I've successfully used this for small cuts without securing it down, but I honestly can't believe it didnt occur to me to either secure it with screws or clamps. That tip alone made watching this video worth it, even if I feel a little dumb now. 🤣

Holding it is not sufficient. Just cut a few pieces of 1 inch lumber and the lumber moves enough to produce an unlevel edge when you're done. Very frustrating.

Use one for decades. This one is light years ahead of some. No work bench? Get a scrap piece of wood to mount it on, then clamp it on a couple of saw horses. When unclamped, hang it in your shop. One thing is the saw is much steadier if you use 2 hands on it.

I have this same box... the saw binds in the wood like crazy. I'm searching now for how to keep a saw from binding, which is how I found this video. So far, this box is very frustrating.

Try PULLING the saw through several passes, then begin yout cut. Oh, and secure it down. We made a station (lol) from a scrap piece of wood which is clamped to saw horses. Freehand will bind up every time.

@@Unrealistic-o9c Yes, I found that securing it to the bench helps a lot, but I still don't like it. My saw keeps cutting into the plastic. I'll look for another one like it made of metal. I like the concept, and I like manual (non-electric) tools. Thanks!

The only thing with the boxes is you can cut in to the plastic easley I have had three and all muck up

What is the widest piece of wood that can be put in the box?

It's not that easy to use this tool.. When saw teeth tangle with wood, the box get wobbly.. And fragile... So I have to abandon the saw came with this box.. . I am hoping the box I brought will brake soon... This is a honest review no lies.

I'm planning to fill it with expansive foam to make it more rigid

Save your money - pay someone with correct tools.
Very first cut I made veered off into plastic, scrapping a $15 trim board. Now 1/2 hr trip to store to return plus new board.

This thing is one of the worst, most cheaply made pieces of garbage I have ever used.

Oh the squeaking noise the thing does when trying to cut wood. The saw hitting the plastic with the sides of the blade. I think I am returning this. It’s just unbearable the noise it makes

You need to clamp it and or anchor it with screws. You need a work bench. Really a useless tool unless you have a workbench and clamps. Also the pegs it comes with to keep wood in place are not that great at keeping it in place

  • @claylevine

Here to confirm this thing is a wobbly, screechy, unstable mess that makes cutting with precision harder. More plastic for the ocean I guess. 😒 Avoid this at all costs. Buy or make a wooden one.
