    **HELPFUL TUTORIAL TIPS**
    ~FOAM CORE BOARD STAND: We use 1/2" foam core board to create our toppers on. Foam core board can be purchased at most craft stores. We cut these into small squares. We add parchment paper on top so the topper doesn't stick to the board. It's easy to push the lolly stick through the board. This keeps your topper straight and allows it to dry in the correct position.
    ~PIPING TIPS USED IN THIS TUTORIAL:
    Tip #12 for the white part of the eyes
    Tip #9 for the brown part of the eyes
    Tip #6 for the black part of the eyes
    Tip #6 to cut the corners of the mini badges
    ~ADDING COLOR TO YOUR TOPPER: Towards the end of the video you see us dust color to our topper. The chalks are our absolute FAVORITE non-toxic chalks by Mungyo ( amzn.to/2v68D14 ) Please note that these are NOT EDIBLE, they are simply NON-TOXIC and should ONLY be used on toppers and decorations that will NOT be eaten. We pulverize the chalk by scraping it with a blade (as you've seen in many of our tutorials). For the white dots in the eyes and freckles on face, you can use any white and black gel food coloring of your choice.

    Hello Laura & Arnie! Love your work and all your valuable advice. Can you do a video showing how you guys organize your baking/cake decorating supplies? I am a home-baker and despite my best efforts to organize my supplies my cake decorating room is always a mess. Thanks again.

    • @krazykoolcakes
      @krazykoolcakes  7 років тому

      Hi Gloria! Thank you so much! That's very kind of you. :) We really don't have things super organized to be honest. LOL. We just keep all of our cake pans in one area, all of our decorating supplies on a shelf system my Dad made for us, and all of our other baking supplies in cabinets in the kitchen. I wish I could say we were SUPER organized and had some sort of "system" going, but we don't. Our stuff isn't a mess. It just helps to always put stuff back in the same place and know where it is. :)

    Just a question isnt the tail of a dog generally smaller at its tip? I noticed your tail is the other way round?

    • @krazykoolcakes
      @krazykoolcakes  6 років тому

      Hi Irene! I guess it would depend on the breed of dog. I'm not 100% certain of what breed of dog Chase is but that's how his tail is. Thanks for watching! :)

    • @krazykoolcakes
      @krazykoolcakes  6 років тому +1

      Thank you Annette! I colored the gumpaste with AmeriColor's "navy blue" gel food coloring. You can also just use regular "royal blue" and add a dot of black or however much you'd like to get it dark. Hope that helps! :)

    What fondant may are you guys using in this video? Is it also self-healing?

    • @Deme509

      This is so incredible! And I LOVE the cake business series you guys have done. The videos have changed my whole approach.

    • @krazykoolcakes
      @krazykoolcakes  7 років тому

      Hi Demetria! We use gumpaste which is made by mixing Wilton fondant with tylose powder. We have a tutorial in our UA-cam channel that shows how we make it if you'd like to check it out. When working with gumpaste there are seams between pieces.

    • @Deme509
      @Deme509 7 років тому

      I'm sorry, I meant the fondant mat (it autocorrected it to "may"🙄😂)! It doesn't look like you're using any powdered sugar or anything & the mat is non-stick and non-drying.

    • @krazykoolcakes
      @krazykoolcakes  7 років тому +1

      LOL. We use a silicon mat, also known as a silpat. You can find these online. :)

    • @krazykoolcakes
      @krazykoolcakes  6 років тому

      Hi Mickey! Thank you so much for your kind words! The tiny little hand-held blade is by Martha Stewart. I bought it years ago at Michaels but now I can't find it ANYWHERE. I've searched and searched but I have a feeling they discontinued it which is why there is no link for it under the video. I hate it when they do that to our favorite stuff! LOL. :)

  • @irenemason3830
    @irenemason3830 6 років тому

    Love him great job. Only thing is dont know why you dont make the body straight away in navy blue as you dont see the yellow underneath anyway

    • @krazykoolcakes
      @krazykoolcakes  6 років тому

      Glad you liked him Irene! It's difficult for you to see the brown part of his body during the tutorial because you mostly have a top camera view, but if you watch the video to the end and you have a good view of what the topper looks like to anyone seeing it mostly from the front and sides, you do see his torso and tummy all around. Hope that helps and thanks for watching! :)
