Jason, I think the biggest reason most lawn care business fail is the debt guys get into from the start. New trucks, equipment. Then need 150+ to cut a Half acre yard. I work with a retired master sergeant that had Buku's of business With the just 7 guys with 7 push mowers and a beat up truck. We would wear them Murray push Mowers out in a year. And he would work us year round with no layoffs. I enjoy your videos keep it up
I have to agree, I jumped into lawncare really late in September and surprisingly have been getting work, and one day I made as much money in 5 hours as what I made in an entire week working minimum wage! I did this to just test the water, but after seeing the potential I'm really excited for spring to come and start making some real big money. It feels really nice to go out and do all your marketing then receiving calls, busting out a lawn and getting cash in hand. I'm hoping I'll never have to go back to punching a time clock ever again. Your videos have been a great help for being a source of really valuable information
My brother and I (16 and 18) own a small lawn business. We currently have something like 5 customers with various lawns. We're planning on expanding more customers this Summer. We mostly work off of word of mouth. Do we need to get a lawn business license?
This is my first year in business and I have close to 120 customers. Can’t complain about next season I wanna hit over 200 customers. And keep going till I hit 1,000. Nothing is impossible.
Hey Jason, nice work on video and those are great reasons to get into your business. From experience you are correct on how expensive starting in the food business can be. Really nice meeting you at Video Labs and trusting you are well, best, Jim!
I'm 2 years in. Filled bk in 2012. No cc.. I need to make more money. I'm a native to phx born and raised. Any tips for marketing? I need help especially finding employees
As the population ages, the need will be greater. Tax writeoffs are great. Get your turf and ornamental license as soon as possible. Legal, insured, licensed equals more opportunity.
Im going to start my lawn business I've been doing it part time but I'm getting tired of working for someone else. Would it be smart to quit and just hit it hard on building customers? I do own my house, truck, trailer, I've already got stihl equipment i only lack a zero turn but i am looking into a walker
I guess it would depend on how big of a risk you are willing to take and do you have any money saved up in case you get off to a slow start. Eventually, you have to make the jump. I'm not informed enough about your situation to know whether now or later is the right time
At what point did you decide to go full time. I just don't want to live with the "what if". But like you say i don't want to turn back when i do but i also know i serve a big God
The fear of failure is the drive that will allow you to succeed without it you will never fill the ful potential of your business. Also with aging populations lawn care is a greater requirement.
Great info thanks

Other reasons: 1. You get paid to exercise. 2. You're outside enjoying God's beauty. 3. You're your own boss.
I agree with all three. Thank you
jkyles1000 Starting out as a helper has helped me lose some weight!!

Not trying to be hard on ya.....but I'm not sure I could be convinced that a coupon book business was a good idea
Whats demand like in the Winter?

You're very welcome! It was our pleasure. It was great meeting you, we were glad you could stop by and meet Pepper!
You should make a self help video DVD series make money that way too, share the right and wrong things to do in the industry.
So true bro, it is continuously growing. Great video!!
+J &I Lawn Care Services sure beats owning a video rental store. Actually there is still one of those open in my area.

Good to hear from you JIm. By the way, I thought you latest video was great. I told my mother-in-law about your business to inspire her.
I really like the recognition of the McDonald’s proven model but he’s right the average man can’t.
Awesome Jason🤓
ton of new construction & w the new generation of ppl now, lets just say they need help w EVERYTHING
so the bizness is wide open
+Dave Tires good point. I don't think the younger generation is quite as much of a do-it-yourself generation as perhaps older people
These are the reasons there are lawnmowers on trailers all over the place!

Great points. I agree with them all
Haven't thought about the aging population. Very true.

Do you still mow or are you lawn care apps only?
+Simple Steve just lawn apps now
i only had a handful of yards this year but i did pretty well for my first year i believe. and that makes me want to do even better next year
I think you need one million at least in the bank, and you don't make any money for two years. This is for McDonald's.
