My brain wants to melt whenever i see their eyes and how much deeper yet similar they look to ours. The biggest question in my mind is what is their affinity for us and what connection do we actually have to them that gives them this affinity. Somewhere in their big brains is an even bigger piece to the puzzle of us im absolutely sure of it. Time can only tell and i can only hope someone figures it out. Its to amazing to go undiscovered .

It's the unknown that scares us. Those guys were so cool and fearless. He kept saying to the girl: 'Keep your balance!' and they harmonised with the situation. Brave people! Maybe they knew what they could be in for.

Exactly. Respect the whales space, and stop when you see one in the distance (in my country I believe its a 100m 'caution' zone)....if the whale approaches you that's their choice - don't take their choice of human contact (or not) away from them. They are naturally curious so may have approached anyway...but they deserve to make that choice.

je'suis Elle just because this scenario, as you put it, 'worked out' for them (the humans didn't get harmed)...doesn't mean that they didn't disrespect the whales space. Humans wouldn't like it when other people crash their way into their home environment, or personal space....why do some people feel they can do this to these beautiful creatures (especially when its history includes being hunted)?

@@tresjolieme81 yeah...that's more accurate...there are 4 species: 3 of them are called right whales and one is the bowheaded...
i'm italian and we call all of them as "balena franca" wich means right whale, it comes from the greek "eubalaena" wich means "the proper whale"(or the right whale, true whale)
so i thought bowheads was the common name for the right whales.
from wikipedia: Carl Linnaeus named this whale in the 10th edition of his Systema Naturae (1758).[9] Seemingly identical to its relatives in the North Atlantic, North Pacific, and Southern Oceans, they were all thought to be a single species, collectively known as the "right whale", and given the binomial name Balaena mysticetus.
Today, the bowhead whale occupies a monotypic genus, separate from the right whales, as proposed by the work of John Edward Gray in 1821.[10] For the next 180 years, the family Balaenidae was the subject of great taxonometric debate. Authorities have repeatedly recategorized the three populations of right whale plus the bowhead whale, as one, two, three or four species, either in a single genus or in two separate genera. Eventually, it was recognized that bowheads and right whales were different, but there was still no strong consensus as to whether they shared a single genus or two. As recently as 1998, Dale Rice, in his comprehensive and otherwise authoritative classification, Marine Mammals of the World: Systematics and Distribution, listed just two species: B. glacialis (the right whales) and B. mysticetus (the bowheads).[11]
Studies in the 2000s finally provided clear evidence that the three living right whale species comprise a phylogenetic lineage, distinct from the bowhead, and that the bowhead and the right whales are rightly classified into two separate genera.[12] The right whales were thus confirmed to be in a separate genus, Eubalaena.

You are SO RIGHT! God made all creatures and us to be together and not HURTING one another. Read Genesis in the Bible, all creatures ate plants and fruits and not each other. But when man sinned, it brought evil into the world. God was right to be disappointed and made EVERYTHING MORE DIFFICULT BY MAKING all creatures, including us, to have to do what we could to eat. That meant no more protection from the evil in the world, and everything had to find a way to eat. With the evil influence, all things were twisted into more aggressive than they were. SOMETIMES WE GET A LOOK AT HOW IT COULD, AND MAYBE, BE IN THE WORLD THAT GOD INTENDED, AND WE'RE SHOWN BY THE CREATURES HOW IT USED TO BE. MAYBE SOME WERE NOT TWISTED INTO THE WAY WE SEE NOW.

whales are gentle, bud. You should be more afraid of orcas and even them you shouldn't be afraid of. Its actually sharks that you should be absolutely piss my pants scared of simply because what if you're bleeding, even just a tiny bit. They'll either circle or attack. Sharks don't usually intend to attack humans either, though. Its just they mistake you for a fish or food or they smell blood, which sends them into a frenzy during which they'll attack anything moving too close to them. Its all really fascinating, in my opinion.

For your own good. You should not defame the most honorable name of Jesus even indirectly as you have decided ill-advisedly to do with the icon abuse you have for your pic. To foolishly and outrageously try and equate an extinct reptile with the savior of sinners is wrong on too many levels....if I were in your place....I would desist with the dishonoring of Jesus in any way whatsoever....it is NOT WORTH IT in the end. Do you care about your own salvation from sin and death? Do you want to continue to be under the slavery of evil lying devils keeping you in stupidity and fear and cowardice and making you sin even against your own mind??? !!! Do you care to be free from the evil of sin and deception that is the main characteristic of atheism??? If you even remotely did...you wouldn't ever do the kind of thing you did with the wrongful abusive pic that is what you have so wrongfully chosen to commit in doing....I have for my part warned you and if you do not repent of whatever it is about the truth of Jesus Christ you rebel against...as you ought to know by now....there is no hope of salvation for those kinds of decisions and people who make those kinds of decisions unless you realize the sin and repent. SO be wise and repent otherwise you have no one else to blame for your own wrong choice AND THEIR NECESSARY SPIRITUAL BAD CONSEQUENCES other than yourself because it was you who did it with everyone else who decided to not beleive in Jesus Christ ! For my part I have warned you for your own sake.....repent(change away from the decision to sin and think evil untrue false thoughts) or you are calling for troubles that often end not well in your life with little or no hope......I have taken my time to let you know this....as a fair and good warning....so that you could be saved from destruction and hopelessness that is sin and lies of demons.... Do not be deceived....foolishness does not go without due negative consequences owing to your own decision to remove yourself and keep yourself away from the "path of life that Jesus is the way towards truth and peace that leads to heaven away from sin."

" Oh no its coming row backwards.. Backwards!! We can't touch nature!!" Jeez. Just accept the video as what it is, nature coexisting with civilized life(humans) Sometimes animals like to check things out, too. If you noticed the whales came to them not the other way around. Things like this pisses me off, because you can't post something amazing without some asshole logging on to play over protective dickheads. This is absolutely amazing and invaluable. Yeah, wise guy, but watch the video again.... that's exactly what happened: They were seeing the whales at the distance, when they atracted their attention, he said "mirá, esa viene para acá" and she inmediatly stopped rowing, she wanted a photograph for FB, he said "later, I'm filming"... They noticed the first whale came directly to them "esa nos choca ¿eh?" . Then the animal met them gently "¡nos cargó la bashena! (because they are argentinians) ¡estamos sobre la bashena,!"... "¡keep the balance, keep the balance! "We have two of them"... They very were excited, but not afraid.

One of the most sensible comments, in this entire thread. Everybody likes to spout off about whales this and whales that, forgetting that each whale is an individual with its own personality and moods. They are also living creatures that can be sick or injured! What are all the stories about injured bears? Isn't there a moral in there somewhere? The odds are low, based on historical records, but are you willing to bet your life on it? Be calm, be non threatening, let them come to you, if you have to. Backing off slowly, when you can. Suppose the approaching whale just lost an election! They could be looking to take out their anger and frustration on anyone smaller than them!

You're wrong. These people behaved very stupidly. There have been videotaped incidents of right whales swatting at surfers with their tails when they get too close. These whales could have easily flipped over their kayak. People need to show more respect to these creatures.
