- I will start upgrading the e12 handling on this episode. The car has come out of factory without power steering and it has been quite stiff to drive. This time I will upgrade to e28 power steering.

Juu ei oo ollu. Eikä e28:ssakaan. Vasta e34:ssä on saanu. Eikä oo kyllä yhtään v8 swappi e12:sta tullu vastaan netissä että liekkö tyyliin ensimmäinen tämä. Ainakin julkisesti esillä oleva swappi :D Ja muutenkin e12 on jo niin harvinaisuus tienpäällä, että kulttuuriteko fiksata tämmönen.
@@pazi88 Joo ite katoin just samaa ku vähän googlasin et E34 ollu vasta eka kori V8:lla. Hienoa että päätitte pelastaa tän yksilön ja toivon että tää auto säilyy vielä pitkään👌👌

Too late now, but e23 steering box mounting look very similar to e12. Could've been easier to mount e23 box rather than e28. :) Well done regardless.
Yes, but shape wise it's quite far off.
Decent project) we just managed to swap m40 into e12. Check it out on spare time. The car is lit af) but not so clean as urs
You can take a look at E34 u-joints, they are compact and quite avaible

good night, I'm writing through google translator, I apologize for the mistakes) I put the m60b30 motor in bmw e12 , put the steering gear from e28, for connecting the gearbox to the steering shaft from e12, I used parts of the steering shafts and cardanches from e34 (1 cardan and 3 parts with slots). when installing the motor, there was a problem, the exhaust manifold from the gearbox side had to be removed for installation, but these are trifles. the main problem is that the collector cannot be put in place and a custom one will not help here either, the distance from the cylinder head to the gearbox is very small... plus, if you screw the shdang to the gearbox, then there is no place left for the collector at all.... Is it possible to use a rail from the right-hand drive e34 and steering rods from e46? The m60b30 motor with an automatic transmission, the motor cannot be raised higher to free up space and move closer to the radiator, too, since the gearbox housing will cling to the steering path.... I'm stumped... the native steering gear does not make sense to use, since it is weak and "weak"...
Just a quick question...how different is an e12 subframe from an e28 subframe ... are they not swappable... also would a steering rack like from an e34 or e36 not be able to fit with a few mods...just thoughts flowing through my head...had an 1976 e12 528 imported from Germany to South Africa many years back
from my understanding, in finland we cant just mod everything to fit. we have very strict laws to modding parts.
@@techdeck3104 thats sad here in south africa if it passes road worthy test you good to go.. on a side not have u come across any e12 model before 1980 the modelwith smaller tail lights and rear gas filler...like our e12 528 import...would like to restore one
E28 front suspension is quite a bit different to e12. But e24 came with both e12 style and e28 style front. So the e28 style e24 front could be even bolt-on. Not sure if it's same as e28 or just same suspension arms. E34 still has steering box like this e12 so it's not that much different. Steering rack from RHD car flipper over would technically work (the tie rods are behind front wheels. Not in front like with bmw's with rack). But the steering geometry is so different in these that it wouldn't work very well.
@@techdeck3104 Well yeah technically even this kind of modification isn't allowed if you follow rules by the book. But usually it's fine if the end result is safer/better and well executed. But that of course depends on the MOT inspector opinion.
i've swaped e12 subframe with e28 one many many years ago. i used e28 suspension too. same did with rear subframe

Quaifen lukkoperähän se varmaan fiksuin tohon vehkeeseen.
Ei taida oikeen olla. Quaifeä nyt ainakin saa, mut se on paska torseni eikä kitkalukko.

Yeah I know. They have some important parts for e12, but it's really easy to whip out those ourselves. And most of the parts we already have new or good condition used ones.

Samallalailla öljynpaineella nekin pelaa. Paine pumpulta tehpstimelle ja sieltä säiliöön. Custom öljylinjat pitää toki teettää.
