Sümela Monastery located in Maçka district of Trabzon. It is the most important touristy place of Trabzon where it has magical nature and

It is a really big bless this Monastery to be renovated, I hope in every celbration to be full with Christians all over the world and peace to come to this country between Turkey, Greece, Kurds, Armenias and in Syria too. If Germany become again friends with French and England and they work in peace for a better future the same needs to be done with Turkey , well done for Erdogan for this project
This is amazing to see how much restoration has occurred since the visits I made in 1967 and 1968 when I was in the USAF and assigned to Trabzon. I am delighted the restoration has continued and so much is completed.

I visited this place one month ago and unfortunately some vandals wrote their names on the frescoes and ripped the faces off. I was disappointed by the destruction. Nevertheless, everyone should be there, witness the beauty of nature and its combination with the fabulous monastry.

Yes you are right.lots of place of the monastery was destroyed.Reconstruction by goverment is still goes on.Newly, it will open to public again and be better than the old .
Indeed, Ottomans and Turks had ruined them, as it happened in many many churches where Otto empire was! Now they restore it because not for other reason, but because it s a great source of money for them, as millions of Christians from all over the world are going to see monuments like this.
