    Look Alice, what're you talking about?? This does not lack focus!! It's wonderful!! It's incredibly focussed!! I love it!! I adore the framing with Merlin, and pointing towards the cruelty Uther really expressed... and I actually felt sorry for Morgana!! I began to question whether they had developed it really!!
    I love it when you do the drawing together thing... it improves the programme :D
    And do you know what this video would really work with?? A reveal >.<

    Wow! Stunning! I really loved every second of this and how you put it all together. And the overall theme of what Uther did and what he left and how that affected and still affects all the characters. Amazing job!

    I am totally amazed!:)
    And I totally understand what you wanted to show.
    Uther was stunning character, most of people hated him, but i loved him, and i little bit understood him..;) come on, what would you do if your loved one was killed by magic? you would hate it.. well.. i definitely would!:D
    but Uther left something in all characters in Merlin, the bad thing or a good thing, doesnt matter, it was HIS legacy;)

    I get there's some sympathy for his loss, & I'm not downplaying it- but *he* was, in fact, responsible for it: he *chose* to do something he was actually warned against- & let's look at this logically- Nimueh *can't* actually ignore the price of life for life magic, which is what Arthur's birth was - yet, what's the bet he would have been ok with the 'price', if it he'd, in fact, *known* it would 'only' be some random's life that was to be taken? He seems like that kind of person.
    I've seen for myself that tragedy doesn't always change us, but it *does* amplify our existing, fundamental core beliefs- even if only specific facets; that he went from having a Court Sorceress who was a close personal friend, to persecuting ALL magic-users & ALL connections to them (magical creatures like dragons/ unicorns, regardless of the level of/ lack of danger they pose- common associates, like druids [Druids have a high proponent of magic-users among their people, they're learned in the understanding of magic, but not all of them actually have it] & dragonlords- up to the point of risking war, by technically invading someone else's kingdom, when he went after Balinor- something that he got up Arthur & Morgana in S1, even though their entry was to *protect* others), *THAT* says something about that man: he did not simply blame the persons with the direct connections to the event; himself, Gaius & Nimueh- he blamed *everyone*, except HIMSELF. He allows Gaius to remain because he *renounces* his magical heritage, turns his back on that community & more or less accepts what Uther will do.
    He kept up a delusion for *more than twenty years*: 'Magic killed my wife- I had absolutely nothing to do with it, it wasn't like *I* asked magical help in creating a son that my barren wife couldn't have' - he asks Morgana how she can hate him so, when: he wanted her sister dead, had an affair with his apparent best friends' wife, spent decades lying to her, emotionally & occasionally physically abused her, & ultimately denied her the truth of who & what she was, right to the end- yet we're meant to feel sorry for *him*?!
    However, it isn't just Uther that frustrates me - other characters, *especially* Gaius & Merlin's sinning by silence also impacted on the anti-magic legacy in Camelot- & it just got worse over time; in S1 Arthur & Morgana believe there's nothing inherently evil in druids, but he goes from making covert deals with them to protect a boy from execution, to hunting & killing them- & while later on Arthur apologises for what Uther did & says in one episode that druids will be treated with respect, yet there's no indication of them actually returning to the kingdom in peace, no hint of them being reached out to- to create tolerance.
    Gaius stood by while friends like Alice & Balinor, & his first protege were persecuted- his helping them escape doesn't change the fact that they were hunted out of their own home/ were to have been executed by Uther, & Gaius did very little- in TWENTY-PLUS FREAKIN' YEARS, really (Julius/ Edwin becoming 'bad guys' doesn't come into it- they weren't evil before the persecution, even if Julius' parents had practised dark magic).
    I'm not excusing the 'evil' characters, nor what Morgana became, but Gaius & Merlin bear as much responsibility as Uther, Morgause, Alvarr, Saurrum & Morgana herself for her path to darkness. He criticised Merlin for playing God with Lancelot's future back in S1, when Gaius was even worse for it- Merlin might have actually done more good, if Gaius & the Great Dragon hadn't hamstrung him.
    {Don't get me started on that frickin' dragon! It's an eldritch creature that's been locked up for some two decades, you don't think it may hold a grudge, & the things that it said should perhaps be taken with a grain of salt, rather than merely accepted purely as Gospel?}
    And Gwen & Arthur- ugh, Gwen & Arthur: she went from being a sweet-natured, genuine girl to a hypocritical poser- Gwen had the audacity to speak to that girl like that, & showing *no* sympathy for the fact that she & her father were in a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' situation between Arthur & Morgana - 'Respect has to be earnt'?! The F*ck?!?
    How can you EVER earn respect in a kingdom that thinks you lesser, where your heritage can be a death sentence? If there were any stupider a thing to say! That girl was right- if her father were to have been like Gaius, he'd live a safe life somewhere as a well-paid, well-respected physician- *if* he could manage to shut his eyes to the mass destruction going on around him.
    And then there's Arthur's obliviousness, his ignorance, his casual cruelty toward Merlin & Morgana, his complete inability to take a *real* stand against things he knew deep down were *wrong*- & last but not least- the fatal failing to recognise the parallels between himself & Mordred: you were in the same f*ing situation not all that long ago when Uther was condemning Gwen, show some freakin' empathy for the poor, crying lad!
    If there was *ever* any phrase that suited this show more: SELF-FULFILLING PROPHECY!
    Ok! I didn't actually intend to go off on a ranting tangent, lol - I'm sorry. I truly love Merlin, but you have to admit, there were faults & plot-holes- & some serious issues in character development. Again, I didn't mean to take it out on you. The clip's pretty well done - with contrast between Uther & what his actions mean for the future of Camelot.

      This is a pretty long text, i will explain you little thing
      *nimueh fuck up her own people, that's true. But don't fool yourself with the old religion, the old religion is almost all of dark magic.
      *Magic users are not all good and saints, many are evil, selfish and destructive... again don't fool yourself with the thought that power doesn't corrupt because it does and this show is all about power and how it corrupts.
      *morgana wanted uther dead since season 1. She has a sense of justice but later she turned into the person she claimed to hate: a tyrant. By the way morgana did high treason against a monarch in the first season, a crime by the way. In medieva times you were burn to a stake for the same thing.
      *gwen is the queen now, the law is the law. Sefa did high treason and for that many knight did go to ismere, then the life of the king was in the line thanks to her. Sefa did a crime.
      *again arthur is the king, A MONARCH. kara didn't want to repent her crimes, she killed people for the pleasure of it. arrhur needs to think in the welfare of his people above everything else. do you think that those people kara kill didn't have family and the family didn't want justice?

    • @gvkkkhh1226
      @gvkkkhh1226 8 років тому

      *it is funny that you say respect is to be earned, because gwen is right. Ruadan was using his daughter to be a traitor and morgana didn't give a fuck about him or sefa, she just wanted her crown. I am sure that the citizens of camelot are going to be really happy with her, a person who burn the crops, kill citizens for nothing but to be queen, creates immortal armies with her sister to be someone she wasn't even suppose to be because she doesn't even know what are politics, goverment, military training, laws... while arthur knows all of this.
      she acted like her father and did massive genocides in the name of magic users and did this even when uther wasn't in her way anymore.
