currently binge watching the cleaning and purge videos on UA-cam. Totally down to earth and real! love it! hope you've been able to steer clear of baskets! i don't have baskets but i do make piles of stuff to go thru later.... yeah right lol got to the point where I'm sick of all the stuff and your videos really speak to my soul
You don't give up! I just watched the video when you decluttered/purged your master bedroom. It was a huge job and you did it all to completion. You have never said in any of you videos, "I'll clean that corner later". Love that about you!! Such an inspiration
Lol I had to laugh over the basket on your desk. It's such a pretty shade of green. Honestly, I have been married for 27 years and in those years we have accumulated a lot of stuff. I've purged a lot. I still have a lot more purging that needs to be done. I get so stressed out over the paperwork that I make my husband take care of it. It all just overwhelms me. This is why you're such an inspiration. You've inspired a lot of people to clean, sort, throw away. Also, to do things we didn't realize we could do. Thank you.
Sophia you just make my day. I started watching organization videos years ago and I thought bins full of stuff isn't really organizing its still clutter. I don't have a basement so I can't hoard too much. Love your videos so are so truthful.
Sophia, you should really consider becoming a consultant to help others get organized. You are so good at talking us through the process. And really most of the battle of organizing and purging is dealing with emotionally letting go of stuff and learning good decision making skills. I just think you could easily make a business out of your talents and keep helping others in the process.
When you did your linen closet I took on mine, I had been stuffing junk in there for years and did not want to tackle it. I needed a spot for my stockpile. I was dreading it because I thought it would take hours, it only took about 20 min and now I have a space for my stockpile, that has got to be my " happy spot " in the house. I am so proud of it I might have to do a video of it. Thank you for always motivating me with your videos.
I have been packing a home that we have lived in for 37 years, we are moving and I can relate to this ha ha. I have been doing this for the last 4 weeks. We are close to the end. When I get to our new home, a lot is going in the basement and I am purging again. I am 69, do I need 4 sewing machines and tons of fabric and craft stuff etc. OH MY You are so inspirational. I found tons of photos. The same kind of stuff you have. You make me feel so much better ha ha Oh and pens and paint brushes too.....
I'm binge-watching your videos tonight. I love them. You're funny and inspiring! I've already gone through most of the stuff in my house and have got rid of so much. It's an addicting process. I keep looking for more things I don't need. I love watching other's decluttering journey! :D
This cracked me up, having just watched your last vid going through baskets. I think someone is taking their baskets of stuff and hiding them in your house.
Awesome Sophia! I had to come and watch you for inspiration. I just emptied a huge closet, that has not been organized since I moved into this house 6 years ago!! Now back to work.....
You. Are. Awesome. Inspirational. Proactive. Industrious. Thank you so much for being willing to open your home and show me that it is possible to make a change.
Loving this series-so inspiring. Something that is changing my cluttered world is a life rule I am aiming for & it really helps..."Don't put it down, put it away". Simple but effective & saves a fortune in baskets! :-)
Thank you, so much Sofía. because you inspire me to get off my duff! I have the same issues as you and this is really helpful to those of us who can't afford a professional organizer. Greetings from NYC!😄
Baskets are going out of my home . So far I found fourteen baskets and boxes to sort around the house. You are so right, their going away and the containers.. Thanks a lot for great advice.😁
Besides filing, I have found that mending is something that really only takes a few minutes after avoiding it for too long -- buttons, hem repairs, tiny rips. I always feel so stupid when I sit down to mend, it takes 10 minutes and then we can wear it again! You are the Basket Queen! ~jennyinseattle
Hi Sophia. Great job. As I'm watching this video I'm looking around me and i see at least 3 baskets that need to be sorted and i have a bag full of stuff that needs to go to charity. Why? I had to laugh when i saw the green basket sitting on your desk. Love the antique linen. Beautiful. thanks for the video xxx
Good video again - I found I had to initially start with the "like with like" baskets/bins and then re-purge each one until hopefully get to "just what we need and use" - but I must admit stationary/pens can be a problem!! When I started doing our family tree (which is a very addictive hobby!) the memorabilia helped a lot, but do need to get it into some semblance of order - definitely a job for the winter months! Lorna UK
Great video! We just moved a few states over and I did the Marie Kondo method as much as I could before we moved. It's funny how we want to get organized when half the time we just need to get rid of stuff
Hi Sophia! I found a great way to handle my greeting card pile up. My husband is a bibliophile. I took our christmas cards, etc. and used my blade cutter to cut the front of the card into 3 or 4 strips. or one or 2 depending on the artwork. then i wrote "the georgis xmas 13" on the back, punched a hole thru the top, got some thin ribbon to use as the tag piece. you can tie it, do it slip knots, whatever. so you keep the memory, new bookmarks for all the books and dont have to pay for nice bookmarks!
You are hilarious, I really relate to your troubles! I live out of one room and always have at least two piles of boxes of crap and a couple of big bags of crap too, stuffed in the corner. I've started getting rid of the boxes once they're empty, otherwise I will just find more crap to fill them with!
I have to laugh watching this video! I am so guilty of "the basket thing". I usually do it when company is coming. I sweep everything off the kitchen bar (a real hot spot) into a basket and shove it into a closet. A few weeks (or months) later when I go to look for something and can't find it--guess where I finally find it?! Yep, the basket in the closet! You would think after putting myself through this numerous times I would put things back where they belong to begin with. Guess I'm not a quick learner! LOL I'm glad you showed us how much time it took to actually do the filing--think how much time is wasted stashing stuff and then having to search for it later. You were so right when you said storing things in baskets is not the way to go.
Yeah !!!! You threw the pens away !! I'm so proud of you! Oh YES, that is a green basket on your desk, you put electronics in it to "sort at another time!!" Warning light going off!!! LOL !! ( It is so easy though for me to sit here ,on my duff, and see you working away . Shame on me for teasing you while you work. ) What am I going to do when you finish sorting, purging and organizing your whole house? I'll have to get up and move and start getting my own house in order!!! You really are an inspiration Sophia! Thank You
hi Sophia love your video...there my favorites...Can't wait to see more....maybe you should do a home tour to see all of the stuff you have done around your house...that would be good..
I love these videos, I was out shopping when I got a notification that you had put this video up and I thought I cant wait to get home and watch this ;-) Really enjoyed this Thankyou xx
+Debbie Trekell i did not even see it while I was filming, it sort of blended in with the old me "oh I'll throw that stuff in there, how practical is that!" then I am editing and I was like WHAT IS THAT? Lol!
Sophia i had to laugh when you found more pens because yesterday i organized my closet and found two bags of colored pens that's not including the ones i already have in my desk.Great job on throwing TEN PENS and CLEANING THREE SHELVES!! You are Awesome i can watch your videos all day if i had the time, but i do sneak a video or two when not busy.Sorry for the long message.Lol
Way to go, Sophia! You know, if one thing Marie Kondo said is true, is that organizers who use baskets are really hoarders. When I thought about it, it made sense, and now that you have done a video about the baskets I can see the proof is in the purging :)
I just watched this video today 3/16/2019 and what did do this morning? I went to our local thrift store and bought 2 baskets. 1 round, 1 rectangular. The blessing is that I got them both for $9.77 as they were half off this morning. Hate to admit it but Marie Kondo had it right. I figure after cleaning the round one, I would tightly fold throws and light Afghans. I would use the rectangular one for bible study and other papers to get out from under coffee table.
You crack me up! I was very proud of you when you threw the pens away in the kitchen...wtg. For whatever reason I had quite a stock pile of pens as well, I have been taking them to work to get rid of them . Sophia you have shared every nook and cranny of your home, I'm afraid you will not have anything left to organize!
"Why do we put stuff in baskets?" I have no idea either. If I start getting too worried about the amount of stuff I have, I just watch an episode of Hoarders and think "gee my house looks great". Right now I'm having doubts though going through 18 years worth of collections. I struggled letting go of a pair of twenty year old shoes yesterday, but they're gone! Great vid!
My first thought at the beginning of the video was "will she find sticky notes???" It's amazing the amount of stuff we buy. Looking back if you could cash in your pens and sticky notes that could be groceries for a week. I just kick myself sometimes. Keep up the fantastic job of decluttering!
Beautiful job Sophia. You are truly an inspiraion for those of us who need special help with the process of getting things in order. My day tomorrow is well planned out. My problem is getting things in drawers, most of them are empty and the stuff I have is piled up on the flat surfaces. I am considering investing in SHIMS so that I don't have any flat surfaces to clutter. The way I figure, things will just roll right off! Lol
+My Great Challenge I honestly don't know when I just had something pretty to look at on my dresser without any clutter . It makes sense and I will try that.. Thank you.
I've have watched to many videos on UA-cam about baskets for all storage needs looking all uniform and neat. After watching you Sophia I can see myself in you and your right I don't need them or want any more in my house it doesn't work for me. #Basket wars 😏
Sophia, I really enjoy watching all your videos! Please promise to not buy anymore pens or post it! Remember getting rid of stuff frees time and money. Looking forward to upcoming videos. My grandmothers name was Sofia and my favorite cousin is also named after her. Keep up the good work!!!
The worst four-letter word I know is, "Misc." I have found so many boxes labeled "Misc.." all with the same sort of stuff that you found in your baskets. You are so right - five minutes is all it takes to avoid these headaches, piles, and wasted space!
This green basket... I think this one will be a good one in 6 months !!!! thumbs up for the green basket on the desk !! I would like to see the purge of all the baskets too LOL ... Sophia you crack me up really .... when will you make a giveaway ?? (of pens of course) I suppose you have enough for 100 pens for each subscriber.. !! LOLkeep the great job Sophia love your channel.. :)))))
Hey Sophia you are now doing that flylady deal . Well I am not were you are yet . LOL so anyway I am in the de -clutter mod THANKS to you I have found my mow joe to do this again. Also look at the thin Sophia what were you up to back then ?
I have a quick question, For the check for the teachers thing and you said it was supposed to be done 2 years ago. Were you able to still get paid? I know most things expire 6 months to a year lol. That would be a dagger to the heart if you missed out on it. :( Job well done lady. I enjoy all of your declutter video's, I subbed I believe last fall and still trying to catch up haha.
I read one time that Coco Chanel had a very tiny apartment and the way she kept it neat was that every time she would bring an item into her home she would take an item out. That way it never accumulated. I always thought that was a great idea.... ; )
+Renie Handler that's the problem with ebay, you have to stay on top of the shipping, I always include the shipping and handling cost a bit over what it should be because in reality it costs more money than you think to wrap the stuff, whether in actual goods or time spent. and it s a constant back and forth to the post office.
No clean shoes in Sophia's house for the last 6 months, lol! You are making an amazing difference to your home - you will feel so much better once it's all done, but make sure the clutter monster doesn't creep back in. If you don't have one, then you need a filing tray for papers on your desk - it's just not practical to file everything immediately - plus allocated time for office work. I challenge you to spend 10 mins per week doing an instant de-clutter - I think that's about 1 min per room. Just grab one item from each room that is defunct. That's 520 items per annum pooff .. GONE! That will stop the clutter monster in his tracks. I also challenge you not to buy anything else until you have run out of that item - with pens that should be around 2025!! It looks like you have absolutely everything that you could possibly need of every description for probably around at least a year. Best Wishes.

you are so pretty and inspirational!
You go girl!
Definitely get you eBay stuff going, I sold £500 ($750) worth of purged stuff thus month!
+Renie Handler that's the problem with ebay, you have to stay on top of the shipping, I always include the shipping and handling cost a bit over what it should be because in reality it costs more money than you think to wrap the stuff, whether in actual goods or time spent. and it s a constant back and forth to the post office.
My Great Challenge oh yeah, you have factor in shipping and fees. Otherwise you loose out! My £500 was after shipping and fees!
Where are you from?
+Finola Nye France
+My Great Challenge omg awesome
You're no longer a basket case!
Sofia, I think you have had an epiphany, hopefully this will help free you of all your other extemporanious stuff.
+Kristina Servin i don t know, i just want o clean and not have to move things from one side of the room to the other in order to do that.
You are so stinkin' cute ;)
