint yourself with the Constitution and pay close attention to the 1st and 6th Amendments. Also, the fact that you openly admit, let alone agree with this political prosecution being carried out speaks volumes about your inability to separate objective facts from your feelings.
Wrong is wrong regardless of who is at the receiving end and most especially, your feelings about them for that is what makes being principled so difficult and yet so rewarding and is the very lifeblood of what makes our country so unique. If we lose that (as it seems you’re perfectly fine with doing) then governmentally, we are no different than any of the 3rd world countries for which we wag our fingers at disapprovingly for their backward and corrupt banana republics.

The question shouldn't be " who is a good person?" but "who will be a more effective leader for the next 4 years?" Regarding the trial, since optics are so important in politics, it almost doesn't matter if the convictions were right or not. What matters is that they were politically motivated. Democracies are fragile, we desperately need the elections to be clearly free, fair, and have a cordial exchange of power when the time comes. At this point in time, we have had 2 elections in a row where the elections were claimed to have been rigged or stolen. We can't allow political use of the justice system or questionable elections to become a pattern. It's existential.

Glen is right about persuading voters, Biden is a weak candidate. I thought the stormy Daniels case was the weakest he was however found guilty by a jury of his peers which his lawyers picked half of them.
on the flip side a Trump appointed Judge has shown him favor time and time again in the strongest case against him so I hope Glen will acknowledge the seeming political motivation in Trumps favor in the Mar a Lago case.

Funny thing. Any aware person marvels at the rationalism of the ancient Greeks. We are not so impressed by the irrationalism and 'cause I say so' of the Hellenistic age of Alexander (the not-so-great).
Socrates was the wisest of Greeks for he knew his knowledge and understanding were not only grossly limited. But also imperfect. Which is not the logically necessary self-humbling of a Hellenistic like John McW. He as the man, is the measure of all things. A condition so enabled by viewing 'right and wrong' as malleable sensory inputs and therefore relative ethics. Which no surprise, entertains the base, primitive materialists who still bother with the nyZtimes. Foppisness demands to stay current with the fashion trends of the mostly failed academy.
Situational ethics is not enough to sustain our Constitutional Republic. Nor is it enough to sustain what is left of our failed academy. Therefore it is neither civic nor social serving.
Well, to remember proud-to-be simple Roman farmers easily kicked the crap out of the Hellenistic of the John McW fashion. They just wore out Pyrrhus. Who could not have raised a new mercenary army. Mercenaries do not fight and die for ideals. The simple Roman citizens would sacrifice themself to make sure that was all they could get.
I am not so sure our American military holds those qualities anymore. Due to the irrational and thoughtless tyranny of John McW eager reader.
I fear John is simply so revolted by Trump's Queens working class presentation, that he will say anything. As in his foppish-driven hubris, he believes America still commands strength we do not.
If John was a more serious and less self-absorbed academic? This conversation would be redone after reading VDH's new warning book. Then realize the 50k soldiers who refuse to serve under Biden are largely those religious rural boys. Always our best defenders. As they will sacrifice themselves to protect us from the Hellenistic. Like Pyrrhus and John McW.
So sad. Glenn intellectually understands the danger. While John assumed we are strong enough to indulge his fashion-based ethos. We are not.
Madison took a failed crack at Washinton's Farewell Address. As he attempted to base his thesis on virtue for virtue's sake as a matter of not transcendent logic. After the Constitutional Convention even Madison came to understand checks, balances, and defussions of power were insufficient to secure individual liberty. Yet, the foppish Hellenistic JOhn will dismantle even process. It happened before and we survived. When a mature man does not tempt fate like that. Not even the Hellenistic.
So Madison fully supported Hamilton's religion and morality necessity. Those pesky religious enthusiasts were in fact the necessary guardians of everyone's Liberty. Those proud to be simple virtuous American men. Content of character Americans. Biden began his disgrace of power, by abusing the best of us Americans in the military. Setting our reality of two hot wars and the progressive Chinese dictatorship bullying every country in Asia.
The Chinese are sophisticated. They may choose to act before Trump can restore this situation. As well as our real energy independence by drill baby drill.
Likely something Ping and his non-academic underlyings discuss every day. Should we go for it while we have the receipts on Biden?
Trump can stop the progressive Chinese with trade sanctions. Even just high tariffs. Further, a Queens New Yorker is just the sort of Jacksonian leader who will not back down.
We can not have the remains of Biden for another 4 years. Stalin's bayonette is already through and out of Biden's backside.

Both candidates (actually, every candidate pursuing the office) are monsters. Trump may have removed some low hanging regulatory fruit, but he still greatly increased the budget and deficit. The trade war he began back in 2018 has had global negative consequences. Many like to point to cv19 as the cause of the high price inflation we've seen over the last couple of years, but the ongoing breaking down of global trade is the primary factor. And Biden, who railed against all Trump did in office, has doubled down on most of those policies. Regardless of who wins in November, we're in for more of the same downward spiral that's killing the economy and pushing the world ever closer to the brink of global war.

You have to be selective with it. But of course, I’m sure you vote blue no matter who so you are clueless when it comes to economics.

@@davidwhite8220 Monetary inflation is certainly part of it to be sure. "Inflation" is a bit of a mixed bag. The Fed reserve deserves it's share of blame for where we're at. However, doing things to drive up the cost of doing business also causes prices to rise, which is what the break down in global trade has contributed a lot to over the last 6 years. I recall Trump claiming that putting high tariffs on Mexican goods would be paid by the Mexicans and would fund the wall on the border. Not at all how those things work (and Trump knows it, but lied about it anyway). Tariffs are paid by consumers of the country that imposes the tariff. Look at PPI over the last 10 years to get a picture of how much the price of doing business has gone up, thereby driving prices up.

You can be anti-woke (I definitely am) while also acknowledging that a thrice impeached, illiterate, un-patriotic, convicted felon and bully that is Trump has no place in higher office, or any sort of important job. If we're going to discuss policies, Biden has been exceptional on the economy, foreign policy, education, manufacturing, transportation and the environment. Not so great on immigration, I'll admit. But, was Trump? Where is that wall? Illegal immigration flourished under him as well. I wonder if we can we be adults again and inject some seriousness back into our politics? Glenn shows that he is a team player for the right. By dismissing the changes that occurred under Trump, for example, the abandonment of norms, so Republican officials ignore subpoenas - note that Dems do obey subpoenas and when they refuse there is legal precedent. We also had a clear dismissal of our alliances in favor of dictators. And we had a complete mishandling of COVID. So for Glenn to show care over Ttump's conviction but to be blase about Trump's overall behavrior is unworthy. My question to Glenn - please stop acting coy about Trump. Well, first of all there’s no way you can prove that he gave her the money because of the election. There were witnesses that said it had nothing to do with the election. Second, Bill Clinton sitting in the White House paid $850,000 to a woman for the exact same thing.
Second, even if you could prove he paid her the money because of the election, he’s not the one that would’ve listed it in his taxes. Very expensive tax lawyers would’ve done that. And just like any other American when someone professional does your taxes they’re the one responsible for any errors and mistakes.
Three, Hillary Clinton was in fact, convicted of FEC violations for Russia gate and the money they used they listed ass legal fees and she was fined $8000. She should absolutely be in jail. Because they did that to subvert democracy and attempt to coup by overthrowing an election and interfering with the administration of the Trump White House.
Four, even if you can prove all of that, it’s a misdemeanor and the statue of limitations has expired. They actually passed a law in New York to create a one year window to allow victims to accuse people which is how they manipulated it into a felony. So they literally changed state law so they could go after Trump. But one of the congressman, a black man, a democrat that was a sponsor of that bill is now wanting it reversed saying it’s unconstitutional. Why? Because some women have come forward and use this one year window to accuse him of rape. You just can’t make this shit up!
This is how corrupt and desperate the Democrats are to find Trump guilty of anything. Despite the fact he is the most investigated man in history. They have to make shit up and change laws to make him a criminal retroactively. If that’s not unconstitutional and election interference and committing a coup and a threat to democracy, I don’t know what it is! And the only reason a Democrats get away with it is because over 95% of the media are democrats and considered themselves activists and are blatantly lying to the American public every day.
