- Hey everybody!
As said in the video, this trick can essentially work on ANY old pair of jeans that you have laying around! You once loved them, why not revamp the style and love them again!
*When attempting this, my advice would be to cut BELOW your guideline just to ensure that your skirt doesn't come out too short, all you really need is a pair of jeans and some basic sewing skills!
**Hand sewing the parts are optional of course, but if you're great with a sewing machine, it would make the process much quicker!

So as a guy, I took a pair of SUPER old shorts and followed this video. Made myself a denim skirt! I have been fascinated by how fashion has changed and wanted to experiment with a skirt so this is PERFECT! Thank you for such an easy tutorial :)
I just made a skirt for my friend and this worked PERFECT. It certainly helps to have a second set of eyes on length and make sure you can bend down in the jeans. Also, it helps to have a tiny bit of flexibility in the jeans... not necessary full jeggings but some stretch. Otherwise, having them be a tad large helps too. Anyway, worked great for me. Thanks.

If you make it too tight just cut a triangle at the seems on front and back side (go back and forth between cutting and trying it on to see where it fits) when it gets to how you want it, it’s going to be a bit short so what you’re going to do is hem the triangle edges and take some of the scraps from the legs you cut off and sew that underneath. It’ll be both bigger and have a new design. I don’t know if my instructions made sense but I hope it did so someone else can use my method if they mess up like me

Use any old jeans. Even an oversized shirt can be used to make a mini skirt.

I did this, but I made the skirt too tight and I split the seams trying it on LMAOO

You have to do this with jeans that are too big for you
A thick queen
Take the extra fabric from the bottom of the pant legs and add a triangle at the middle towards the bottom and it’ll give you a little more wiggle room

Great video! I tried it and it worked!...for the most part lol. My issue is that when i tried it on there was extra space in the middle of the butt area and it looks like a weird lump sticking out. Granted, I do have a small butt but i never had extra space with the jeans before i tried turning it into a skirt? any suggestions?

I read comments about the skirt being too tight after sewing; after cutting the hems and just resewing, rather than cutting out extra fabric, would that help give extra wiggle room?

I tried it and the seams split as soon as I tried it on. Any tips?
I would definitely watch out from sewing too close to the edge where the pants were freshly cut but I would be wary of sewing too far from the edge of the pants because this can result in taking the pants in too much, if that makes sense? Try not to sew too far from the opening of the cuts because it'll make the fit of the skirt smaller than what it was before! What also helped me from that, was going back over my stitches a second or even a third time to ensure it wouldn't tear if I sat or bent over! Hope this helps!
if when flipped inside out the bottom is uneven can it be cut to even it out ?
Of course! Before you sew, make any necessary cuts to straighten out the bottom to your liking! In the end, I didn't show the skirt after I washed it but the skirt frayed up nicely and definitely got rid of the uneven look for me! I posted a pic with the skirt on my IG if you want to look at its "final" frayed form. Hope this helps!

min swaeg looked kinda like a running stitch but I’d recommend a backstitch

Of course! The sewing part starts at 2:23, but basically I just started from the back and pulled the needle all the way through. After pulling it through, I just brought the needle back down and pulled it all the way through and repeated, not sure if it makes sense but the motion is "up down up down" etc until you've finished the whole side!

What if you dont know how to sew ?
audrey casazza sewing (especially hand sewing which is what she did) is super simple and takes maybe 10 minutes to learn. it’s all just tying a knot and going in and out. there’s plenty of tutorials and it’s a handy skill so i’d say just try to learn. sewing kits aren’t expensive either - a basic sewing kit from walmart can be $0.99-2.99-
